41 Guild Training

Snow Fall waited by the NPC who just nearly killed her three times.

Three times she tried to cross the bridge suspended over the gorge of the wind golems, and three times she fell to her death.

In those three falls, she had enough time to log off and take medication to treat her anxiety.

'If he isn't here soon, I swear he's just torturing us!'

Frankly, it wasn't that, but it was that Thrasher didn't realize this was now Virtual Reality. When this wasn't virtual reality, if you fell, perhaps you'd have to wait an hour. Now, there was real, physical trauma and he'd feel bad if he saw her fall to her death.

She also knew that certain guilds had really intense rituals to join. Some of the guilds had things similar to hazing in college fraternities. For weeks, they'd have to do things like fight level one wolves, or stand on a log over a windy tundra.

'Wait, that's him! Calm down, Snow Fall!'

Snow Fall put on a smile as Thrasher walked up with Purple Monarch. Her body hurt so much from sitting on this rock for an hour waiting for him. On the other hand, her two guild mates, Night Spawn, and Starlight Ocean were still on the bridge.

Thrasher appeared with a smile on his face.

"Ah, It's so nice to see you again Falls!"

Snow Fall cringed hearing that word. Why did her name have to have the word Falls in it?

"Yes, thank you Thrasher! I'm sorry I was just taking a little break…" She really was taking a break hoping that he would just let her stay in the guild without doing this quest again.

At the bridge, there was a small dwarf named Stone Domingo, an NPC who gave this quest. The quest was to make it to the end of the bridge, and it was only a D rank quest! However, for some reason, she could swear Thrasher put something in his hand.

While this was happening, she also heard a humming sound in the background, but didn't think anything of it.

"Hmmm, well, we appreciate her efforts, right Monarch?"

"Yup, guild head! She's probably fallen at least three times! I remember this quest…"

Snow Falls wanted to cringe but kept it inside. "Yes, it is indeed a hard quest… I swear its probably even harder in virtual reality."

"Oh… did you fall more then once," Thrasher laughed realizing he forgot the simulations in this game were close to reality. In fact, that means she fell off a suspension bridge. He had done that once with his master, but that sounded like A+ training material.

"Yup, three times! I never made it past the 50th Wind Giant before plummeting."

Thrasher nodded his head. "Yes, falling is the only way to truly get stronger. When you fall, you allow your heart to become one with nature… It's the grace of every warrior to fall in defeat…"

"Ah, well… Just don't make me do it again, kay?"

"Yes, captain… I'm surprised they even kept this quest! It must have been pretty terrifying falling…"

Purple Monarch remembered even being minorly scared in the game while completing the quest, and she was no exception.

"It was actually really worth it!" She squeezed the words out of her mouth. Whatever she did right now, out of all things, she had to earn his trust, and respect.

"I like you, your getting one epic item…" Thrasher held out his hand and reached to pull her up.

She smiled and then accepted this. In the background, she kept hearing that humming sound, but once again ignored it.

"Yes! Thank you so much for allowing me this opportunity!" She grinned as they shook hands. He was looking down into her green eyes with a fierce, mature look that didn't match his somewhat crazy persona.

It was like there was secrets inside her head, and every fall was worth unlocking that palace. Needless to say, to get that to unfold, she might have to fall from a few more places, and then Thrasher said something she didn't want to hear.

"Your joys are only beginning!"

He laughed and then walked over to the NPC before pulling out one orange coin.

As he passed him, the orange coin mysteriously ended up in the NPCs hand. Once this happened, the earth giants suddenly disappeared that were blocking the exit of the bridge.

"Well… always a pleasure doing business with such a fine man!" The NPC happily ran away from the bridge in fear of one of the gods getting him.

Truthfully, this NPCs quest wasn't supposed to be in the field, and not by the bridge. However, many players would bribe NPCs to do put there quests in interesting places. These wind golems when put by the bridge were the perfect exercise for new recruits. Though, it seemed he lost a guild member.

At this time, Starlight Ocean, and Night Spawn fell down on the bridge with sheer exhaustion on their faces.

Luckily, there time here was over, and Thrasher could take them back to the old base for harder training.

"Well… you guys are probably tired… Let's go get you some food, okay?"

Starlight Ocean grinned as she looked up at Thrasher. In her exhaustion, she thought a halo was on his head.

"Thank you, Mr. Angel! I appreciate the offer"

"Yes, go away, and stop bothering us… the giants are here!" Night Spawn said this causing Thrasher to grin.

"I think you two are going to be great members… Don't you think so Purple Monarch?"

Purple Monarch nodded his head before he looked down at his watch.

"Yes… they're great captain! However, we're late for the ambush!"

Thrasher could only gulp forgetting he thought he was going to get ambushed.
