1 Days in our lives

"Mommy!" Rei screamed, tears running down her eyes. Saya looked at her daughter and smiled at her. Blood dripping from the Javelin in her hand.

"I'm sorry, honey," Saya said.

Her eyes sparkled with pink energy in contrast with Rei's red. Saya looked at what was once her little girl. Rei had large bat-like wings. Allowing her to float a foot above her mother, she let go of the Javelin.

Chapter one: Days in our lives

Saya's phone alarm rang, her back aking as she sat up. She stared in shock at the time it was 5:30. She only had thirty minutes to get ready for work, get Rei to school, and get to the office in time.

"Crap," Saya groaned. A bottle of Sakai spills onto the floor as Saya trips out of bed.

She almost broke Rei's door off its hinges as she stormed in. The door opened with a SLAM. In shock, Rei quickly sat up, covering herself in her blanket.

"Mom, I'm not dressed," Rei shouted.

"Well, get dressed," Saya said, "we need to go now,"

"Alright, alright, get out, please," Rei shouted!

Saya walked out, but from the corner of her eye, she saw a faint pink glow that quickly vanished.

"No time for phones, Rei," Saya said.

"I know," Rei said.

Saya quickly grabbed her white flannel shirt from the floor. And her black skirt. Well, her skirt stank of alcohol.

"Oh, no!" She cried.

Saya scrambled through her drawer, searching for another skirt.

"That's what I get for being "fun" for a night," Saya cried.

Rei knocked on the door.

"Mom, are you ready?" Rei asked.

"In a minute," Saya cried.

Saya was grateful that Rei could cook her breakfast. Cause this would take 2 minutes of her thirty. Saya finds another skirt. In her rush to put it on, she slams into her nightstand. A of a pregnant young woman and man picture falls from the nightstand.

"Sorry, Yuta," Saya said, as she picked up the picture.

She wrapped her hair in a bun almost on instinct and put her work clothes on.

Rei sat in her living room, eating eggs, and toast. Rei scarfed the eggs down quickly.

Saya hopped on one leg as she put her stockings on.

"Come on, Rei," Saya said as she put on her heels, "It's time to go."

The drive to Fukomo High was light on traffic. After only a 15 minute drive, she arrived, and Rei was able to get to school on time. "Rei, wait," Saya said, raising her phone.

Rei turned. "Mom," Rei said, "I'm kinda in a hurry."

"Just one picture?" Saya asked.

Rei let out a slight groan as she made a peace sign and made a smile. The camera flashed, and Saya smiled at the well-shot photo.

"Rei!" A girl with orange hair and eyes yelled.

"Hey, Ryuoka," Rei said, "I'll see you later, mom. I love you."

Saya smiled, "Love, you too!"

As Saya drove off, a thought crossed her mind. Had she seen that girl somewhere before? She had no time to think about this, however, as she pulled into the parking lot. Saya took an elevator ride to the 5th floor. Saya unbuttoned one button on her flannel. But she then rebuttoned it, knowing the kind of crude woman her boss was.

As she stepped out of the elevator, heard the sound of thousands of keys beings typed furiously on. Saya looked at her watch and was in terror. She was ten minutes late. No one was looking as she made her way down to the cubicle. Saya crept her way down, her heart ringing in her ears.

"Fujin-San," Ms Katsu said, "A word?"

As Saya entered the room, a girl who looked fresh out of high school with braided pink hair bumped into her and, they both fell to the ground.

"Oh, sorry," Saya said, "Are you ok?"

"Yes, my apologize," the girl said, "I hope to see you, Monday."

Saya froze at those words as the girl picked herself up and ran out of the room. Her eyes met the gaze of Ms. Katsu, who looked seductively at the pink-haired girl as she walked away.

"Yes," Ms. Katsuki said, "She certainly has a future here."

Ms. Katsuki looked down at Saya.

"Do you need a hand, love?" She asked.

Saya quickly got to her feet and patted down her skirt.

"No, I'm fine," Saya said, "You wanted to talk to me, ma'am?"

"Yes, I did," Katsuki said, "Please have a seat."

Saya got up and sat at the chair.

"Now Fujin-San," Ms. Katuki said, "Your late again, love."

"I know I'm sorry," Saya said, "I woke up late and had to take my daughter to school."

"Fujin San," Ms. Katsuki said, "Relax, love." Ms. Katsuki placed her arms around Saya, who couldn't hide her flush red cheeks.

"Now, I'll let you off with a warning this time," Katsuki said, "But if it happens again, I'll have to punish you."

Saya couldn't help but wonder what kind of punishment she meant. But she figured that she would not want to find out.

"Yes, ma'am," Saya said.

Saya got up quickly, giving a hasty bow to her superior as she left. Saya returned to her cubicle. Ready to get her work completed, she started typing away.

"Saya," Yuki said, "Did the dragon lady burn you?"

"I thought I was about to be," Saya said, "I managed to keep my job no thanks to you."

"Hey," Yuki said, "It's not my fault the Taka-Sama never told us about his daughter."

"I'll give you that, she's kinda off," Saya said, "But I wouldn't have to deal with her if it wasn't for you."

"You seemed like you were having fun last night," Yuki said, "I got

pictures if you want them?"

Yuki flipped through his phone. He showed Saya an image of what looked to be her. But that couldn't be, she was smiling. She looked like an idiot as she sang her heart out in that little Karaoke bar. As Yuki flipped through more images, a few pleasant memories began to form the night before. But as Saya looked through the phone, she saw a picture of her dancing shirtless on the dance floor.

"Oh my god," Saya said, "Please don't tell me you showed that to anyone else."

"Don't worry," Yuki said, "I just wanted to see your reaction. You haven't been that happy since the track team."

"Well, That's because he was there," Saya thought.

Yuki promptly deleted the photo, which showed his background. It was of three girls in gleaming dresses of complementary colors.

The girls also carried weapons that matched their color scheme.

The blue one carried a Spear.

The girl in black carried a bow and looked to be a tad older than the other two.

But it was the girl in Orange that caught her eye.

"Yuki, who is that girl," Saya said, pointing to the orange girl.

"Wait, you haven't heard of them?" Yuki said, "Don't you watch the news?"

"I've been busy with work, Ok," Saya said.

"But it's been about the monster attacks?" Yuki said.

"Yuki," Saya said, "There have been monsters ever since we were kids. I can't watch every natural disaster like you."

"Well, if kept up," Yuki said, "You'd know these girls have been picking up the D.D.F's slack."

"What these little girls," Saya said, "Don't tell me there fighting those things."

"It's less one-sided than you think," Yuki said, " They're human Knight Drones."

Saya looked at the girl with the Orange hair.

"I've seen her before," Saya said.

"So you have seen the news," Yuki said, "Then why the heck were you picking on me?!"

"No, I saw her with my daughter," Saya said.

"Are you sure that you're not just hungover?" Yuki said.

"I'm telling you that's my daughter's friend," Saya said.

"Yeah, then what's her name?" Yuki asked.

"Uuh," Saya groaned, "Rei said it earlier, what was it, Ryu?"

"Like the street fighter character?" Yuki asked.

"I guess?" Saya said.

"You take no interest in your kid," Yuki said.

"Give me a break," Saya said, "She never tells me about her friends."

"Did you ever ask her?" Yuki said, "Well, whatever, you may have just seen her on T.V while you were asleep."

"Yeah, maybe your right," Saya said.

Saya clacked away at her keyboard but couldn't get that thought about that Ryu girl out of her head. She had decided that she would pick up Rei from school. Finishing her work, Saya headed back to her car and made her way there. The traffic increased much more than when it was morning. Stuck in traffic, Saya honked her horn in frustration. As Saya sat in her car in defeat, a car sailed upwards. Landing with a bright-red inferno, the car's flame and the thunderous crash sent people running for their lives.

Saya tried to leave her car as well but couldn't get through the stampede of people who were frantically fleeing the road. In her search for an opening to escape, Saya saw a little boy get trampled to the ground. Saya rushed out of the car without a thought and leaped to protect the child. Taking the boy in her arms, she ran as fast as she could through the crowd.

Saya felt a powerful force to strike her. Sending crashing downward, the only thing she thought to do was to be a shield to the boy in her arms. Curling into a ball, she lost all sense of hearing as she fell to the ground.

Saya felt the world spinning. Her hearing returning, she heard the many screams around her. As Saya looked around her, she saw nothing but utter despair. Saya crawled her way under a truck. It is split in two by the force that struck her. The flipped car beside Saya sounds its alarm. After the sound of tearing metal, the alarm went silent.

The acrid smell of car oil burnt Saya's nose. A massive foot cracks the pavement. A large three-toed giant with shining silver greaves drew its sword from the vehicle that pestered it. The sheer sharpness of the blade split the steel car like a loaf of bread.

Saya fought to keep herself from screaming, only letting out a slight cry.

"Oh, Trying to hide, are we," the Mammoth beast said.

With its strength, it threw what remained of the truck into the air. And with speed comparable to lightning, turned what was once steel into confetti. As the sparkling shards fell, Saya pleaded with fear.

"P-pleas let us go," Saya cried, "Or at least... just let the child in my arms live."

"Ho, yes," the Mammoth beast bellowed, "Beg for your worthless life."

The Mammoth beast placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, ready to draw it with the same insane speed he did before. The blade did draw blood. But from where Saya and the boy once stood, a wall of ice took their place. Before her, Saya saw a girl with blue hair and eyes. She wore a blue dress that gleamed brightly against the flames.

"That blade sliced that car in two," Saya said, "But it only left a small cut on that girl?"

The girl turned to Saya with a look of relief on her face.

"Are you ok, Ms.?" the blue-haired girl said.
