A Red Big Moon

Prologue:

Things were meant to go on smoothly that night like usual. It was a night of a full moon, one that would bring great changes over the underworld.

It was an old custom for werewolves to worship their moon goddess on that night, thanking her for what she gave them and hoping for more benefits in the future.

The moon goddess was the sole god behind their birth, behind their abilities, and behind their long life.

She gave them everything; power, rage, transformation, order, and even abilities. She stopped time flowing through them, making them the closest definition to immortals like rare other special creatures in this world.

Collectively these creatures were known as the underworld.

However things changed with time. People change in years and immortals change in mellinias.

And the moon goddess was enraged at the moment by these changes.

In fact the moon goddess could take a peek over the lives of her creation every moonfull night. However, if she ever wanted to change anything, she had to wait until a special night where the moon was fully rounded, very big, and colored red.

The red moon was the moon that gave her authority to change things around.

Werewolves of the modern age threw away all the legacy their ancestors left behind. Instead of living in the remote places and near forests they lived among humans in big cities and inside huge skyscrapers.

Instead of caring for the pack and using power to determine their ranks, they used other methods built on royal, pure, mixed, and even dirty bloodlines to decide their ranks.

Instead of having hunting nights and fights to sharpen their canines, they started to use their minds and degrees from big universities as a way to show off their superiority.

And instead of ruling the pack, they started ruling corporations, big enough to cover the entire world.

They turned from being mere fighters and tough creatures into docile and businessmen, infected with human greed and love of power instead of ruling over them using their power.

And that just made the moon goddess reach the end of the rope with them.

"Tonight things are doomed to change," she said to herself while watching over the entire Earth, watching the werewolf packs doing lowly things humans were only able to do.

Even their sworn enemies of other creatures became their allies and even friends. Conflicts shifted from bloodbath battles into negotiations on tables like weak gentlemen.

"I never created you to become gentlemen," she said in determination before the big red moon started to change at this early hour of the night.

The night that would mark the beginning of an epic story where the fate of all werewolves would be decided.

"This thing was kept by me for a long time already," she took out a shining little star which kept resisting her grip with fierce power. "Go... find someone worthy to be your master... don't forget the grudge you have against me, so you'll have it against my children."

She blew all of a sudden at it. Faint blue sparkles of dust moved in a magical way towards this star. "Two hearts will suffer," she said with no emotions at all, "if their love is true and mighty, it will stand against you. If not, their hearts will shatter like glass over your rock."

She threw it high in the space before suddenly adding: "Yet you can't choose anyone but a rogue werewolf, or someone destined to be ill fated with them. That's my law and my judge. Go and execute it."

The next moment that little star vanished off her sight and moved so fast towards Earth while a sinister smile appeared on her face. "Let's see how you are going to deal with that, unfilial kids."

And then she returned to her throne on the moon while watching with much interest the events that would unfold after that.

As for that little star, it didn't struggle too much to find its new master. The moment it defined him, it moved so fast and slammed without warning on his body.

And from here on, our story begins... a story of love and struggle, power and conflict, and above all... a story of a mother disciplining her kids.
