Someone new

Few days since her nightmares she was getting quite a few surprising news every now and then. Soon there was knock on her door. The door was slightly opened and Linda asked for the permission to enter. She have been working for Kate from a very long time and treats me as her own daughter.

"Come in Linda"

"Miss, Master is calling you in his study"

"Oh, I'll be right there"

Linda left the room while closing the door behind her.

Now this is strange, why would her father call her out of the blue? She felt like she was forgetting something important. First thing first she should go and look for him. There might be something important.

She walked through the hallway feeling something off. But she let this feeling slide. The hallways were decorated with beautiful paintings and some corners had few antiqs vases. Looking at them she felt like she needed to inform the housekeeper the change the flowers. Soon she reached her destination. She knocked on the door and entered the study.

"Father, you called for me"

As she entered the room she saw her uncle along with a young lady around her age sitting beside him. 'Oh she is someone new here'

She had her back facing her but she her heart was restless. 'Maybe I have seen her somewhere in passing.'

"Kate, come and sit here. Let me introduce you to someone"

She sat in front of her father to face the party opposite to them.

'Do I know her? Why do I keep having this feeling' she tried to remember her face but it was so hard. Soon her head started to pain and she decided to stop thinking about it and go with the flow for now. Late could feel her veins pooping due to pain, she was sure it reflected on her face. She closed her eyes in hope to mask her suffering.

"Dear, are you alright?" Worry was evident on Daniel's face.

"Yes father"

"Then let me introduce you to this young girl, her name is Anna, your cousin"

"From which side?" Kate knew her father's side of family, well most of them and she really did not interacted a lot from her mother's side. Her question was not completely wrong in a sense. Anna's face stiffen when was noticed by Kate.

"She is my daughter Kate" Robert said while looking at Kate with love.

"But I don't remember you having one"

"Where are your manors Kate? Sorry Robert she is still young"

"Brother it's completely fine. I can understand her. Let me explain it"

"You see Kate, I got married her mother recently that makes her your cousin. Anna say hello to Kate. You two are sisters and should get along"

"Yes dad, well hello Kate, I have heard so many things about you from dad " Anna smiled. She was a beautiful girl and no one could say otherwise.

"Hi, I hope they are all good things that you heard" Kate decided to avoid her sixth sense for once. Though she keeps having a bad feeling about the girl in front of her, she should not conclude it yet, she needs to give her a chance.

With this thought in mind Kate took Anna for tea in the garden leaving my Uncle and Father to discuss a few things.

As they were walking through the mansion into the garden the young lady's eyes were eyes were looking everywhere. Kate could see jealousy in them. This was not a new thing for her, coming from a wealthy family Kate was though to keep her eyes and hears open. After all you never know who your real friends are when you have money flowing like river. Once they sat down and ordered tea they began to talk. Anna's questions were simple in the start but soon got personal and business like. 'This is interesting' with this thought Kate started to reply her tactfully.

"Kate, dad told me about the ring that you recently received from our elders. He is so proud of you. I was just wondering if I could see it once. "

Kate's eyes shined with her question. The ring passing down through the family was no secret. I t was basically a symbolic gesture to give the ring to the heir and see if they could take care of it or not. The ring represented the family, so if the heir was able to take care of it that means that he/she is capable to take care of their whole family.

"Of course, why not. After the tea I will show it to you"

"So now that you have the ring are you the next head of the family?"

"I guess so, but it's in the future so let's see what happens"

"Yes what the future holds is still unknown." There was a smile in Anna's eyes when she said this. Maybe she did not learn to hide her true emotions. One look and Kate could figure out what was on her mind.
