29 The Battle Rages On

"Amazing..." Charlotte uttered.

She watched in awe at the group as if she's witnessing a dazzling performance. She became entranced in their fighting and lost her focus on the current situation. A hand grabbed Charlotte's shoulders and shook her vigorously. Her mind snapped and turned towards Daniel who was staring at her with a stern expression. The sounds of gunfire blasted through her ears, and her body jolted.

"What are you standing there for, help me out!" Daniel yelled.

He aimed his gun at an incoming monster and blew its head into pieces with multiple rounds. Daniel sprayed bullets towards the surrounding monsters before reloading his weapon from the ammo cache near him. Charlotte realized her situation and pulled out two pistols from her holsters. A black wolf with blood red eyes charged at her. Charlotte fired at it, but she missed her target by near inches. The wolf grew furious and increased its speed. She managed to land a few bullets in its body, but the wolf remained unfazed. With full strength, it jumped over the barrier and towards Charlotte. Charlotte's body fell as the wolf landed on top of her.

The pistols fell out of her hands, and she screamed. Charlotte stared at the wolf in fear as it growled at her. Drool dripped down on her face as the wolf prepared to bite Charlotte's neck. She tightly closed her eyes and turned her head away, waiting for the worst to come. However, Daniel landed a hard kick on the wolf's face. The wolf fell on its side, and Daniel held it in place with his foot.

"Don't touch her!" Daniel aimed and fired at it in rage.

After it died, Daniel breathed a sigh of relief and walked over to Charlotte. He lowered his hand to help her up.

"T-Thank you." Charlotte grabbed Daniel's hand and got up from the ground.

"I'm glad nothing happened." Daniel smiled.

Charlotte blushed, and the two of them continued fighting with other people. An endless stream of monsters continued to charge out from the forest of the hills. Ian broke through the wall of monsters with a grand entrance; he fell high from the sky and turned two grotesque monsters into meat paste. He pulled his crimson sword out, and an endless slaughter ensued. Rivers of blood formed as they fell to the ground. However, monsters continued to surround Ian with intense bloodlust. Ian didn't care; he grabbed a corpse from the ground and threw it at the horde to create more space. The corpse smashed through their ranks as it flew through the air. Bounye went on a rampage as he bit off the necks of the monsters; his fur got covered in blood as he went from one monster to another.

Behind Ian, Lily simultaneously shot ten fireballs at the surrounding monster and killed a large portion of them; what remained were charred corpses that were brittle to the touch. Cyan flames formed under Lily's feet, and she blasted into the sky. She extended her arms to the ground, and a long pillar of fire exploded from her hands. The fire pillar blasted through the monsters before spreading out in all directions, reaching great distances. The wave of fire almost reached Ian, and he narrowly dodged it.

"Watch where you're firing that thing!" Ian yelled.

"Sorry, sweetie!"

A rat-like monster jumped behind Ian and bit his neck as he was distracted. Ian winced in pain; he grabbed the monster and slammed it on the ground. He stomped on it, and the monster's head exploded. Lily landed on the ground and quickly waved her hands. Blades, formed from flames, rushed through the monsters and sliced their bodies in half.

"Are you okay?" Lily asked while wiping the sweat from her forehead.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Ian smiled.

The two of them paired up behind each other to kill the growing horde of monsters. Ray, Marvin, and Conner were fighting their own intense battle. Conner created several spatial attacks that killed countless monsters near him. Few monsters were crushed under his pressurized spatial attack. Ray pierced through monsters with his arm-blade and used his arm cannon to kill monsters from further away. A bipedal monster with red skin and a thin body attacked Ray with its claws. However, he managed to dodge it time and pierced its head with his blade. He pushed his arm down, and the blade cut through its body like butter. Ray gave the monster a hard kick, and its corpse crashed into the ground. Bullets sprayed from his arm cannon like a machine gun, and countless monsters dropped to the floor.

"Ah!" Marvin screamed in fear.

Marvin ran in fear as many monsters closely followed him. He stumbled over his leg and fell over with dirt in his mouth.

"Use your ability!" Ray shouted.

"I-I can't!"

Just as Marvin was about to be overrun by monsters, a humanoid lizard wielding a spear appeared before him. It waved its spear and sliced through many monsters with ease. The Lizardman spun its spear before piercing it through the heads of three monsters.

"Lizardman?!" Marvin cried out in shock.

It hissed at him in response. The Lizardman slammed its spear into the ground. It held onto the end of the spear and swung its body around while kicking the monsters away. Marvin crawled away to Ray's legs and grabbed ahold of him.

"Let me go!" Ray yelled.

"No!"

Ray continued firing shots at the horde of monsters while trying to shake Marvin off. Using full power, Conner emitted an omnidirectional spatial wave that pushed the monsters away from them. He walked towards Ray and Marvin with slightly panted breaths.

"I don't think I can hold up for much longer," Conner said.

"And there's so many of them," Ray felt exhausted.

A large boom echoed through their ears as Ian crashed into the ground before them. The ground shook under them, and a small crater formed. Ian stood up with Lily on his back.

"We thought that you guys might need our help," Ian laughed.

Lily threw a few fireballs at the monsters that charged at him, and they cried in pain. Their bodies were charred black instantly from the heat.

"I hope you haven't wet yourself yet, Potty!" Lily sneered.

"This bitch," Ray spoke under his breath.

Everyone fought intensely against the horde with determination. Ian was the main focus as tons of monsters charged at him. With full strength, Ian punched the ground, and it began to shake around him. The surrounding area of ten feet instantly crumbled, and many monsters fell. Lily formed a wall of fire around them as protection; she gritted her teeth as tried to hold it up as long as possible. Meanwhile, Mrs.Willard was doing everything she can to heal the wounded people. However, it was inevitable for casualties to occur as more people died from the hands of monsters.

An hour passed of non-stop fighting, and the horde of monsters dwindled greatly. Everyone grew tired as time passed.

"I-I can't anymore," Marvin said before collapsing.

The Lizardman immediately reacted and picked Marvin up.

"Bring him back to Mrs.Willard!" Ray yelled.

Ray wasn't in good shape either; wounds appeared all over his body, and he's suffering terrible mental and physical pain from overusing his ability. Conner was in the same boat as him as beads of sweat dripped down. He had heavy breaths and was on the verge of collapsing. He should have collapsed long before if not for his willpower to remain awake.

The Lizardman nodded and rushed back towards the barrier. The wall of fire shrunk as Lily began to wobble. Ian grabbed her and carefully set her down.

"I'll take care of the rest," Ian said.

At that moment, the sound of toppling trees echoed from the forest. Loud footsteps were heard as it charged towards Ian. A tall figure rushed out from the forest and charged at Ian with immense speed. Many monsters were crushed under its feet as it ran. The giant had a height of three men and an incredibly muscular body. Tattoos of an unknown language covered its entire torso. A metal helmet, with iron mail, covered the giant's head and wore a fur loincloth around its waist. It wore black pants under the loincloth and metallic greaves that shined with a grand luster. The giant's gauntlets were made from fur, and it wielded giant axes in both hands.
