72 Awkward Silence

A waiter eyed me up and down as I stood before the door of a restaurant. Though he did not show it, he was sneering at my attire which, if I am being honest is not in its best form… I had nothing to say against his reaction for this was normal.

This human had to uphold the quality of this place, I supposed… though I had to say, his gaze towards my companion is rather, pleasant.

Sullivan had a frown as he seemed rather impatient to be with me.

'Hurry it up!' his eyes said. But somehow, I can see that he's also rather hesitant to keep up the act… is he tired of acting like that? That is quite interesting to see.

"Is there a private room in this restaurant?"

The waiter creased his brows, having a child talk down to him must have hurt his pride, "Yes, but that is reserve for Hunters of the B-Rank and above, it is not a place even the rich could go to, much less someone like yourself."

I do not like this… but his blatant disdain is rather appreciated, he's not fake.

"Perfect, take me there and my companion."

"Did you not hear what I just said!?"

We were creating a commotion, the people inside were disturbed, and most of the upper-class people were glaring at this disturbance.

I did not like this and simply got a dark red card from my UIR, "Here, is this enough?" I asked and the people glaring at us had a complete 180 in their expressions. As for the waiter, he turned pale at the sight of my card… it appears I have done something unnecessarily flashy.

'I've been going about and getting myself into unnecessary trouble since I saw Sullivan… this is new of me… is there something wrong with me? I do not like this at all.'

"Please, follow me." The waiter finally got over the shock he received and brought us to a room where luxurious furniture decorated the room.

The room had a glass panel that overlooked the outside of the airship. We are currently above the clouds, or so it appears. In the middle of the room would be the chair and the tables neatly arranged that was arranged for any hunters to come by.

Before going to the seat, I quickly asked for the food that I would want to eat, "I want to get the most nutritious and energizing food that you guys have… have the chef decide what kind of dish he would give me. Sullivan, what about you?"

"…I'll have a glass of wine," Sullivan said and the waiter left with the biggest of smiles. He seemed to have learned not to mess with us.

Sullivan and I sat on the chairs and then looked out at the view outside. As he placed his feet on the table, he finally had enough of the silence and asked me, "What do you want!? Why did you invite me here to this place?"

And so, he asked me but, "…I do not know."

"What!? Are you mocking me just because you got an A-Rank in the Special Examination and I failed? Is that it!?" he was angered, this seemed more genuine than his façade.

I looked at him and then at the clouds, "It appears that my actions have brought your discomfort, I apologize. I did not mean to do such a thing, please, accept my apologies."

I lowered my head to end a problem that I started.

"Tsk! Raise your head, that's not how a Hunter of your caliber should act." He said with a calmer voice.

Once again, I looked at him and then thanked him, after that, I looked at the view outside as I tried to think what it was that I was trying to achieve in associating with him… I wanted to know, but before I could, Sullivan spoke once more.

"Hey man, I'm sorry about that time in the Special Examination…"

"Whatever do you mean?" I have no idea.

"You know when I sneered at you and looked at you with contempt. I was trying to intimidate the others, and as you were staring at me, I thought you were looking down on me… why are you making me say all this? Are you sure you are not mocking me?" He asked as he turned in my direction.

Once again, I apologized, "I am sorry, but I have been known for not having the inability to understand others…"

Sullivan clicked his tongue, "What, did no one teach you or something? I am sure you can learn how to do it by observing your parents and brothers or something."

"I was an orphan, and the city and orphanage that I stayed in got destroyed by monsters."

"…I'm sorry to hear that."

"Do not apologize, you did nothing wrong. It is only a matter of fact."

I looked at Sullivan and saw his opening and closing his mouth… is his throat dry or something? I do not know…
