18 The Pale Demon

A young looking man, adorned with a black western suit, was hastily walking down a long, and pristine hallway. Red carpet covered the entire marble floor. Various types of beautiful flowers decorated the walls in the hallway with beautiful paintings. A large, elegant chandelier hung in the middle of the ceiling and brightened the hallway. The young man had a tall stature that made him stand out from everyone else, standing around six feet and four inches(193cm). The young man was quite handsome with green eyes and black hair that combed over to the side. However, he had a look of anxiousness on his face as he rushed to meet the president. His name was Isaiah Godfrey, one of the president's advisors.

Isaiah walked towards a large, wooden door and opened it. Charles was revealed sitting near a large, wooden desk, reading through documents. A large pile of papers was sitting on the president's desk, waiting to be signed by him. Charles signed off a document before rubbing his forehead in exhaustion.

"Mr.President, I'm sorry for the intrusion, but we have urgent matters to deal with." Isaiah stood before Charles.

Charles dropped the pen in his hand and looked at Isaiah. "Well then, let it out, Mr.Godfrey."

Isaiah nodded his head and handed a letter to Charles. "Firstly, one of Mr.Benedict's right-hand man, William Paxton, handed a letter for you on his visit here."

Charles opened the file and began reading its contents. "It seems that the army is transitioning smoothly to integrate supernatural abilities. However many soldiers have diverse abilities, so Mr.Benedict might take a while to provide suitable training and categories by ability."

"Furthermore, each squadron must have soldiers with abilities that are compatible with each other." Charles continued. "For example, a water manipulation user paired with an electricity manipulation user; there are many possibilities with just those two abilities alone."

"I understand, but what about the anti-government resistance group and other dangerous organizations?" Isaiah asked.

"I believe we should expend some of our resources to deal with these groups before they strengthen," Isaiah added.

Charles shook his head. "For now, we should focus all of our efforts on the monster invasion. It's very difficult to find each and every resistance group. As you know, soldiers receive Souls from monsters everytime they kill one."

Charles leaned back in his chair. "Souls can be used to strengthen their abilities. Therefore, we will strengthen our soldiers to a terrifying degree, so any violent resistance will stand no chance."

Charles looked at his watch; it was half past noon. He got up from his chair and walked towards Isaiah.

"I've got a meeting with the world leaders tomorrow. Call Mr.Benedict for a meeting in three days time." Charles patted Isaiah's shoulders before walking off with bodyguards.

Back at Lakemere city, many portals, just above the skyscrapers, materialized. The people on the ground watched on with shock and horror. Some of them ran into their homes and barricaded it. The army stationed in the city pointed their weapons towards the portals, waiting for the worst to come. In the rundown apartment, the group was currently looking out through the window.

"Fuck me, they followed us here!" Ray yelled.

Marvin looked away from his telescope. "It seems the government scum had a close eye on you guys and sent portals here. Typical, they been spying on citizens closely since the Watchers Act passed."

"Shut up, Marvin." Everyone said in unison.

Ian saw a white humanoid figure jumped out of a portal. It had a tall stature with a muscular build. The humanoid figure had a mouth like that of a Komodo dragon, and a large, triangular cranium. It had four jet black eyes with green flames shooting out of them. On its back were six sharp appendages that looked like the legs of an ant. Seconds later, more of its kind came out by the hundreds along with other monsters.

Without hesitation, the army sent rockets and a storm of bullets at them. In response, the Pale Demon clapped its hands and an incredible, green energy wave shot out, destroying armored vehicles and killing soldiers. The Pale Demons landed on the ground, creating deep craters on the road. Citizens close by ran away in fear to buildings nearby. However, a Pale Demon lifted its hand, and the people floated off of the ground. The Pale Demon formed a fist and crushed the people into meat paste. Other Pale Demons worked together, with their combined telekinesis power, to lift the armored vehicles before tossing them into nearby buildings.

"What was that!" Lily screamed.

"Telekinesis. Able to influence objects without touching them. Conner replied. "This is bad."

"There has to be a limit to it," Ian said.

"Move out of the way!" Ray screamed before diving to safety with Marvin and Mac in his grasp.

Everyone else jumped out of the way before a large armored vehicle crashed into Marvin's room. A large hole was created as more debris continued to fall onto the ground. After a while, the dust finally settled, and everyone got up with coughing fits. As they got up, the entire building shook like a major earthquake.

"We need to get out of here!" Ray grabbed Marvin and Mac then jumped off from the second floor.

"My lair!" Marvin cried out in despair.

Ian grabbed his sword and wore it on his back. He then grabbed Lily and Mrs.Willard by their waist before following after Ray. Bounye held onto Ian's shirt as he jumped down. Conner was the last to get out by using Domain Control to fly out of there. Half of the apartment complex crumbled into the ground as a giant cloud of dust spread out into the streets. After the dust settled, Mrs.Willard used her Psionic Healing to restore any minor wounds on everyone.

"Damn, we lost our stuff back there," Ray said.

The group heard footsteps walking towards them, and they immediately had their guards up. From afar, a Pale Demon walked towards them, bearing its sharp teeth. Everyone started sweating nervously because they didn't know the full extent of its telekinesis powers.

"Mrs.Willard, take Mac and my brother and hide somewhere." Ray looked at her.

Mrs.Willard nodded and held Mac's hand. "Follow me, Marvin."

The three ran off, leaving the rest behind to confront the Pale Demon. Two green plasma balls formed in its hands before tossing them at the group. With the wave of her hand, Lily managed to create a wall of cyan flames that blocked the incoming plasma balls, and they exploded on impact. However, the Pale Demon flicked its fingers, and Lily was lifted up then thrown into the side of a car.

"Motherfucker!" Ian clenched his fists and charged at the Pale Demon.

Before Ian came near it, the Pale Demon managed to stop him in place using its powers. With all of his might, Ian resisted the monster's telekinesis ability with pure physical strength. Ian gritted his teeth as he tried to break free from its grasp. It tried lifting him up, but the Pale Demon failed to do so. With its appendages as leverage, the Pale Demon jumped towards Ian while covering its right arm with a wave of green energy. Ian blocked its punch head on, but the Pale Demon kicked him, and Ian flew back from the impact. While Ian was in midair, the Pale Demon slammed him down with telekinesis, leaving a deep crater on the ground. From afar, Mrs.Willard was doing everything she could to heal both Ian and Lily. Mental fatigue kicked in each time she healed them.

Out of nowhere, Bounye rushed towards the side of the Pale Demon's head and clawed it. The Pale Demon covered its bleeding face before slamming Bounye into a nearby building without holding back its powers. While Bounye distracted it, Ray managed to fire three shots at it, penetrating both its chest and shoulders. The monster let out a mournful wail that sounded like a braking train. It blew Ray back with a wave of its hands, and he crashed into a telephone pole.

Conner's eyes brightened as he helped Lily up. "That's it! We need to find a way to attack the monster without it noticing us!"

With his regeneration and Mrs.Willard's healing, Ian immediately got up from the ground and wiped the blood off his face. Bounye walked out of the building it crashed into and ran towards him. When Ian heard Conner, he glanced at his surroundings before landing his eyes on the fire hydrant near the monster.

"Ray, try breaking that fire hydrant while I distract it!" Ian yelled.

He grabbed Bounye before tossing him at the Pale Demon. Bounye shot towards the monster and prepared to bite its neck. However, the Pale Demon stopped Bounye before he managed to reach for its neck. At that moment, Ian appeared beside it and kicked the Pale demon behind the head. The monster slammed into the ground but managed to roll out of the way just before Ian stomped on it. While they were fighting, Ray aimed at the fire hydrant and fired multiple shots. The bullets pierced through it, and water burst out high into the air. The Pale Demon used all of its powers to push Ian and Bounye far away from it. Ian's body bounced on the concrete like a stone skipping over water, before crashing into a car.

"Lily, shoot out your fireballs!" Ian yelled.

Lily immediately formed five fireballs, that were larger than a basketball, over her head. With a flick of her finger, the fireballs shot towards the gushing water. A large cloud of steam formed and covered the entire monster. Ian got back up and unsheathed his sword from his back. He took a deep breath before charging in the cloud of steam with incredible speed. With enhanced perception, he was able to see the Pale Demon through the steam. The Pale Demon cried in rage before blasting all of the steam away from it. However, Ian appeared in front of the Pale Demon and was ready to strike.

"Agggh!" Ian let out a war cry as he swung his sword at it.

The sword sliced cleanly through the Pale Demon's neck, and Ian landed on the ground. Its head dropped, and a fountain of blood gushed out. The Pale Demon's body fell backward with a loud thud.

"Aaahhhh!" Ian knelt down and cried out a victory yell.
