8 Taming the Wild
Alten clenched his fist and whooped and got some weird looks from passerby. He grinned and quickly got into his car, driving towards the nearest pub. Halfway there he suddenly yelled "FARK!" when he realized he had not saved any money, having spent all of it to pay off the loans. He turned the car around and drive as fast as possible back to his farm, cursing all the way...
It was almost dusk when Alten reached the farm. He had calmed down a lot by this time. He took out his mobile phone and logged into Barclays mobile banking app to check his current account.
"$8.39.... Sigh. Next time I'll leave some cash for myself. Menu."

"Well, time to go back..." said Alten with resignation, before activating the World Transfer skill.

A few weeks earlier, Thak was sitting on the porch, sipping the Longjing tea while mulling on the multidimensional witch Yuko earlier words.
"In less than 5 years, the greatest catastrophe this world has ever experienced will happen. The chaos horde will open a portal, countless number of demons will arrive and slaughter everything: men, women, children."
"Is - is there nothing we can do?" asked Thak with a cracking voice full of fear.
"I have seen the threaded destiny, calculated multiple probabilities and possibilities, traced the millions of variation of the final fate of this world... and of all the multiverse, there is only one where the people of this world won and survived total destruction. An army composed of this worlds greatest warrior and mages: The 13 Blades, a group of weapon masters with godlike skill, tenacity and bravery. Phantom Riders of the Lost Brigade, a company of warriors that is like an unstoppable charging juggernaut. The Holy Knights of Cliffordia... though killed to the last man, their sacrifice let the others have a chance of victory. "He is, or rather, he will be soon be known as the God of Monster, Alten Heheh" said the multidimensional witch with a mischieveous smile....

It was also almost dusk when Alten appeared in front of the other world farm's yard in a flash of blue light.
"That was fast."
"Umm, yeah. Say Thak, do you know where's a good place around here to look for Horned Rabbit?"
"Ohohoho! Going for wild monsters now, are we? You're in luck. They can usually be found in the grassy plains around the farm and further out. If you're lucky you might bump into other monster besides Horned Rabbit. But I advise you to not go into the forest to the east... just try to look around south or along the river west and north of here. Especially try near the river, they can usually be found near the river bank with lots of rocks, as they prefer places with rocks."
"Alrighty then! Off I go!" exclaimed Alten as he turned and started to head towards the farm entrance.
"Wait Alten! It will be dark soon, it's not really advisable to go at night! Why not do it tomorrow morning? Besides, the MoCap Pearl is one time use, you may mistake the unused pearl with used ones in the dark," warned Thak.
"Ah, really? I didn't know that, and I guess Chunyang never told me they were single use item, damn..." said Alten dejectedly.
Thak went inside the farmhouse and prepared dinner while Alten turned on the Magic Lantern. He learned to operate the device after watching Thak doing it for the past week. After dinner, another Q & A session between the two, outside on the porch while drinking tea and stargazing before going to sleep. The next morning, Alten woke up at dawn, washed and went downstairs. In the kitchen, Thak was preparing breakfast.
"Ohohoho! Eat up before you go. You'll need all the energy you can get."
"Yes sir!" Alten quickly wolfed down his breakfast and exclaimed "Done! I'll be back!" before rushing out the farmhouse towards the farm entrance. Stopping at the gate, he did a quick last check.
"MoCap Pearls, check! Pen and paper to label used pearls, check! Water flask, check! All check, it's go time!"
'Hmmm, should I go north or west?'
Alten then fished out a 50 pence coin from his pocket, tossed and caught it.
'Northwest it is then'
He started walking through the grassland northwest towards the river that he saw in the distance. A couple of hours later, he reached the river located a little bit more than a mile from the farm. Unfortunately, he wasn't lucky enough to encounter any Horned Rabbit on the way. As he slowly sauntered along the river towards a clearing littered with some colorful rocks near the river, he took a few swig of water from his flask.
"Pfffttt!"
A fine mist was ejected from Alten's mouth as he look in shock at the suddenly moving stones and colorful pebbles and then realizes that instead of rocks, it's a bunch of monsters! A colorful pebble resting on top of a small boulder starts to unwind itself slowly and tried to wiggle unsuccessfully into the water. The small boulder meanwhile starts sprouting two long appendages, a tail and a neck, from either end, and tried to wiggle in the sand towards the river.
"Whoa! That looks like an eel! And that stone... that's a turtle, no wait, that's a snake inside a turtle shell!"
Alten looked on in silence for a few minutes as the colorful eel and the turtle shelled snake tried to escape at a comically slow pace. Most of the colorful eels and turtle shelled snakes managed to make good time and escaped into river except for the first two that he first saw. Shrugging, he thought 'sigh, beggars can't be choosers'.
"Alright you two, I choose you!"
He threw two MoCap Pearls, one at the eel and the other at the snake, which promptly disappear in a flash of light into the pearls. He walked closer and picked them up and labeled both the pearls. Just as he was finishing up, he heard a weird sound, like someone grinding a knife on a stone. He walked towards the sound coming from a behind small boulder, and saw a brown rabbit with a crystal horn on its forehead. Apparently the sound came from the rabbit rubbing it's horn against the small boulder.
"Holy crap, a Horned Rabbit?! Trifecta!"
The Horned Rabbit turned and look at the noise, suddenly puffed up and adopted a running stance.
"Uh oh."
Alten realized he was about to get McStabbed and quickly jumped on top of the nearest boulder. The Horned Rabbit charges over, then tried to jump, but failed, pathetically only achieving a few centimetres of elevation.
"Bwahaha! You suck!"
After watching the Horned Rabbit's pathetic attempt to jump and stab Alten for a few seconds, he then took out an unused MoCap Pearls and threw it at the Horned Rabbit, which promptly disappear in a flash of light into the pearl. He picked it up and labeled it.
"Mission successful! Time to head back!"
He then started walking back towards the farm, and reached the gate entrance in a couple of hours. As he crossed the farm gate, a familiar sound was heard.

"Huh? Twice? Ah, it must be the couple of weird critters I found. Menu!"

As he stood in front of the porch, Thak walked out of the farmhouse carrying a tray with a pot of tea and several cups on it.
"Ohohoho! You're back! That was fast, it's not even mid morning yet. Ah, what's wrong?"
Alten shrugged and pointed at the Monsteropedia info panel.
"Ohohoho, Rainbow Eel and Turtle Snake. Don't worry, I've raised these monsters before. I'll teach you how... but first, it's time for some Longjing Tea!"
