Marty sat in his dorm room, his laptop open in front of him. Code scrolled across the screen as he worked on a complex programming problem, his mind fully engrossed in the task. Phil's message was brief yet cryptic: "Marty, I need to talk to you about something important. Can we meet at the usual spot tomorrow?"

Marty leaned back in his chair, his thoughts swirling. What could be so significant that Phil wanted to discuss in person? His curiosity mingled with a sense of foreboding. "She's pregnant," Phil blurted out, his eyes locked onto Marty's.

"Complicated," Phil finished his sentence, his gaze downcast.

Phil's face displayed a mixture of determination and uncertainty. "I want to change, for Claire and the baby. I want to be someone she can rely on."

Phil's lips curled into a faint smile. "Thanks, Marty. Your faith means a lot."

"I'll be there with you when you meet him," Marty offered.

"Actually, that's what I wanted to discuss," Phil said, leaning in slightly. "I want you to meet him too."

Marty blinked in surprise. "Me? Why?"

"Because you're level-headed and smart," Phil replied earnestly. "You're better equipped to handle situations like these."
