33 Interrogation Part Two

"Her name is Linda and as she asked earlier, is there anything wrong in being human?" I throw at the infuriating woman.

"Nothing at all, except humans, does not relate with supernaturals neither do they know of us and you not only expose yourself but all other supernatural beings be it werewolves, vampires or witches which is against the law guiding us."

"It is against the law I don't know about like I said earlier I grew up among humans." I defended.

"How did you end up there?"

"It was my mother's last wish that I live among humans."

"Last wish to who?"

"The person she left me with."

"Who is the person?"

"A witch."

"A witch in the vampire town? Because I know that no witch here will honor such wish and take a werewolf to live with humans knowing the consequences."

"Yes, you are right, a witch in the vampire town where I was born."

"Why did your mother ask for you to be taken to live with humans and not for you to be brought here?"

"That is a question I want you to answer because even I don't know."

"I don't believe you."

"Then you will have to find a way to communicate with the dead so you can interrogate her, you seem good at it." I spit. She didn't seem bothered by it.

"Why do you have the scents of vampires all over you?"

"Because I lived in the vampire town for a short while before coming here."

"Define short while."

"Three months."

"Is that where you met your friends?"

"Yes."

"Three months and you already declared them your best friend, and brought them here, isn't that a hasty decision?"

"To my knowledge, werewolves have to only meet their mate once before falling in love."

"How do you know that?"

"Research."

"What were you doing in the vampire town for three months?"

"The woman who took care of me, my grandma died and the witch who took me to the human inherited my custody through human laws."

"Why would a witch if she has your well-being in mind allow a werewolf to come live in a town full of vampires?"

"Because she thought I was latent still two months ago when I had my first change." The quiet crowd who had been watching the interrogation begin to murmur.

I look at my father and was he was stunned by what I said same goes for the others.

"Silence!" the woman shouted.

"Latent? You didn't go through transition till two months ago? How old are you child?" the woman asks at once.

"First, I became eighteen barely two weeks ago and yes they thought I was latent."

"They?"

"The witch and my grandma."

"So the human knew what you were."

"Yes, she did, I had abilities that contradict me being human and my looks say it all."

"Transition is like puberty to werewolves and it happens between the age of fourteen and sixteen and you were close to eighteen when it happened, do you know the reason why?"

"No," I lied with a straight face, I am not about to tell them about what my mom did so she can be judged further."

"Your first transition was in the vampire town, how weren't you detected."

"I wasn't in the town when it happened, the witch taking care of me predicted the transition was probable, so we left town for a few days."

"Predict how? You claimed she thought you were latent."

"I showed some signs of transition briefly after, I moved to the town."

"Have you always known what you were?"

"Not until the signs started, and I started asking questions."

"So you were denied the knowledge and if you haven't shown a sign that you weren't latent, you wouldn't have known what you were."

"That's right."

"And you are not bothered?"

"What you don't know can't hurt you. I won't have cared then, but now that I know, I am happy to because I get to meet my father." I said smiling at my father.

"Why do you smell different? Is it the witch doing?"

"No."

"Since when did you know about vampires and how?"

"The same time I found out about werewolves and witches from the witch."

"Do you recognize anyone as vampires from your stay there?"

"Yes, after my first change, I could distinguish the scent of humans, witches, and vampires."

"Did you by chance come in contact with the vampire royals?"

"Royals?"

"It is common knowledge even to humans that the town is being led by Ambrose's family although they go by Thorne's now. Did you come into contact with any of them?"

"Yes."

"Who in particular?"

I thought about lying but decided against, if Nicole is bitter enough to announce to the vampires I am their enemy, I may be hunted down to here, it would be better they know that.

"All of them."

I saw the anxious look on their faces.

"All?"

"Yes, I came in contact with Mr. Thorne who I presume is the vampire King at the engagement of Lucien Thorne and Freya Michaels, but I had previously met Nicolette Thorne, the twin of Lucien Thorne and Daniel Michaels the best friend of Lucien Thorne. They all attended the school I went ."

"So you are familiar with them."

"Yes."

"How familiar?"

"Nicolette was a friend of mine till she found out what I am which led me to escape their town."

"Do you know how your mother died?"

"She was killed by vampires for a crime she didn't commit."

"So you don't believe she killed the vampire queen."

"Yes, I don't think my mother would have killed Aunt Greta."

"Aunt Greta?"

"Vampire or not, she was my mother's best friend."

"There is no love lost between you and the vampires despite knowing they killed your mother."

"Because they believe she killed their queen."

"You defend them fiercely I must add."

"I am not taking any sides as you are implying, I am just stating my opinion."

"And your opinion defends your mother's killers and your people's enemies."

I stay silent because for the first time I didn't have a reply.

"Do you how your mother was killed?"

"No," I whispered.

"She was killed like the witch she was, brutally burnt beyond recognition to death while she was still alive."

I felt the blood drained from my face, I never thought about how she was killing, only why.

"Pup, the monsters you befriended and defend are nothing but brutal monsters who burnt a pregnant woman to death."

Pregnant? Are we still talking about the same thing?

"What do you mean pregnant?"

"Your mother's body was sent to us and she was with a child."

"It is not possible, how the hell am I here? Alive."

"That I don't know but we cremated two people, both mother, and child."

"You are mistaken," I whisper, I felt a warm hand touch me,

"I guess that your mother had twins, she delivered you first and left you with her guardian witch, drew attention away from you by baiting herself not knowing your sibling was still in her womb, she was caught and burnt to death."

The elder's voice was like a background sound all I could hear or see was my mother and my sister or brother screaming as they were burnt to death, saw myself watching from a distance, safe.

The ground begins to shake, I heard a thundering roar, I could hear a voice shout my name from a distance.

The place is windy and I look down and saw everyone except Janet and my father taking cover under the table.

Si! You must stop it!

A voice said again from a distance.

Silver!

Another voice said.

I felt cold hands on my feet, holding me tight, dragging me down still I was on the floor and then I felt a hug, the thunder, the wind, earthquake stopped then I blacked out.
