34 A Gambling Session Gone Wrong

"Can't you tell them that you're not interested in their niece?"

"No."

"Uhhhhhh okay? Lizzie seems to be fine with me, so I assume Charlie is the problem."

"Yes."

Damn it! Speak full sentences, Mr Wilson!

We had dinner with Charlie and Lizzie that night. I could not believe that Charlie has motives to set Mr Wilson up with his niece. Like, is he even sane? Who would want to choose Mr Wilson while he is still sane?

The Devil- cough you cough

Anyway, the couple did not force us to stay longer after dinner; we went back to the guesthouse. Yeah, there was a TV, but if I turned it on, Mr Wilson would come along and change the channel to something he likes without even considering my feelings so no, I'm not doing that.

It was only nine, and I was very bored, Mr Wilson was reading a book while I was playing some games on my phone. The battery could last only so long before running out. I swear, I need a phone with 500% battery rather than 100%, you know, I might just sell this idea to Mr Wilson since he's been thinking about getting himself involved in electronic manufacturing too. Work is this guy's first love.

As you guys already know, I like exploring houses and Lizzie said she would show me their house. I gladly followed her. The house was awesome, it had a royal feeling to it. Anyway, the room which caught my eye the most is the game room. It was like a mini casino. I got so excited; I love playing cards, the only drawback is that I don't like to play with money so I don't get to play often. Ya'll already aware that I'm stingy, so no further explanations regarding that. I asked Lizzie if I could borrow a pack of cards and she said yes! She did not just give me any old card pack; she gave a vintage one of a kind card pack which cost a lot. I have to make sure I don't lose it.

Mr Wilson was wearing reading glasses, he looked smart and mature while he read the book. One would assume he's a smart person, but I know that he's an extremely petty, tantrum throwing child. I still don't get why my heart beats fast when I see him.

"Hey Mr Wilson, wanna play cards?" I smirked at him and showed off the pack of cards.

Like an elegant prince, he slowly looked up and titled his head to show that he's interested.

Oh? So he knows how to play? Excellent- in the voice of Mr Burns ;) (did you get that ref?)

"Okay, poker? Wanna bet?" I'm definitely going to bet this time. I know Mr Wilson's expression always appears monotonous, but I have mastered the art of deciphering his face. If there are small wrinkled forming near his eyes, he's secretly smiling. If his eyes start drooping then he's extremely pissed off at someone. If he slightly tugs the right side of his lips, it means that he's frustrated.

And with the above-mentioned tips, you too can figure out when to approach him and when to run away. These special tips are brought to you by Amelia Smith, sponsored by her dignity. Figuring out Mr Wilson is subjected to mental and financial risk, please read his expression properly before proceeding. Terms and conditions applied.

Don't you guys dare sue me!

"What are the stakes?" He smirked. Oh, he's in, he's definitely in. He may be intellectually smarter than me, but I am street smart.

"Hmmm, if I win, you have to grant me three wishes, don't worry, nothing against your morals."

"Do I look like a genie, Ms Brown? Three is far too much, one wish."

"Two!"

"Deal!"

"And if you win.....?"

"You have to cook for me for a month." Mr Wilson shut the book and crossed his legs like a King on a throne.

"Hey isn't this too much. All I get it two wishes while I have to cook for you for a month." I remarked. This condition is completely exploitative in nature.

"Well Ms Brown, what if one of your requests is that I pay you double for three months, then I can't deny the wish can I? In fact, I am being lenient with you. You should thank me as a matter of fact."

Wait a damn minute. Did he just try to convince me that he was doing me a favour by making me cook for him?

"I must say, you're communication skills are impressive-" Mr Wilson put on a haughty expression when I said that. I then continued, "But it does not work on me. I have been working with you for over a month and I learned a lot about the way you do things. Let's make a deal. If I win, you grant me three wishes which I can cash in whenever I want and if you win, I'll cook for you as long as I work here, not just for a month."

He hummed at my offer. He was definitely interested in the offer, but why? Are my cooking skills much better than that of a five-star restaurant? * proud af* Hehehe. :D

"All right, Ms Brown, since you're insisting so much, I'll agree to this bet." According to him, I'd be cooking for him for two years, home cooked meal free of cost, of course it's a great deal! And since it's made by me, it's going to be awesome. Oh, don't mind me~ I'm an awesome cook~

"Okay then, best out of three. I'll deal the cards." Yeah, I was pretty confident about myself. If I lost, I'm probably going to die in shame. I would probably dig a hole and bury myself in it but Mr Wilson would pull me out of the pit while saying "Oh no you don't. We have an agreement."

He'd probably never let this go, but it was a risk I was willing to take! It's now or never. Oh god, I never really asked you for much, but I really need your help and lots of luck. Ever since I met Mr Wilson, it turned me into a real religious person. I started praying every time he throws a tantrum and behaves like a total baby.

After I dealt the cards I looked at mine, I got two kings, you know, maybe God likes me. I studied Mr Wilson's expression. There was a very slight tug and I could guess that he was not happy with his cards. With a stoic expression, he looked at me as if asking me to show the next card. I flipped one over. Okay, there are wrinkles, I repeat, there are wrinkles. He's either happy or he's conning me knowing that I memorised and observed his expressions!

Now all the cards were revealed. Unfortunately, I did not have a pair with the cards on the table, but since I have two kings, it becomes a pair- I still have a chance, a 50/50 chance.

We showed our cards, Mr Wilson had a three of hearts and a Diamond Queen. There was a three in the cards below, but since I have two Kings, Kings being a higher card than three, I won the round.

"Hahaha! In your face! Ahem, I mean, I am very lucky, Mr Wilson." Yesssssssssssss!

"Save it, Ms Brown. There are still two games to go. Don't count your eggs before the chicken hatches."

Huh? What the hell does that mean? Did losing the round mess with his mind?

"What does that even mean-"

He interrupted me. He snatched the cards from me and said, "This time, I will be dealing."

This time I got seven of hearts and six of clovers. At first I did not think luck was on my side but, after Mr Wilson revealed the cards placed on the table, I became more confident.

There was a five of diamonds, eight of diamonds, four of spades, King of diamonds and a clover ace. Oh, yeah~ I had a 'straight'- this means that my cards were part of a sequence, there was a four and five on the table, a six and seven in my hand and an eight on the table- a sequence. If I was betting money, I would have put in all my money. Mr Wilson better be ready to become my genie.

I saw Mr Wilson's face but there was no change, no frustration, no signs of happiness, nothing at all.

"Well, Mr Wilson, get ready to fulfil my three wishes because I just got a 'straight'." I placed my cards on the table and crossed my legs. Giving off the same attitude he gave off earlier.

Mr Wilson started laughing loudly, this equals to a maniac laughter. I was worried and suspicious. Why do I feel bad? "Sorry to burst your bubble Ms Brown, actually no, not sorry. Here, have a look at my cards." He gracefully placed his cards on the table.

My heart stopped for a second. He had a two of diamonds and eight of diamonds! He's got a flush! (so basically five cards of the same symbol, he has two diamond cards with him and there are three diamond cards on the table)

My mouth made a huge 'O'. *o*

"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?"

"Don't be too surprised, Ms Brown. We're officially tied. Now, since I'm the better person, I'll let you deal the cards." He gave off a very careless and confident aura. This made me gulp. Okay, if I lose, I have to cook for him. Not a big deal, right?

"How about we increase the stakes, Ms Brown? The loser has to reveal a secret she has been keeping." He smirked.

"!!!"

Does he know something? And 'she'? He's sure that I'll lose?
