Chapter 43: Hey Cutie!

"Why is she even here?" "I can't believe she has the nerve to show up." "That girl is so disgusting! Doing it at school!" "She shouldn't be here!" Those words echoed through the hallway. It was the sounds of my classmates... their stories... who are they talking about exactly?!

My heart dropped to my stomach as I had that sharp feeling that I knew who they were talking about. Still, I shouldn't really just jump into conclusions... they could be talking about anyone for all I know. So I exclusively just remain calm and chill for a bit!

I took a deep breath, calming my nerves as I tried to go inside the room with Molly following along behind me with an apathetic look in her face. I smiled and gladly entered the room until everyone suddenly stared at me.

Their eyes were like daggers piercing through my skin. Looking at me with a suspicious look in their face.

Huh? Did I do something wrong? Why are people suddenly staring at me for no reason? I don't really remember doing anything that would cause animosity... I started to ponder as I silently got to my seat with Molly still following my trail to sit next to me on the empty chair.

I turned to my side to see Lawrence sleeping like a baby in his armchair. I poke his head happily, trying to annoy him. I still notice everyone staring at me. Why are they like that. I shrugged it off, leading him to get annoyed and wake up from his little nap.

"Wake up sleepy head." I cheerfully greeted him from his short slumber.

"Ugh... leave me alone... I want to sleep... can you not do something while I'm trying to sleep? You're getting annoying you know that.." He responded to my poking, cranky as ever.

"Where did the teacher go? I saw her just walk out of the classroom..." I asked him.

He sighed, returning back to sleeping on his arm. "Apparently something happened, and they needed an urgent meeting. So they said they will postponing this class all of a sudden. Although not to worry they'll be back the next hour. I hope although good news for me! No teacher for a bit, I can actually sleep..." He continued back to sleeping peacefully.

"Huh? So you mean all of the first hour classes are canceled? Like legit no teacher is teaching for the whole school?!" I continued to pester Lawrence for more information.

He growled slightly. "YES. THEY ARE ALL CANCELED. So now I need to sleep.. bye..."

Did something happen? Something urgent? What could have happened to cause all of the classes to be canceled for this hour? That's honestly weird. Something terrible must have happened to cause this.

"Huh? Where is the teacher? Is she coming back?" Molly turned to me to ask.

"Apparently she had to go to an urgent meeting currently. It was something important, so all classes were canceled for the first house. Basically, we got this classroom all to ourselves!" I replied to her question, cheerfully grabbing her hands.

"We should be besties! How about we share phone numbers so we can be texting buddies!" She cheerfully offered to me.

"Sure! I'll be glad to actually! I've always wanted to have a good texting buddy! I smiled from ear to ear, giving her my phone number and vice versa.

As we finished exchanging our numbers, we noticed that everyone was going out all of a sudden. The crowd of students was seen from the windows and through the hallways. It was a handful of people, and some of them were heading to the cafeteria.

Huh? Why are they heading to the cafeteria? It's not break time, right?" I recoiled my head towards the door to see some of my classmates going out of the room.

"I guess since there's no teacher, they can eat in the cafeteria. I mean I don't think it's bad to go to the cafeteria to eat right?" Molly suggested.

"Oh! I see! We should probably buy something from the cafeteria! I'm actually getting hungry. Maybe a little snack would be fine! Come on, join me there!" I told her, although, to my surprise, she frowned, turning dismissive with the idea. "Oh no, I'm good. You can buy a quick snack! I'll wait here for you okay?" She tells me. I nodded, agreeing to her demands.

Before I got out, I smacked Lawrence's head, whispering into his ear. "Do you want anything? I'm going to buy something from the cafeteria. Do you want some fries or something? I heard they sell them there."

He didn't really answer; I guess he's not really in the mood for some french fries. I mean, he looks really exhausted, so I suppose I should let him sleep for a bit! I chuckled and grabbed some of the cash from my wallet, and went straight to the cafeteria.

As I passed by the other students, I've noticed that all of them were often really distant to me. Giving me dirty looks as I passed by them through the corridors. Some of them even laughing if I looked at them. What.. what's going? Why are they suddenly acting that way when I'm there in the hallway? Do I have some kind of disease or something?

I continued walking with everyone remaining to become jerks. As I made my way towards the cafeteria, I see a handful of students hanging around everywhere. Not really a lot of people, but I guess it's a bit of a handful.

The smell was the same as usual. That smell of stream and umami from the dishes they have displayed in the cafeteria. I wonder what snack I should buy? I excitedly looked through the snacks they had on the pastry sections where all sweets and pastries were displayed.

Hm... I looked carefully at the colorful desserts. Should I buy strawberry tart or some carrot cake? I'm honestly, not sure... I do love strawberries, but I've never really liked tarts very much...

Suddenly as I turned around to grab my money, a man grabbed me by my arms, I jerked toward in reflex to avoid the person, and there he stood with a cheeky grin in his face. "What's up cutie." The tall blue-haired man said to me with confidence.

Uh... who.. are you?
