1 History

Once, long ago, there was nothing. No water, no land, no life. But then the empty universe was filled with great mists, these mists consumed the whole of reality until they dissipated leaving a single world. Luminess. And after this world was created, the great mist came again. It lingered for several days before departing leaving life. Beast, and bird, and fish now roamed Luminess, sculpting the land even more, and once the world was ready, the great mist came one, final, time. This time the mist left those that would rule this world, the Illuminated. The Illuminated were born with the ability to control minor mists, to bend them to their will. Over time they developed some unique qualities, some had patches of scales on their skin, others could melt away their form to something different, along with many others. Over time the Illuminated grew apart, splitting in to two tribes the Flare, who believed in strength above all else, and the Flicker, who believed in cunning, and intelligence. Whilst neither was large in number, they both were very powerful relying on the ability to control mists. The two tribes soon began fighting over land and natural resources, leaving the world as it is now.

Stepping away from the wall Blud ran a hand through his hair. He had vibrant blue eyes, and a twisted, almost demented grin. His hair was blond and messy, he was wearing black medieval style dress shirt. The buttons on Blud's shirt were silver, and his boots, and pants were also a deep black, with some slight silver embellishments, unlike the shirt which was plain, with just a simple design, and no ruffles on the sleeves or collar.

Blud crossed to the other side of the cave and pulled open the door, blinding light pored into the dimly lit room. He winced and blinked a couple of times rubbing his eyes.

"The light is always much to bright after exiting a dark place." Blud whispered to himself walking out the door, and closing it behind him. 'This history, the elders always speak of is nothing, they order us to reach 14 before reading it, but for what?' He wondered 'Perhaps they are attempting to conceal the natures of the war? But, I already knew this, oh, that was fun. They had no idea." He laughed loudly, as if he was insane but the rest of the village had come to expect this of him. He walked through the empty hallway leading away from entrance to the cave, still laughing but more quietly now. The walls were stone and decorated with black banners with the Flicker crest upon them, a silver flame with a gray dagger stabbed down into the flame. He made it to the end of the hall and a large wooden door opened in front of him.

"Your back, good, that means you've read the full history I presume?" Asked a middle aged man with a blond bear, and a receding upper hair line. His clothes were more eccentric than Blud's with the Flicker crest on his chest, and more embellishments along the rest. He wore a large silver cloak over his shoulders, and a silver crown with green and red gems, which appeared to have a fog swirling inside them, set into the base.

"Yes father, I've read our history, now is this whole ceremony done?" Blud asked rudely.

"You mustn't be so hasty there is more to do than simply read the history..." He said waving his hand exocentrically whilst rising from his seat.

"Well than, let's get on with it." Suddenly one of the guards by the door Blud had emerged from rushed forward and grabbed him by the arm. The guard had dark skin, and short hair. "What are you doing?" Blud demanded. The guard didn't answer, instead drawing a long deep blue knife from a sheath oh his belt.

Blud looked over to his father who just sat on the large wooded chair, with his feet up on the long table before him. He looked back to the guard who was raising his knife, preparing to strike. Blud then rapidly twisted his arm free and jumped back. As the guard approached Blud ran at the much larger man and knocked him to the floor with his shoulder. Surprising everyone in the room except for himself, because he was only 14, and rather skinny. He wasn't very big, in fact he was almost small but he seemed to be much stronger that he looked.

He laughed. A loud insane laugh, different and more demented than anyone was used to. "You fools thought you could kill me, but you know nothing." Blud leapt forward drawing his knife and plunged the blade toward the guards neck. As the steel neared his flesh his skin turned into a deep blue shell like exoskeleton. Blud landed on top of the guard who now had a strange exoskeleton all over his whole body. He plunged the blade at the man's neck multiple more times "What? How did you-" A dull pain echoed through his skull. Whilst he had been trying to stab the first guard another had walked up from behind and hit him with the pommel of his sword. Blud fell off the first guard, his vision fading, and as he looked up the last thing he saw was the knife being raised, and than plunged toward him.
