5 Hunting practice

-Bhuuh Bhuuh-

Lucius stalked the mosswine ever so carefully hiding within the shadows cast by the trees and ferns. Lucius had to get within a certain distance where the mosswine couldn't smell him but he would still be close enough to pounce and kill it.

'Ok so far so good. Just a little bit more. Now!'

Lucius leaped out of cover and pounced on the mosswine.

-Buhiiii-

The mosswine squealed in pain as Lucius' jaws dug into its neck and his claws dug into its flesh as he grappled the pig. Before the mosswine could even attempt to shake off Lucius he swung his tail hitting the mosswine square on the temple.

-Thud-

With a thud the mosswine fell to the floor and Lucy appeared to congratulate Lucius.

Lucy "Good job Lucius. You've improved and performed much better than you did last time. Your stalking was on point but you should aim to kill in one attack. Even a thrashing mosswine could injure you Lucius."

"Yes mom. Next time where should bite next? I thought by aiming for the neck I could deal the most damage with the least amount of injury."

Lucy " Even though the neck was a good choice because the mosswine would have struggled to shake you off. It's throat was much more vulnerable or you could have used your tail to crush its skull from the beginning."

"But mom, it's so awkward to position my tail and hit accurately."

Lucy "Practice makes perfect Lucius. Now let's bring back your hunt to the nest and enjoy breakfast. Try to keep up son or I'll eat it without you."

Lucy playfully taunts Lucius into a race back home. These were the moments that Lucius lived for. The joy and happiness from being loved by a parent just made Lucius feel as if nothing else mattered.

'I must continue training for the day something goes wrong. I must protect the happiness I've been given.'

Knowing that good things never last forever Lucius ready himself for the inevitable.

'But for know I'll enjoy every moment I have.'

"Just wait Mom! I'll win this time!"
