108 Leaving Home

Yu Huiyin did not pay attention to Xie Jingyu. She did not try to talk to him, but she did not try to escape from his embrace either. She was like a wooden doll.

Seeing her like this did not relax Xie Jingyu's suspended heart at all; instead, he felt even more nervous and hugged her tighter.

But the sleepiness quickly assaulted both of them, and soon Yu Huiyin and Xie Jingyu fell asleep.

It was Xie Jingyu who woke up first. The first thing he did upon opening his eyes was to look at Yu Huiyin and check whether or not she was okay, but upon seeing her sleeping face, he knew that, while she had not eaten or drunk anything for a whole day, she was not too weak.

He looked at the time, and he noticed they had slept for longer than planned. He gently nudged Yu Huiyin, waking her up with tenderness and affection, but he dared not kiss her.

He could still feel her anger towards him, so it would be better not to overstep her boundaries.

Yu Huiyin looked at Xie Jingyu, but there was no joy in her eyes. She slowly woke up and climbed out of bed.

She picked some clothes, went to the bathroom where she washed up and changed, before she went down the stairs to the dining room and sat down, waiting for the food to be served.

The food was quickly on the table, and she dug in. She never lifted her head from her plate from when she began eating, and until she finished. She was hungry, but she was not in a hurry to eat; she ate with elegance and refinement.

The more he saw her like this, the more Xie Jingyu felt that something was utterly wrong, but what could he do about it? She was not speaking to him! In fact, he would have preferred that she threw a tantrum at him, that she yelled at him and tried to beat him up, but she was too calm. Too controlled.

Yu Huiyin did not wait for Xie Jingyu to finish eating before she left the table. She was calmly walking up the stairs to her room, and Xie Jingyu thought that she was just going to rest again. She had, after all, not gotten enough rest yet.

However, an hour later, he heard a strange sound of something being dragged down the stairs, and upon looking out the study door, he saw Yu Huiyin dressed in her coat, dragging a suitcase behind her.

His heart suddenly slowed down, he felt as if it fell to the bottom of his stomach, and his eyes constricted in pain. Was she leaving him?

He left the papers on the table and hurried to the staircase where he stood in the way of her descent.

"Move," she said. Her voice was full of apathy, there was not the slightest fluctuation of emotion to be found, and Xie Jingyu felt so scared that he started trembling.

"Honey, I did not mean to leave you alone at home for so long without a word, but it was important!"

"I know," Yu Huiyin did not want to argue with him.

"Then will you forgive me?" he asked, a slight bit of hope lit up his eyes, but Yu Huiyin just looked at him with cold eyes.

"If you experienced a day like the one I experienced, I doubt you would even have the gall to ask such a question. Don't worry, I will not divorce you, but I need some time alone. I am moving home to grandpa and Feihong."

Xie Jingyu opened and closed his mouth. There were so many things he wanted to say, so many words that were waiting to leave his lips, but every time they were about to exit his mouth, he swallowed them back up, not sure how to say them.

"Move," Yu Huiyin said the same thing again, and this time Xie Jingyu moved to the side. "Promise me to come back later," he said, his voice low, but she just looked at him.

She could not promise him anything. She needed to think her position thoroughly; she needed to consider everything that had changed in her life, and her relationship with Xie Jingyu. She would not be able to handle the same kind of blow again as she just had.

Seeing that he moved, she tightened her hand around the suitcase, and left the mansion without looking back.

As she entered the taxi, unshed tears finally began rolling down her cheeks, and her heart felt stuffy. She would not end her relationship with Xie Jingyu, but she truly needed time to think everything through.

She was also going to become stronger. She did not want to be on the sidelines when he was fighting with his life on the line. She wanted to be by his side, only then would she be assured.

But she was aware that she did not have that strength right now. Right now, she was not able to do anything; she was a heavy weight bringing him down.

The taxi driver saw her sadness and felt distressed for her. "Don't worry, a scum man like him is not worthy of your time," he said, trying to calm her down, and she soon revealed a sad smile. Even unknown people tried to help her; she had to cheer up.

She also knew that her grandfather was going to be extremely sad if he knew that she was so miserable.

She did not want to worry her family, but she had nowhere else to go where she could feel at peace.
