5 "Magic"

The foundation of my life has always been control. The world around me may be chaos but I was always grounded, always in control-- of my life, of my destiny.

Magic.

Something we all dream of being able to wield, something to command to our will.

Power beyond the natural, to achieve desire and miracle. A wish, a prayer made manifest in your hands. How many have dreamed of wielding such power? What would you do to gain that power? What would you do with that power? Would you be reserved with it? would you take it to the Limit and see what's beyond?

In my previous life, I once came across an online thread asking a simple question.

[If you were reincarnated into High school DxD and given the chance to create one magic or demonic power, and or given a unique non-canon sacred gear, what would it be?]

I had seen many many options, many unique ideas. Ideas ranging from [Time alter] used by emiya to bulshit that could kill the Gods if they landed on their target properly such as finding a way to recreate [Enuma Elish] and the [Chains of Heaven]. or developing some nonsense [Dragon God Slayer] magic that allows you to curbstomp Great red and Ophis while you were blindfolded with your hands tied behind your back.

All great ideas, right?

But the questions I posed for all of this was [how]?

Although demonic power it's quite literally powered by imagination there are many prerequisites for your desires to be truly realized. for example, one major problem too many Devils suffer from is simply not having enough energy to make their imagination a reality. Then there's also a matter of their mastery and control over their own demonic energy.

In this world, demonic power and magic were two different things. Demonic power was a superpower that Devils possessed since their birth. The analysis of a Devil's demonic power and the miracles created by God to recreate them through their own theory and formula was called magic. magic, is a supernatural field of science.

For the most part, Devils needn't learn magic because they are the source of magic. just like how birds need not Learn to fly, they just do it naturally. humans, in order to imitate them built aircraft. that is the relationship between Magic and demonic power.

This doesn't mean that Devils do not learn techniques.

Like the development of martial arts, anyone can swing their fists and fight, but developing specific ways to swing their fists, they develop specific ways to fight. Demonic Powers and Magic is similar. Developing specific formulas and techniques cleans up and streamlines the usage of demonic power.

There are three things a Devil needs when using magic / demonic power:

* Imagination - Visualize their desired phenomenon in their mind.

* Creation - able to control their Demonic Power to "produce" the phenomenon.

* Good Sense - similar to Hand-Eye Coordination, except in this case, it's Demonic Power - Mind Coordination. The control of the created phenomenon.

As long as a Devil has all three of these, they can pretty much do anything they can imagine (with some limitations).

in addition to all of that, as it is something that comes from the mind, the soul, willpower, desire, emotional very important in the manifestation of demonic power.

There are some Devils who have a unique "affinity" for a certain phenomenon or concept, which can be passed down as a genetic trait.

Bael - Destruction (ability to destroy anything and everything, depending on power & skill level)

Agares - Time (Time Manipulation)

Belial - Worthlessness (make the powers & abilities of people or objects "worthless")

Phenex - Phoenix (Fire Magic, Super Regeneration, Healing Tears)

Bune - Dragon (Taming Dragons, Dragonification)

Abbadon - Hole

These "affinities" give the Devils of these blood-lines access to powers & abilities that other Devils don't.

There are some cases where a Devil only has 1 or 2 of the 3 things listed above. This limits their abilities significantly, depending on which one(s) their missing.

A good example would be a certain Devil Boy named Lirenkus.

A Devil boy Issei met in vol.10. He has Demonic Power, but he couldn't use it. Then during the events of vol.17, he recieved a Magic Book (which I think Rossweisse gave him) and he could then use Fire Magic. from this, it's easy to assume that Lirenkus has 2 of the 3 things listed:

* Imagination

* Creation

However, he doesn't have the "Good Sense" or "Demonic Power - Mind Coordination" that is needed to create & control phenomena just by imagining it. In order to make up for this, he needs to learn and use Magic the same way as Human Magicians do. Rather than using his Demonic Power as a "fuel source" to "create phenomena," he needs to manually control his Demonic Power to "construct Phenomena."

In other words, instead of "using his will and imagination," he needs to "use his head and hands"

That's the gist of it.

However, saying that imagination based devil magic is better than calculation based is like saying that steak is better than a burger. Each of them has their strong and weak point. Doing devil magic is both easy and hard. Easy that you only need your imagination and power to do it, but hard because you need to fully concentrate on the spell as long as you cast the spell.

Imagine that you want to create fireball to burn your enemy, you need all your focus to cast the devil spell, but just when you about to cast it, someone comes and screaming "EXPLOSION" right beside your ear. The result of your spell is that instead of fireball, it becomes a mighty explosion worth of power of destruction that drains all your demonic power if your spell works correctly. If not then I will bury whatever left of your body.

So taking all of this into account, the first magic to be developed has long been known to me.

In fact, for years even before I was reincarnated, a specific subset of abilities has always been my favorite. the type of ability to essentially turn the character into what would be called a [self-propelled humanoid computer].

One personal belief of mine is that any problem can be solved if you have sufficient computing power. The so-called gap between the talented and non talented can be narrowed, equaled, and outright surpassed if one has the computing power that allows for it.

So with that in mind, the first ability I developed was [Thought Acceleration]. The second being [Memory partitioning], also known as [Parallel processing]. the third was initially unintended, but came naturally as a consequence of over usage of the first two [Memory archive].

[Though Acceleration] an ability so simple yet so powerful in its usage. initially, I was able to accelerate my information processing capabilities by 40 times, now, acceleration is reached a thousand times. That is to say, for every second that passes by, I would have performed 16 minutes worth of thinking processes. 24 hours worth of thought processes in a minute and a half.

And the best part? it's not tied to my perception of time. if I wanted to, I could have my perception of time flow stay normal, or accelerate it to a thousand times.

Which means that even if I perform 24 hours worth of calculations, for me it only feels like 1 minute and 30 seconds have passed. 8 hours equals a year, yet still only feels like 8 hours.

[Memory partitioning] The second ability, further takes The Accelerated thought process, and segments it like a computer would.

Thought Memory Partition is an ability used by the superior alchemists of Atlas. Paired with Thought Acceleration, the very proof that one is an Atlas alchemist, it is the ability to partition their thoughts to form multiple independent thought processes. While normal people can only have a single "room" in their brain and focus on one thought, partitioning adds partitions to the one room to create multiple rooms. The prerequisite for the superior alchemists of Atlas is at least three rooms, while five is on the level of a genius. Sion Eltnam Atlasia can manage seven partitions, while a past Academy Director had achieved eight partitions.

It is different than having multiple independent machines in their heads because, while there are multiple processes, they work toward one goal. They manage different problem sets, but work together to generate one overall solution. While machines can calculate on the same level, nothing else compares when used for problem solving. The limit of an average alchemist is one thought into multiple rooms, but superior alchemists can perform first−order tetration of their thought into rooms.

In addition, the rooms are synergistic.

for example, Four partitions allows for 256 thought processes. As they work towards one goal, it does not allow for 256 separate calculations.

Through 5 years of practice, I have managed to achieve 5 partitions. That is about 3125 thought process is all focus on the same goal. This combined with thought acceleration, I am basically a living computer.

[Memory archive] as the name implies, is an archive of my memories. everything that I experienced, from sight, sound, taste, touch, smell, thoughts, emotions, calculations, random fleeting ideas. All of it perfectly recorded. in fact, the need for this was that I overestimated my own memory when performing thought acceleration. when the speed of thought is moving that fast, it's easy to forget things.

Still, even with this, even with 3 abilities that already guarantees me to become a Satan, I'm still not satisfied. Even with all of this, I could not escape this greed of mine.

Even with a brain that functions similar to a computer, it still wasn't a complete computer yet. there's still things that it could not do.

Also, there was still something that I, as a reincarnator, had always wanted, but did not have. A [system].

So I came to a conclusion. build my own computer [system]. inspired by many things such as countless reincarnator stories protagonist with protagonists who randomly get one for no apparent reason. (and a certain slime with a certain great sage)

The first three developed demonic powers as a starting point, i used thought acceleration and parallel processing to write the code with a self made version of c+ combined with devil text, then used memory archive to save and launch said code, I succeeded in writing a patented DIY magic operating system packed full with all kinds of features.

A magic that works similar to [Archive] Magic from the anime Fairy Tail.

Lastly, taking the name of the micro operating system I tried but failed to build in my previous life.
