4 Altercation 4

One thing that I am glad for, was that they didn't decide to make me their next dish on the menu!

The 'pets' all approached me, which at first made me worried and got me to get ready to defend myself.

But their next action made me understand just how far gone they were!

Some of them sniffed me, some licked me, and the rest looked at me with curiosity before returning to their 'meal' on the floor.

There were a few older ones near the door, but they didn't do anything other than watch his every move!

while Henry wasn't exactly my friend, but I considered him as one of the few people that I got along with.

Another naked girl with a swollen belly walked over, carrying a pot of water, with a blank look.

As for who it was?

It was the old man's granddaughter, Angela's spoils of war. or in this case, an extra 'toy' that she plundered.

But something about these kids made Joseph uneasy as they reminded him of something but he just couldn't remember what exactly.

With so much time on his hands, and while trying to figure out what his job was supposed to be, Joseph altered the bent bronze spear, and its information was a bit more intriguing than what his clothes had shown.

Bent bronze Shilluk

Weapon

Durability 11/30

Effects

>Increased puncture effect by 13% when stabbing.

>2% chance of piercing armor.

This was an item that had TWO effects without him doing anything, thus the next effect that he intend on doing would be broken~.

Sadly it didn't work.

as for what he was trying to change?

Increased spearmanship by 13% with every stab!

If this worked, he'd be a grandmaster with spears within a few days or months.

But since it didn't work such plans for instant power were left for later, thus joseph altered puncture with 'life steal' leaving him one more thing to change, so he changed the part 'bent' for Sharp.

It was just a test, but it quickly proved to be worth it as the spear straightened out and the tip was exactly like its name, sharp!

Joseph got tempted to test it out, however, his stamina suffered a heavy toll causing him to change his mind and focus on the job at hand.

While he cleaned the entryway and a few rooms nearby, there was another thing that bugged him.

Why the hell was his spear called a Shilluk?

Is that was a type of spear or something?

He'd loved to find out but there was no internet to help with that endeavor!

In case anyone was wondering...

...why he hasn't tried to escape?

Every window was blocked by iron bars, with the entrance and exits being guarded by some of the more mature 'pets.'

They gave no reaction at him entering the building but upon trying to leave that was when these crazed human children turned hostile.

Growls, hissing, and other noises that they made showed that any attempts to leave this building may end up in a brutal outcome.

After losing track of time due to all of the cleaning that was done, Joseph ended up sitting on a chair in one of the living rooms, all of the children were washed, wiped clean, and fed, using some of the regular food in the kitchen, with his old skills coming in handy in giving them a proper warm meal.

It was some beef stew, which was something rare, to have yet this stable had most of the necessary ingredients.

They warmed up to him due to the food and how he treated them, except for the blank-eyed girl she was just moving around mindlessly as she stayed clear of him for some reason.

Which made him wonder.

Was Angela actually trying to take care of these kids?

Or did she have other plans for them?

Remembering the scene from earlier, quickly made him stick with the latter, but back to the kids.

All of them were asleep, curled up, and in a pile, unfortunately, none of them were willing to wear clothes, thus he resorted to using a large bundle of quilts for them to lay on and a bunch of blankets to cover them somewhat.

He leaned back into his chair, tired and at the same time, frustrated.

What was Joseph to do?

How can he stay calm from seeing this?

How can he simply bottle up his hatred for the actions of the crazed bitch that turned all of these children into what they are now?

But even after thinking that, he has to, he must endure all of this.

Joseph was weak, too weak to do anything to change all of this!

Right now, he wanted to sleep, due to the fatigue of the 12-hour watch before coming here, and the stress of trying to mentally as well as physically stay calm, Henry was dead, one of the few close acquaintances that helped him get through hard times was no longer there to lighten his burdens.

But falling asleep was courting death with how strict Angela was, making him sink deeper into his chair as he grumbled in depression.

Before he wallow more in misery, something cold grabbed Joseph's shoulder causing him to jump from his chair and have his spear drawn ready to stab whatever it was the snuck up on him.

The culprit was his relief from this post, another guard that looked like he was suffering from a stomach ulcer as his body was slouched forward.

"You can go now, Sir Duncan, get some rest as you are to return here 12 hours from now!"

Only his round face could be seen as the man wore a set of plate armor as he kept his distance from the still snoozing children.

He had a look of fear and disgust towards them before saying this to joseph as he left.

"Try not to get too attached to these children, their 'roles' in the future is something that only monsters can handle, just like our current captain!"

There was only one thing that came to mind when joseph heard him say all that.

"Heartless bastard!"

As he stepped out of the building, there was a very unexpected individual waiting for him.

His hairs stood up, as ANGELA smiled widely upon seeing him!

With long strawberry blonde hair tied in a pony tail, her grey eyes that gleamed at the current prey she was eyeing, her uniform seems a size smaller while her breasts threatened to pop out from her top with tight pants that were drool-inducing, and leather boots with a sharp metal tip, she had a pair of gauntlets tied to her back.

She looked like a valiant and heroic woman at this moment, however, her question made Joseph stop gawking at her appearance.

"So what did you think of the stable and its inhabitants? answer me honestly or you'll be joining your dead friend~"

Hearing her question and threat, made Joseph grit his teeth trying to control himself, as the woman found his reaction amusing.

But there was one thing that he somewhat understood about her, she was blunt to a fault and would follow through with her words!

Thus Joseph answered in resignation as he turned his eyes away from her by looking down to the ground.

"Big, cold, cruel, and lonely."

there was a moment of silence as seconds went by yet she said nothing, did nothing until she stifled a chuckle.

Then she stated.

"It's truly frustrating... that someone like you isn't able to do anything right?"

He blurted out while blinking in confusion.

"Huh? Sorry?"

Angela suddenly moved in front of him before placing her hands on his cheeks and then forcing him to face her.

Then she asked.

"what will you do if I said that I can help you no longer feel such emotions?"

His face twitched at the question as he could not comprehend what she was saying.

That and she was obviously disturbing to be around even with her good looks and drool-inducing body.

But she wasn't done.

"no one to torment you, no one to look down upon you, and every...single...person...following...your...every...command, would you like to have such a position?"

Joseph already had an idea of what she was getting at, but sometimes it was better to hear it than be wrong.

So he asked her this question since Angela was obviously leading him on.

"What are you to getting at?"

Her next action gave him mixed emotions as her hand slid down his face, then neck, soon in caressed his chest but continued to go lower.

To be honest, his body went rigid the moment she touched him but for a very different reason than one would think of when a woman touches you so intimately.

Meanwhile, her face drew dangerously closer to his face as her tongue licked the cheek that wasn't covered by her hand anymore before whispering into his ear. in such a sultry tone.

"Become mine, and all of your problems will disappear~."

Yeah, this woman was really crazy!

He had a hard time keeping his face schooled as Joseph didn't want her to have any reason to suddenly make him 'disappear.'

In case anyone had forgotten... not too long ago, she threatened to torture him!

Before that she wanted to make him into one of her 'toys,' yet now, she was asking him to become hers.

What if this was simply a ploy, and all that awaited him was a gruesome ending?

Nope, nope, nope, there was no way that he was going to stick around once Joseph reaches his tent, he's gonna collect all of his valuables and vamoose!

Interestingly enough, fate seemed to be helping him this time.

*SFX for Loud Bell sounds*

"Tch of all times, why did the damned pests have to attack now!"

Angela snarled, thanks to her plans being delayed, so she had to get to her post before the damage to the town got out of control.

So after pulling away from her prey, she said this while walking away in anger.

"I'll come to find you after this!"

Joseph's reaction once she was out of sight?

His tiredness left him completely before Joseph made a mad dash for his tent.

Well, his 'trashed' tent, someone decided to tear it up and left a turd pile at the center of the mess...

Oh... how he'd love to kill whoever did this, but time wasn't on his side and the threat of the dear captain looming over him forced Joseph to grit his teeth and collect what he could.

Staying here any longer was just asking for a horrible end, he doesn't really know the woman, and there was no way that he was going to leave his life in her hands, no matter how fucking HOT she was!

He was getting the hell out of this town while the stray demons were attacking!
