chapter 1

riah's pov

I woke up at my ma's angelic voice humming the song ' fly me to the moon'. I know because she always sang that song since then. the softness of my mothers hand is just making me smile and yet strangely it always gives me strength .

"good morning luna" mother smiled and left the room still humming so I gut up to bed to brush my feet and do my rituals. While brushing my teeth something came to my mind and just that it made me shout through my mind' now I know why mother strangely woke me up … its because its our birthday today kyaah'

"hmmmmm" I hum when a my mood when to the top. Feeling like a old lady and yet free because it my 18th birthday today. I saw mom preparing my breackfast so I smile at her ear to ear. Telling her i'm waiting for the present.

" hmm my baby luna is in the mood" I smile at what she said then sat at the table making my eyes as cute as possible. But mother just chuckle.

"baby your not cute" she laugh" piece of advice by your not cute" I was hurt by what my mother said but because i'm in the good mood I just smile shewing the hotdog that she cook.

"ahh before I forgot don't come home late this evening ha I have a surprise for you" she said before I come out to the house to go to school wich I shouted back saying ' I love you ma'.

its almost six in the evening when our class ended. And because today is a very special day I hurriedly come out to school that I even forgot to go to my classmate to receive their birthday gifts. And besides mom wants me to be home early so that I can help her prepare our birthday dinner.

" I regret buying a necklace "I said to myself regretting that I bought a gold necklace for my mother since the money I use to bought this moon necklace is the money to pay me a cab home. And so I have no choice but to run to home.

Its been half an hour of running that felt like years and now my muscles is aching badly due to my lack of stamina. But the sky seems like mocking me as I saw the sun setting that make my heart skip a bit as I remember my mom scolding me for coming home late again. And that made me came running again since a few blocks away of where I was standing is the entrance of the forest. And the forest is the sign that im close to home.

"shoot! Its almost night " I said to myself and came running again. As I'm more afraid of my mothers scolding than the moon that slowly rising in the sky as darkness engulf the forest. While running I took the gold necklace at my bag pocket remembering the old creepy lady who keep insisting to make me buy this necklace. The necklace is gold and shiny that I mistook it for real gold and whats interesting is the crescent moon pendant that shines at the moon that slowly rising to the top of the sky.

" mom would love this necklace"I said to myself again as I remember that mom likes gold and maybe she might forgave me for coming home late because of this. ' lord I hope you give mom enough money to buy chicken and a strawberry cake please lord. It mom and I's birthday especially the cake lord okay please'

"tssssss" I stop running and praying when I heared a sound of a snake and quickly look at my surroundings since its not impossible to have snake here on the forest. Afraid of being bitten on a snake I came running again even if my muscles is complaining already. But being in a forest with a snake is creeping the hell out of me so I have no choice but to run again.

"hi" I stop at my track when I heared someone said hi to me. I look back and found no one. My heart stop literally and the thought of a ghost came rushing in my brain. I was about to run when someone appeared at my front and saw a lady-like-snake that made me jump as my mouth gape open. The lady-like-snake has a skin of a yellow snake, her formed were like a human but her eyes says otherwise as her eyes were like a cats eye that shines through the sky and whats more creepier is that she is smiling at me. staring at me like I'm her dinner for tonight.

" ahhhh!!" I shouted at the very top of my lungs as I stumbled at a rock that couse me falling the ground. The lady-like-snake walk to me slowly. Mocking me with her eyes and smile. I tried to get up and run but she easily grab my feet and pull me closer to her.' God help… help' I wanted to shout but seems like I forgot how to as I saw something that shouldn't exist. ' is it the end of the world as aliens will envade the world? Is my village is the first place they envade?'

"looksssss like I'm having a proper dinner tonight.. a demigod" the alien said and slowly starting walking to me while plastering her creepy smile I got no choice but to try to get up again and try to run but before I even stand she already sent me flying towards a tree. I groan and silently cry as the bone of my back directly hit the tree and it felt like my whole body was numb. Like I was paralyze by the pain. I hear her laughter and saw her face completely amuse by my fear towards her and towards my life that feels like slowly drifting apart from me.

She crawl like a cat towards me and slowly smell my scents. I still cant move and the only thing I can do is to cry from the pain and beg to god to save me from this alien. The alien grew tired by smelling my scent and now she's starting to lick me at my forehead, my nose that lingered her groosome smell of her saliva and then like a mad man she's licking my whole face that even tears cant escape my own eyes 'god if I'm going to die please don't.. please I still want to live I beg you save me!!'

"h-h-he-l-p" slowly my senses came back that I can talk n ow but I don't think I'm gonna live. As the alien are now on top of me and now smelling, licking my neck and crying and beggin is the only thing I can do. ' but atleast I'm gonna die below the full moon , it seems like begging wont work anymore so I accept my fate now , ma sorry ' i look up the moon that shines through out the universe as tears fall down my cheeks.

"ahhh such a beautiful kid" I look at her with fear in my eyes. Something was building inside my heart like a ball of a sun, it felt warm and now it travels like bullet , to my shoulder, to my stomach, feet, hands , throughout my whole body. It felt like there was a race between the aliens mouth that is now slowly coming closer to my neck and the warm feeling that travels my body and now it reach my head.

It felt like I was re-energized and now I can move and yet I'm not as the aliens teeth is now touching my skin. But before it pierce to my body the energy focuses on both my eyes and just looking at her she become an ash. I felt like jumping and happy that I survived that alien but confuse on how I survive.

"was that a dream?" I feel like I just imagine what just happened. There's no bruise, no pain at my back. And the only thing that make it real is that thick saliva that still linger in my face and now it has ashes on it that make it feel so eewy. I look at my hand when I felt a little pain there and there was a necklace… ' wait mother!!'

I hurriedly ran completely ignoring the icy place. It felt like there was snow but there's not its just the ice. But that didn't bother me anymore even if it makes it more mysterious and creepy but the taught of my mother alone at our house and the aliens invading the whole world makes me nervous and anxious about mothers life.

About a minute I arrive at our house and the thoughts that has been around in my mind came rushing as I saw how our house got ruin. And felt like someone just put a war here but that's not my problem anymore. My problem is where is mother or if she's safe?. but after just taking a few steps inside our house my world crumble into dust as i saw her laying in there floor with a knife in her heart.

"maaaa!! MAA!" I run over her completely ignoring the pool of blood in the floor. I felt like I was tear into pieces. And the feeling was the worst than being hit by a tree at my spine. I saw her move. And as instinct I put her hands in my cheeks. Feeling the warmth of it. Fearing it might be my last time feeling the warmth of it.

"ma… please don't leave me" I said crying, sobbing and literally jumping while sobbing and begging for mother not to leave me. I saw mothers smile at me and mouth at me happy birthday " ma don't leave me!!" I cried again.

" the moon , find it, find her, free her" before ma's eyes close I she open her mouth like she's uttering some words about the moon or something. I want to ask more things and what it means but she become ashes like that aliens that made me jump backwards ' what the hell just happened?'. I felt like my tears retreat by shock and it all comeback to me how things turn upside down in just an hour. And now that I look at my house everything here is ruin and the ice just completely followed me and now it envelops the whole house except the spot where me and my mother are staying.

I felt like dying and not moving and just stay here at this very spot. My mother died and become an ash, I almost die, my house is ruined and I have nothing left but a necklace I was supposed to give on my mother. And seem like fate is being crappy that he made this happen on my 18th birthday. My f*cking legal age.

"gruuu" I look back as my tears came back falling again and I felt like running, shouting, and staying away as possible at the devil in my back. But I didn't. my heart was pounding hard and wants me to move or run as far as possible making the ice around thicker but my brain says otherwise.

"hmmm a demigod" he's the second one to call me that but and that's when my heart won over my brain and made me stand up and run to the door not too far away from but before I even took my step to run. the devils tail hit me that made me sent flying again and before my head hit the the broken wood the ice protected me and the same feeling as earlier are now spreading like bullet trough out my body and it focuses on both my eyes again and in just one look he become an ash.

"waaah!!" I cried shouting, sobbing. and now I'm alone. It took one one night to took everything away from me. And one night to make everything impossible.
