Chapter 1Chapter 1:Moonlit Whispers

Aria stepped off the train and onto the worn platform, her eyes scanning the sleepy town of Ravenwood. The air was crisp and clean, filled with the scent of pine and damp earth. She stretched her arms, feeling the weight of her investigation already bearing down on her shoulders.

The local sheriff, a gruff man named Jenkins, greeted her with a firm handshake. "Welcome to Ravenwood, Miss Aria. We don't get many strangers here, especially not journalists."

Aria smiled, her mind already racing with questions. "I'm here to uncover the truth, Sheriff. About the attacks, and the...other things."

Jenkins' expression turned guarded. "You mean the supernatural rumours?"

Aria nodded, her eyes locked on his. "I mean the Moonlit Rebellion."

The sheriff's face went tight, and he nodded curtly. "I see. Well, we'll talk about that later. First, let's get you settled in."

As they drove through the town, Aria noticed the eerie atmosphere. Windows were boarded up, and doors were marked with strange symbols. The streets were empty, save for a few lingering townsfolk who watched her with a mix of curiosity and suspicion.

Aria's mind raced with questions as she followed Jenkins to the local inn. Who was behind the attacks? What was the truth about the Moonlit Rebellion? And what secrets lay hidden in the shadows of Ravenwood?

As they entered the inn, a warm fire crackled in the hearth, and the scent of roasting meat filled the air. Aria's stomach growled, reminding her she hadn't eaten since morning.

Jenkins led her to a cosy room with a four-poster bed and a desk nestled by the window. "You can set up your base here, Miss Aria. I'll send over some dinner and answer any questions you have."

Aria thanked him and began unpacking her notes and equipment. As she worked, she noticed a strange symbol etched into the windowsill. It looked like a crescent moon with an arrow pointing toward the forest.

Just then, a knock came at the door, and a young woman with a kind smile entered. "Hi, I'm Lyra, the innkeeper's daughter. I brought your dinner."

Aria took the tray, and as they chatted, Lyra mentioned a local legend about the Moonlit Rebellion. "Some say it was a group of lovers who defied the town's rules and paid the price. Others claim it was a rebellion against the supernatural forces that haunt our woods."

Aria's ears perked up. "Supernatural forces?"

Lyra leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "Some folks say the woods are home to creatures that roam under the moonlight. Others claim it's just old tales to scare children."

Aria's mind raced with possibilities. She thanked Lyra and dug into her dinner, her thoughts consumed by the mysteries of Ravenwood.

As night fell, Aria sat at her desk, pouring over her notes and research. The symbol on the windowsill seemed to stare back at her, a reminder of the secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Suddenly, a faint howl echoed through the forest, and Aria's heart skipped a beat. She felt an inexplicable pull as if the moonlit whispers were calling her into the darkness.

Aria's instincts screamed at her to investigate. She grabbed her bag and headed out into the night, following the sound of the howl. The forest loomed before her, dark and foreboding, but she pressed on, her heart pounding in her chest.

As she walked, the trees seemed to close in around her, their branches creaking ominously in the wind. Aria quickened her pace, her senses on high alert. Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows.

Kael stood before her, his eyes gleaming in the moonlight. "You shouldn't be here, Aria," he warned, his voice low and husky.

Aria stood her ground, her instincts telling her that Kael was connected to the mysteries she sought to uncover. "I'm investigating the attacks," she said, her voice firm. "And I won't leave until I get some answers."

Kael's gaze narrowed, but he nodded. "Very well. But be warned, Aria, the truth is not for the faint of heart."

With that, he turned and disappeared into the darkness, leaving Aria to follow him deeper into the forest. She knew she was taking a risk, but her journalist's instincts told her that this was a story worth telling.

As they walked, the trees grew closer together, and the air grew thick with an eerie, unnatural silence. Aria could feel eyes watching her, and she knew that she was being led into a world beyond her wildest imagination.

Aria's instincts screamed at her to investigate. She grabbed her bag and headed out into the night, the symbol on the windowsill etched in her mind. The howling grew louder, and she followed the sound into the forest.

The trees loomed above her, their branches creaking in the wind. Aria quickened her pace, her heart pounding in her chest. Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows.

Kael's piercing eyes locked onto hers, and Aria felt a jolt of electricity run through her body. "What are you doing out here alone?" he asked, his voice low and husky.

Aria stood her ground, despite the danger that radiated from him. "I'm investigating the attacks. And the Moonlit Rebellion."

Kael's expression turned guarded. "You shouldn't be here. It's not safe."

Aria pulled out her notebook. "I have questions, and I won't leave until I get answers."

Kael snorted. "You're a stubborn one, I'll give you that."

As they walked through the forest, the howling grew louder, and Aria sensed they were being watched. She asked Kael about the symbol on the windowsill, and he hesitated before answering.

"That's the mark of the Moonlit Pack. They're a group of...individuals who protect this town from the supernatural forces that lurk in the shadows."

Aria's mind raced with possibilities. "And what about the attacks?"

Kael's expression turned grim. "Those are the work of the Order of the Moon. They're a cult that seeks to control the supernatural world, and they'll stop at nothing to achieve their goals."

As they reached the edge of the forest, Aria saw a figure watching them from the trees. Tall, imposing, and with eyes that glowed like embers.

Reincarnated To Evolve My Bee Empire

"Now, go forth, my mortal champion! Conquer this world—or else!" I lived a painfully average life and died by a stupid, stupid accident, but a goddess interfered, giving me a second chance in another world. There, I became royalty—the lazy kind with almost no obligations, free to live in peace and luxury for the rest of my days. Sounds like a dream, right? In reality, it was anything but—because I became *BEE* royalty. A Drone Bee, doomed to die of old age in 2 months! (A humanoid bee, thankfully, but still a bee in all the ways that matter.) The only way to increase my lifespan is to develop and grow my bee colony—a deadly task in a vicious world like this one. There are murderous insect monsters, colossal beasts trampling the earth, other civilizations, natural disasters, and the bitchy patron goddess who absolutely hates me. But as long as I have my brains, my bees, and the powerful genes my system gives me, my Bee Empire will be unstoppable! === For those who want to know more: This is a wholesome comedic story, but it has some dark moments. The focus is on kingdom building, survival as an empire, and interacting with MC’s beautiful bee wife and adorable bee daughters. The bees are all humanoid (see pictures) and human-sized. However, they are still bees in their ways of life and mentality. Although there’s a system, real growth comes from putting effort and time. Nothing happens in an instant in this story, unless it’s trouble. MC acts like an idiot sometimes (oftentimes), but he’s not actually stupid-stupid. When it comes to strategic decisions, he uses logic and reason. Even if you might disagree with it. Also, there will be no smut (ecchi is a fair game), incest, NTR, harem or BL. === Discord is up!
