15 Anger (2)

She looked at Connor's handsome face, he could pick any girl out there, and they would graciously accept his feelings. He was young, rich and accomplished. He was the perfect man every girl dreams about. He shouldn't waste his time with a woman like her. She was still married, disabled and no future.

Accomplishments?

She had a lot, in the past. All of them are talks in the past, right now she was recovering from being an alcoholic with emotional problems.

She could only reply the same as always to show that she was alright, "Thank you. As you can see I'm doing better." Anne showed her smile.

She hoped he'll believe her.

Connor looked at Anne, he was trying to scrutinize her words and actions. He knew she was not telling the whole truth but to his surprise, she really does look like she's fine. Although she looks thinner and missing one arm, she had rosy cheeks that showed her complexion was healthy. Her house was in order, and from the things in her kitchen and fridge, her diet was composed of healthy food. This made him relieved thinking that she was coping with her accident.

"I'm glad." His expression said it all. He was truly glad and relieved.

"Is there something you need help with?" Connor asked but this time he really just wanted to assist her in case there was something she needed help with. If there was something he could do then he'd help her to the best of his ability.

"I'm doing fine right now. I can't think of anything that I need help with." This was the truth as the current moment in her life she is doing better. It can be considered she was starting to walk on her own.

"I see." Connor felt disappointed as he was unable to help Anne.

Anne could see Connor's disappointment as she said, "But if there is something I need I'll look for you." She was truly thankful for Connor's care.

Connor's expression lightened as he heard Anne's words. He did not want to push anything else at the moment. He drank the leftover tea on his cup. It was already cold. He checked the window outside, the sky was already dark. He did not notice the time and he did not want to disturb Anne any further.

He stood up from the chair and said, "It's getting late. I'll come back some other time."

"Thank you for coming, Connor. It means a lot to me that you took the time to visit even with your busy schedule." Anne walked together with Connor to the doorway and was almost out of the door when Connor stopped her.

"You should rest. I'm fine up to here." He said with a warm smile before turning his back and walking.

Anne could not do anything else as she stood there standing at her front door. She could only watch the back of Connor as he walked farther away from her sight. Once he was gone, she closed the door.

Connor got into his car while deep in contemplation. He was holding onto the wheel but he did not have any other movements. Suddenly, he gripped the wheel tightly. It was full of strength as the veins in his hands started to show like worms wiggling on his hands.

He was frustrated.

He was angry.

He did not know where to put all his anger aside from the wheel in front of him.

He raised both of his hands over his head and with his full force…

*Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep*

*Aaaaaah*

The long sound of his car horn can be heard in the underground parking space. It echoed… some of the car alarms near his car started to sound. As if it was contagious as one car to another also started to alarm.

It was noisy but he did not seem to mind all the noise outside his car.

*huff huff huff*

His shout was covered by the loud sound of the car horns and the blazing alarms of the other cars. His eyes looked furious. He tried his best to calm his mind as he pulled out his phone. A couple of swipes were all it took before he was able to find the number he was looking for.

He pressed the key and waited for the other person to pick up, but to no avail.

*Beep Beep Beep*

"The number you dialed is not available. Please try your call later."

He looked at the number once more and hatred started to burn in his eyes.

"If you don't want to pick up then I'll come looking for you."

Once he had made this decision, he started his car and drove away. He felt his heart was suffocating as he watched Anne trying to act strong while she was alone in her apartment. All his pent-up anger had nowhere left to go aside from one person.

What was left in the parking lot were the sounds of the car alarms that have not subsided.
