School Days (1)

The news of what happened at Maple-leaf academy quickly spread among all of the upper class families of B City. When it came to the scandal itself and the huge reveal of the truth, it wasn't all that uncommon among the upper class schools in the area as many of the students had deeply rooted reasons to dislike one another.

Typically, whenever a scholarship student would first begin attending one of the prestigious academies throughout the city, they would raise quite a fuss. At the normal schools in the area, such events were extremely uncommon and almost never happened, if they happened at all.

On the other hand, the schools like Maple-leaf academy and Darkoak academy were populated with students whose families were all wealthy and powerful. This lead to many situations occurring where one student would attempt to harm their families competitors by creating a scandal related to one of their children.

Usually, the school would simply get rid of the matter entirely and allow it to fade into the collectively forgotten piles of scandals. The difference of this scandal was threefold. It involved people from extremely powerful families and Maple-leaf academy.

Even more than that, it came with news that Aria Song had had another rumor started about her that was contained at the school. This shocked everyone who was looking in from the outside.

Although Maple-leaf academy did not claim to have perfect students and no school could hope to ensure there were no issues, they typically did not have any news of this level relating to them. When the last large piece of news relating to a student at Maple-leaf occurred, the entire student body was of different students.

Compared to the other academies, this was part of what set it apart as the top school. Nobody who could get their children into Maple-leaf wanted their children attending one of the other schools where rumors flew wild and reputations could be destroyed.

For example, Dark Oak academy typically had at least one large rumor originate from it's students every 3 months of a school year and some of them even lead to the collapse of large families and companies.

Moreover, the rumor involved the Suzuki family who had only moved to B City several weeks earlier. Even though it did not mean the elders of each family were on the same page, the fact that the Song Family's eldest daughter and the Suzuki family's only child were roommates and would likely develop a bond was major news for the businesses in the same field.

Despite other factors, the focus of the entire matter was Aria Song.

Previously, the rumor relating to her keeping sugar babies had been kept within the school as they were wiped away rather quickly and were considered minor news.

With the addition of the new rumor, even though it was proven false, it was exciting gossip to spread around for those with nothing better to do.

In addition, even though rumors relating to the upper class academies students were not rare, they had never before involved someone from the top families in not only B City, but in the entire country.

The biggest reveal though, was that the Song family's first daughter was attending school on scholarship. Even if other wealthy and powerful families children qualified for scholarships, they never attended on them because it was seen as a matter of pride.

Attending on scholarship was viewed the same as admitting that your family was not good enough to afford to attend at the academy and resulted in both the student and the family being looked down on.

So, the fact that Aria was attending on scholarship sent a massive wave of shock compared to the ripples caused by the rumors and the small waves from the involvement of Maple-leaf academy.

As everything was spinning around at the speed of light in the outside world, Aria was sitting in her dorm room and enjoying the feeling of having a friend.

Ever since she had been young, she had been unable to form strong friendships with other people because she felt like they were always aiming to use her to connect with her family. Sadly for them, she was unable to provide the link they often desired, but none of them knew that and they likely never would.

Now that she had a chance to be friends with someone who she wasn't nervous around and who had a family just as wealthy and powerful as hers, she was not planning on letting go.

She smiled to herself and glanced over at her new friend. As she glanced over, Aika happened to be glancing towards her as well and they smiled at each other before waving and laughing at the weird synchronization of their actions.
