Chapter 18: Down The Rabbit Hole We Go

We stepped towards the empty field right after crossing the Blood River. I mind link Draco asking where is Illus and all the answer I got from her is that he is here. We walk around the empty field trying to figure out where is he if Lady Draco said that he's here. Is she playing a trick on us I wonder, "It's not a trick child. Illus is here. All you have to do is look harder. Do you think he will let you find him easily. The field is just an illusion to trick anyone from finding him." said Draco. I told everyone to use their powers to find Illus whereabouts. Anubis tried casting a spell to reveal any hidden magic that a naked eye couldn't see. With that we found a transparent door few meters to our left. We walk towards it and I tried to feel for a door knob to open it.

Once I manage to pry open the door we saw a huge space decorated nicely. It looks like an interior of a house or a mansion. We walked in quietly so that we would not alert anyone that we are in just in case any of them tried to attack us. Stepping in, I felt that something was not right in this house as my mind link with Dragno and Draco are cut off as I couldn't reach out to them. "Be careful everyone, somethings not right here. My telepathy connection with my familiars seems to be block out by something. It seems that this house is blocking it." I said as we walk further into the house to find Illus. "Clank!!" a loud sound came from below us, I look towards where the sound came from and found out that one of Rogue's feet stepped in a tile and it sink an inch below. "It's a bobby trap!" said Nick as we started to panic and told her not to move from the spot. "Ok everyone, the moment Rogue lifts her leg be careful and cast a defensive spell around first. Jacob, Rogue could the both of you cast a strong defensive spell just in case?" said Anubis. They did as he told and Rogue slowly lifts her leg up from the tile.

The place was dead silent and nothing is happening around us as we would expect. "Well that's weird. Why isn't anything happening?" said Rose as we all observe our surroundings carefully. "Grrrrr..." we all heard growling sounds coming from the end of the corridor. All i could see was a shadow of a creature walking towards our direction and it seems that it's not alone. "I think it can smell us. We are doom to be fresh juicy meats for whatever that's coming at us in any seconds." said Nick. Then we saw it, a huge dog like creature with fangs sharp and long, saliva dripping down its mouth looking at us with their red eyes as we are their meals. "It's a Hellhound." said Rose as we all froze at our spot. "I thought Hellhounds only feed on satyrs. Why are they coming at us?" I said trying to find a way for us to escape. Both me and Anubis looked at each other and it seems like we both have the same thing in mind. "We'll run to the corridor infront of us. Both me and Anubis will create a distraction while we make an opening the rest of you run towards where the Hellhounds came from. They might be guarding near Illlus." I said as Anubis and I prepare to attack.

We made a count down to one, both Anubis and I shot fireballs towards the Hellhounds blinding them for a few seconds to let everyone run. "GO!!" I said as everyone dash towards where the Hellhounds came from. We ran as fast as we can with me and Anubis at the back casting spells on the Hellhounds to slow it down from catching up to us. "Damn it! It's a dead end!" said Jacob, we are all trapped and there is no chance of escape as the Hellhounds will reach to us anytime soon. "There should be a path. Search around to see if there are any hidden buttons or handles." I said as everyone tried searching around for it. "I found it!" said Nick as he pulled a lever of an lamp at a corner. A loud bang came from above us and the next thing I know we are no longer standing on a floor, instead it was an empty space below us. We started falling down towards a dark hole, all I could hear are everyone's scream. What is at the bottom? Is this our end?
