(Chapter 5) That Shinigami, An Alluring Dream (Part 1 of 2)

Amoura closed the door of her chambers, spiting some blood residue out of her mouth. She had won the battle against the demon, collecting the souls that were left in the flames of fire right after. Of course she had fought the demon first, it couldn't be helped any other way. In the end, she won, she was the victor, like every other time she fought. She could have gone against anyone- literally almost anyone -and she would win. She was powerful, mighty.

She was a God.

Left from the battle, were some scars of cuts that would heal quickly if she got enough rest. The reaper collapsed suddenly to the floor, coughing. The fight was rough, she admitted such, but she was still alive, and that was always enough. She looked at the hand that she had coughed into. No surprise, there was blood. There wouldn't be anything else, would there?

If she had fought better- payed more focus - then surely things would've been better. Alas, everything had already passed, as there was nothing that she could do about it now but rest.

Rest... Yes, she needed that right now. She could do that at the moment as we speak, right? Her shift wasn't over, but she had no souls left to collect in about 12 hours. Yes, she could take some time. She felt that she really needed it now and not as a sleep-in excuse for when father would come to wake her for late time slumbers.

She wanted to sleep, but she had to bandage her stomach first before. The demon had a cursed weapon- not enough to kill her, but to definitely cut deep and leave the victim in weakness - which he got to slash her with during the scene. She also could have avoided that if she wasn't so careless.

~~~
Amoura hissed, wrapping the bandage around herself tightly. The pain was real for her, as she held her breath for a few seconds. Is this what it felt like to a demon when she would be the one to penetrate them with her scythe? Most likely, that she thought.
She was fine, her body was fine. This reaper wasn't going to die anytime soon. It would be impossible at the moment, as she wasn't even injured enough to get her half way to her own death. It was just really painful, it stung her insides. Every time she had been cut like this- which was rarely ever -was when she would not put all her effort.
It may have seemed that Amoura was being serious back there - she was,- but her mind was being taunted and messed with, causing her to defect. Surprising that such things would seep into a reapers mind like that. It was more surprising for the fact that it had gotten to somebody like her.
Amoura stumbled entering back into her chambers (A Term for bedroom way back in the past). She wanted to slap herself on the spot, but she was also too tired for that as well. Oh how she was regretting not killing the demon when she had the chance--
Ah yes, that's right. She didn't even exterminate him like she had fiercely planned to. Another sign of her stupidity that she would never forget until many years.
The battle... it felt like it was over for her when the demon had given up, a torn off limb and a hole marking from her scythe to his abdomen. More thoughts from her, she felt uneasy just thinking about it.
She shook it all off, laying to her bed in utter weakness. She was almost completely drained, and she didn't even do much compared to other shifts that she had taken. Though, she did still fight a demon today. That was not a regular, it wasn't usual that you would fight a demon every time you went to work.
Amoura was ready to drift off anytime soon, closing her eyes and surrendering to peace.
