Better Alone

The sky was still blue, the water was still clean; it was yet another day for Lucian in the monsterverse.

Two corpses lay on the ground and the last had its head held in Lucian's vice grip.

The beast struggles to reach his towards Lucian but the sad part is that its small arms would never even touch Lucian. It was a cruel world the monsterverse, here size does matter.

But the monster was not so pathetic, as god seemed to have compensated it with a tale of 2/3 of his body.

Using it he smacked Lucian across his sides.

But it was to nought as Lucian tanking the hits, used his other hand to chock hold the beast by its neck. Then with the hand on top of its head, he stabbed his nails into the skull of the beast.

"Varrr," the scream would have churned Lucian's stomach if there was still any green left in him.

But be it fortune or misfortune Lucian had already embraced the beast in him to a savage degree.

When the body in his hands went limp, Lucian walked back to sit on a nearby rock. He used his hand to cover the open skull. Lucian then tilted the body to the side blocking the brain to fall out but letting the fluids surrounding it leaks from the gaps of his fingers.

Draining the skull, Lucian used the long nail on his finger to stir the brain.

This was clearly not his first and with how ease Lucian was with making this brain tonic, indicated that he might have done this at least 100 times.

Lucian was looking at his makeshift bowl still stirring the brain even after it had turned into the gooey mix with the consistency he liked most.

"You sad always."

Drinking all of it in one gulp Lucian looked at the package that he had tied to his back.

"Says the bat that has been sulking ever since her minions left her."

-

Standing in front of the bowing leader Lucian was baffled to his core.

Even though the act of the bat readily surrendering was surprising, since after such a power he was expecting it to get to her head and attack him at first sight. What really had frozen was the mental message in the same language made after Lucian and Mothra mixed the language the other knew to create this entirely new one.

It looked to be that since then he was using the combined language even in his subconscious thought and also used the same language to carry his intent to beings he makes a connection with.

The bat being able to pick up the word to match his intent had Lucian reevaluating a lot about the said creature.

He didn't know that he would be able to meet another being that will be able to talk to him this soon after losing Mothra.

After a while, the bat and Lucian go back towards the bat's hideout.

The leader bat was almost bubbling in pride; her head was so raised that she was having difficulty looking at the way ahead.

She felt that with her increase in power the bats will also start revering her.

Because she had just recently managed to bring every bat under her, there was still some dissatisfaction in the elders who had hoped it would be their turn to lead the pack after the previous ones had martyred.

Even her brother was very reluctant at losing to her in the battle to lead the pack they originated from.

Attributing all the opposition to not being powerful enough, the leader bat was now over the moon thinking of finally getting every bat to follow her willingly.

They reached the cave with the bat practically navigating looking at the sky. When they went inside to their confusion the silence of the caves greeted them.

While Lucian was still at the entrance the bat had already circled the cave a few times, but with each time, it was getting more puzzling to face what was, in front of her.

Stopping her form endlessly clocking around the cave, Lucian tugged at her and then pointed in a direction in the far sky.

Her sight was not like it used to be. While nothing akin to Lucian's, she was at least now able to see the pack she had fought for using her life was flying away, leaving the cave and her behind.

She didn't know if they were even expecting her to come back, or had also wished she never did.

[present time]

After being betrayed by her own kind she had become awful quiet while always carrying a gloom around her.

But she was right, he was sad. Because the fact that he had been pushing with all his aggression was now becoming plainly clear to see. He had to come to terms that he might just never be able to find Mothra ever again.

"They no mine, I better," she shouted. Rearing her head out from the opening on the top of the leaf bag, in return to his snark.

"Lilith, if you are so angry with them, then why didn't you chase and kill them all."

The comment from Lucian had shut her up.

Then some moments later Lilith came out of the bag. She then flew to the corpses of the beasts laying on the ground while their blood pooled on the ground. She ignored the blood that had already mixed with dirt and started drinking the rest of the blood directly from the bodies of the recently departed.

After the pack left she had not chased after them even though she could totally reach them with her fast speed. She just stood beside Lucian and looked at them hurrying away.

Later she tried to show that it didn't matter to her but the sudden fire she started in rage was giving her façade away.

Fortunately for the animals that live in the forests they had crossed that Lucian was always putting the fires out. Or every animal inside would have been group roasted along the forest.

When had started dragging him slow after being lost in her own thoughts. He had made the makeshift bag.

In hindsight, it might have been a big mistake as Lilith had turned into a shut-in from then on.

The only times she came out was at times like this.

"So you come out to drink blood huh. You have to start hunting for yourself. I will not let you leach of me just because you are a vampire."

"Lilith bat. And you no eat, blood waste."

"yeah, yeah, get on with it blood sucking Yoda."

Ignoring Lucian for she was yet not able to fully understand him, Lilith drank the beasts dry of their blood.

Satisfied Lilith flew towards Lucian and perched next to him.

"You know some looking us?"

"Huh."

Lucian gets hyper alert from Lilith enquiry.

'what is she talking about, there is no on...'

Looking at a certain place, way below his eye level, he sees it.

The thing quickly hides but does not run away. Then sometime later when it peeks out again, Lucian confirms what he is seeing.

It was a little girl, in size and also age.

"Human."
