14 Battle against Galthroworm

Galthroworm's eyes grew menacingly red by the second. A type of dark red you would never want to see behind you; It was the one filled with the intent to kill. Judging by the looks of it, Ian knew their situation was dire. Ray slammed the gas pedal, rushing to get on the highway. The cars blocking some parts of the road hindered their chance to escape. Ray barely weaved pass the wrecked cars and scratched the side of the minivan. Ian broke the windshield behind the car with a punch. With both Conner and Lily, all three of them pointed their guns at it and began firing. However, this measly attempt at killing Galthroworm only angered it.

Numerous bright beams of red light shot forth from its eyes. The light beams penetrated the roads and surrounding buildings before spreading outwards, leaving a deep, and long fissure in their wake. A light beam passed by the car, narrowly missing it, before penetrating the road. The light beam inched closer to the side of the vehicle, and the heat from it burned some of the paint off of the car. A second light beam trailed behind the car, leaving Ray with little room to escape.

"Shit!" Ray screamed.

Ray slammed the breaks and turned the steering wheel tightly to the right. The minivan drifted towards the corner, leaving skid marks behind it. The smoke from the burning rubber of the tires blinded Galthroworm for a second. However, in that second, Galthroworm slammed against the side of a two-story building before large debris fell on top of it. Galthroworm shot out more light beams that destroyed the debris around it before flying off again towards the car. It let out a deep gurgling noise before a red energy ball slowly formed from its mouth.

"This is bad!" Conner turned his head towards Galthroworm. "The boss monster is using another ability!"

Galthroworm aimed towards the car and fired its energy ball. The energy ball filled everyone with dread as they anticipated the devastating impact.

"Mrs.Willard, hold the wheel!" Ray pulled his body out of the window.

Ray's black hair violently fluttered, and his cheeks flapped against the airflow. He aimed his arm cannon towards the incoming energy ball with the help of his ability in his right eye. Without a second thought, he fired a shot at the energy ball. The two projectiles collided with each other, and the energy ball violently fluctuated. An explosion broke out as a red energy wave incinerated the surrounding area of two hundred feet(60m). The car barely managed to escape from the terrifying blast. It slid across the road before coming to a complete stop.

"I'm going to try to fight it." Ian opened the door and walked out of the car.

He stared down at Galthroworm rapidly flying towards them. However, he couldn't hide the fear in his heart against this monster. His palms began to sweat as Galthroworm flew closer. Galthroworm wasn't anything like the previous monsters that he fought before. Everyone looked at him with disbelief.

"Don't do anything rash, Ian!" Lily immediately refused as she grabbed hold of his shirt.

"Don't be crazy, Ian!" Conner agreed with Lily. "Our survival is more important!"

Mrs.Willard and Mac were staring at him with worry in their eyes.

Ian turned his head towards them. "I swear that I will come back after I beat the living shit out of it."

"We need to get out of here!" Ray floored the gas pedal and drove off, leaving Ian behind.

Ray drove away and pulled Lily away from Ian. He stopped the car when he thought he was at a safe distance away from the monster. From this distance, Ray could provide fire support for Ian without worry.

"Why did you leave Ian back there?!" Lily punched Ray's chest and screamed.

"I think Ian is crazy too for doing this, but I still have faith in him."

Lily clenched her fists and ran towards Ian. However, Mrs.Willard grabbed Lily and held onto her. Lily struggled violently to escape from her grasp, but Mrs.Willard wouldn't budge an inch.

"Have faith in him, Lily." Mrs.Willard tightly hugged Lily.

Ian took a deep breath to ease his pounding heart. Bounye was by his side and growled, ready to pounce on Galthroworm. It flew closer and closer as it let out another gurgling noise. Ian disappeared from his spot and charged at Galthroworm; the distance between them now closed up. With full power, he jumped up, and a blast of air blew outward underneath him. Galthroworm dived down to meet Ian in a head-on collision. Ian held out his hand and punched outwards with all of his strength.

A loud boom channeled through the air when the two bodies collided. What followed after was a burst of intense wind that blew outwards. Galthroworm overpowered Ian from the exchanged and slammed Ian into the road.

"AGH!" Ian crossed his arms as his back slammed against the road.

The impact created a large crater in the ground. Blood oozed out of Ian's mouth and spilled onto his tattered shirt. With all of his might, he managed to push back against Galthroworm before backing away. Bounye howled before charging towards Galthroworm. With its small, sharp teeth, it bit through Galthroworm's flesh and ripped a chunk off. Galthroworm let out a horrifying sound as red light beams shot out from its eyes.

"I need to take out its eyes!" He rushed towards Galthroworm while narrowly dodging the light beams that came straight for him. Strands of hair burned off of Ian's head from the heat of the light beams.

A light beam swept horizontally, but he managed to roll underneath it before propping back up. The light beams disappeared, and Ian used to this chance to jump on its back. Galthroworm felt Ian on its back, and it started to shake violently. Ian clenched his fist before smashing into one of its eyes. Blood splattered all over Ian's body as he pulled his fist back. Bounye was right next to Ian clawing pieces of its flesh off.

Back at the car, Ray noticed what Ian was doing with the help of his right eye's ability.

"He's going for its eyes!" Ray's eyes brightened up.

He aimed his arm cannon at it before firing a shot. The flesh-like bullet traveled through the air and penetrated through one of Galthroworm's eyes. Ray didn't stop there and continued firing shots at it; each bullet penetrated its multiple eyes. Galthroworm let out another horrifying sound before slamming itself into a building nearby. Large debris fell on top of both of them and covered their bodies.

"Ian!" Lily shrieked when she saw the violent scene unfold.

Inside the rubble, Ian still held onto Galthroworm's body as he coughed violently. Blood oozed from his forehead, and he had several wounds all over his body. Bounye was removing debris off his shoulders. Before Ian got the chance to let go of Galthroworm's body, it suddenly flew up into the sky. Bounye was tightly clinging onto Ian's shirt. With its tail, Galthroworm grabbed Ian and tossed him high up. It formed another red energy ball from its mouth and fired it at Ian.

"Fuck!" Ian shouted in fear. He instinctively covered his face with his arms.

The group screamed in terror as a loud explosion rang out. The shockwave from the blast shook the surrounding buildings and broke windows. However, Ian was still alive from the energy blast. Burnt marks covered his entire arm, and parts of his bones were exposed. The rest of his body was no exception to this. However, Ian's body was regenerating at a visible rate and healed parts of his body. Bounye remained unharmed beside him due to Absolute Form. In a rage, Ray rapidly fired multiple shots into Galthroworm's body.

Adrenaline made Ian ignore the pain as he fell back down towards Galthroworm. Seeing that Ian was still alive, it flew towards him and widen its mouth to consume him. Ian didn't allow it to swallow him as he grabbed its mouth before Galthroworm had a chance to chomp down. With his other hand, he grabbed Galthroworm's tongue and ripped it out with all of his might. Blood gushed out and covered his face. Ian climbed on top of its back and pulled his knife out from the back of his pants. He jabbed the knife into its back before running towards its tail, leaving a long cut. Blood poured out as Galthroworm's body grew limp. The two of them fell out of the sky and crashed into the ground. A large cloud of dust covered the scenes of the battleground. A silence filled the surrounding area once again.

"I-I did it," Ian softly said with a smile plastered across his face.

Ian coughed violently before passing out from his injuries.
