1 Bad Luck (1)

If something happens once, it's just an accident, there's nothing wrong. We can only accept and move on. If it happens twice, we should suspect something is wrong; either your behavior or what surrounds you.

If there is a third time, however, there are high chances something wrong is happening.

The weird series of bad luck I was having is strange, no matter how much I thought about it. I sat on the ground to calm down and relax. I knew I didn't have much time until night, but I needed to calm down and think harder about the situation.

I looked around again to make sure there was nothing wrong, and when I touched my chin with my hand to think, I suddenly felt something wet falling on my head.

Slowly, I looked up and saw nothing. Taking another look around, I touched my head with my hand to see what dropped, and when I put my hand in my face, I saw a weird white liquid. Upon seeing this white liquid, I got completely muted, my mind in shock.

First, I wake up in a forest in the middle of nowhere with mosquitoes and insects biting me, then a branch falls on my head. When I try to lean on a tree, ants bite my hand and makes several injuries. Finally, I fall into a ravine and hit my back on a tree.

I thought that when I sat down in a safe place, I could calm down, relax, think about the situation, and what to do next in peace, but even that I can't do. I sat there, and a bird pooped on me.

I was silent for a long time and I looked around once again, this time with even more caution; I felt that I was surrounded by enemies in all directions.

After taking a deep breath, I calmed down and thought about what to do next. I had no time to lose, it was soon going to get dark soon, so I focused my thoughts.

First, I need to know where I am, and the best way to find this is from a high place. Then I looked at the trees around me and my body shook when I felt I shouldn't be doing this. What if I fall? I trust my physical skills, but if by just standing still I get poop on my head...

Suddenly, I heard strange sounds behind me and quickly got up. Behind me, a few feet away, was a snake slowly sliding towards me. I quickly stepped back, I got scared.

As I walked away, I observed the snake's behavior, and it looked peaceful, just sliding forward. Seeing that it kept coming towards me, I walked a few meters to the side, always looking at the snake, and saw that it didn't change direction and kept going forward.

When I took a few more steps, however, I felt a sharp pain in my legs and quickly walked forward and looked at the ground; there was a pointed tree branch facing up, I had stepped on it. I looked at my legs, I was wearing shorts, and saw that I had a small cut near my knee.

While I was distracted by these things, the snake kept sliding in the same direction. When I scared myself because of the thing that hurt my leg, however, It ended up alerting the snake, which entered a defensive position, moving its tongue back and forth.

I heard the snake, and I got scared again. Looking at it, I saw that the snake was only two meters away, so I quickly walked backward, taking care to not step in the branch from before. After getting far enough away, the snake calmed down and went on its way.

Finally, I managed to relax. It was the first time I had seen a snake, then it was shocking for me. Looking at the place I was in, and feeling it was safe, I sat down, but rain suddenly started to fall from the sky, completely wetting me.

I stood still, looking at the sky through the treetops, silently trying to understand what was going on. This is very abnormal.

Minutes passed by, and it felt like my bad luck was finally relaxing. Standing still seemed to have an effect, but because of that, the rain was completely wetting me. I thought about trying to hide under one of the trees, but I was afraid of what might happen.

I wouldn't trade this temporary security for anything in the world.

Fortunately, it looked like it was just a rain shower. To begin with, there were few clouds in the sky, it didn't make any sense to start raining suddenly, even more, a rain that would leave me soaked.

After the rain stopped, I looked around in silence and realized that I was standing by a small hill.

When I looked at the top of the hill, I saw some big rocks, and my heart started pounding.

I ran a few feet away, and a few seconds later, I heard something hitting hard on the ground.

"What the hell is going on..."

I looked in the direction I was standing and saw that the stone at the top of the hill had fallen exactly where I was standing just moments before.

"Good thing I noticed before..."

At that time, when I looked at the top of the hill, I saw that the stone was half loose on top of a lot of clay. The rain must have wet the ground and caused a slide. Fortunately, I realized it early enough.

"Is there no safe place around here?"

I muttered under my breath, completely confused by the circumstances. Things were happening too fast, I couldn't react most of the time. If I hadn't been careful, I could have died being crushed by that stone, this truth left me deeply shaken.

I was so shaken, I couldn't think for a while. Instinctively, I looked around, but I wasn't paying much attention to my surroundings. Fortunately, this period of confusion didn't last long, and I finally calmed down enough to realize I was safe.

Taking a deep breath, I observed the surroundings, and stood still, thinking. I looked at my leg, where I had hurt myself before with the tree branch, and realized there were several other cuts. They were all fine cuts, looking like razor cuts. I knew what that was; they were cuts made by the bush on the ground, cutting leaves.

Unfortunately, I wasn't wearing long pants and my legs were suffering from it.

At that moment, I heard a sound, and my face sank; I was hungry. Putting my hand on my belly, I looked around. I was in the middle of a forest, maybe I could find something to eat.

It had been a while since I saw some berries hanging from small trees nearby, but they were green, they didn't look edible. I also knew that with my luck as it was, I shouldn't risk eating unknown green berries in an unknown forest. What if it was poisonous?

Sighing, I knew I couldn't stand still, so I started walking, looking around, paying attention to everything around me. A few seconds later, I tripped and fell to the ground. I looked back and saw that I had stumbled over a tree root.

Paying attention around me made me pay less attention to where I was walking.

"What the hell is going on?!"

Feeling upset, I got up from the ground and kept walking, this time paying more attention to where I am stepping. After walking for a few minutes, I felt my mouth dry and looked around.

By now, it was almost dark. Remembering a few minutes ago when it rained, and how I didn't take the opportunity to drink the rainwater, I sighed.

People can survive days without eating, as long as they don't exercise much, but water was essential, whether you exercise or not. As long as I had water, I could bear more time.

Standing still, I kept looking around, looking for some puddle of water made by the rain. The water wouldn't be clean, but it was better than nothing. Seeing no puddle of water nearby, I kept walking, encountering minor problems along the way.

Sometimes I ran into snakes or stumbled on the ground, some birds flew near my head passing through the trees, mosquitoes bit me...

I started to notice a pattern, so I became knowledgeable about what to watch out for. First, don't walk too close to the trees, walk slowly, pay close attention to the ground, but also the surroundings.

Unfortunately, I didn't find any puddles of water, and when I noticed it, it was almost completely dark. I looked at the sky, and when I saw the blue moon in the sky, my heart shook.

It wasn't the rare blue moon event that I knew that a second full moon happens in a month every two years. It was literally a blue moon. More importantly, it looked so big in the sky that it's almost as if it were within my reach.

I raised my hand to the sky when this idea crossed my mind, and I realized that the moon in the sky was much bigger than my hand.

I have never seen such a big moon, and I have certainly never seen a blue moon. This was so bizarre that I didn't know how to react, I just stared in silence at the beautiful moon in the sky, my heart confused and at the same time amazed.

A wonderful feeling popped up in my heart as I admired the moon in the sky. Before, I never felt that the moon was beautiful, but that blue moon in the sky made me have a strange feeling.

It was an unspeakable feeling, but one I had felt before. It was the same feeling as when I came home after school and saw my mother.

I feel... at home.

When that notion hit me, I shivered, confused by my reaction, and my feelings. How could I feel at home in the middle of a forest in the middle of nowhere? It was so confusing that I kept silent watching the blue moon thinking about that feeling.

After a few minutes, I shook my head and realized that I was lying on the ground. Surprised, I quickly got up. When did I lie on the ground?

After taking a confused look around, I took one last look at the moon and finally started walking again. Thanks to the size of the moon, and the intensity of the light, I was able to see enough to be able to guide myself through the forest.

A few minutes more and several small problems later, I saw a blue light, and my heart sighed happily. Is it a house? A lighted road? The city?

Still being careful on my way, I walked towards the light, and when I passed through a dense thicket, I saw what that was: a lake refracting the moonlight. When I saw this, my heart sank, but I managed to calm down when I realized at least my water problem was over.

I approached and saw that the water looked clean from what I could see by the moonlight. I got closer slowly, being cautious of my surroundings, but when I got close enough, I hit something.

I didn't get hurt as I was walking slowly for fear of something happening, but I was surprised. I looked ahead, but I couldn't see what I had hit. Was it because it was dark? I raised my hand and reach out forward without knowing where to touch.

Finally, I felt a smooth surface in front of me. It looked flat and hard, but I couldn't see what it was, it looked like a transparent wall. Was it glass?

I approached my face and looked closely. Because of the moonlight, I was able to see relatively well, and yet, I saw nothing, it looked like an invisible wall. I touched every side of it with my hands, and then up and down, and I realized that this invisible wall stretched out on all sides.

It was on the ground too, so I couldn't crawl underneath. I tried to jump to know the upper limits, but as far as I could reach, the invisible wall blocked the path, I couldn't jump over it.

I started walking sideways, exploring the limits of this invisible wall, and a few steps later, I stumbled again. Seeing the stone on the ground I stumbled on, I complained a little to myself about being careless at this stage of the game and got up. Paying attention also to the ground, I kept following the invisible wall.

I walked a lot, and I had several small problems along the way. Finally, when I realized that I had reached the other side of the lake, I gave up and realized that this invisible wall was surrounding the entire lake. I still didn't know the limits up, but I would bet it covered even the top of the lake, like a kind of glass dome.

Although I thought of it as a glass wall, I didn't feel the coldness of the glass, that wall was neither cold nor hot. Looking around, I picked up a stone on the ground, walked a few feet away, and threw it toward the wall.

The stone hit the invisible wall and bounced off. While I was thinking about the hardness of the wall after receiving a stone thrown with all my strength and remaining intact, the stone came back towards me and hit my shin.

It hurt a lot.

I knelt quickly to observe where the stone hit, and when I saw my leg full of bruises, I smiled bitterly and I realized that if it weren't for the severe pain of the blow, I wouldn't know which of the bruises on my leg was done by the stone.

Currently, my legs were full of cuts from the brush, bruises from the fall, mosquito and insect bites. Now, there was a small wound where blood was coming out. I ran my hand over the spot, to try to ease the pain, and wiped the blood off, to see how injured it was.

When I saw that the injury wasn't a big thing, I sighed and stood up. Approaching the invisible wall, I sat and leaned against it.

I looked at the water in the lake behind me, and then at the moon in the sky, and sighed.

"I can't even drink water... It's right in front of me, but I can't touch it."

A few seconds later, however, I felt the wall behind me mysteriously swallow me, and my body fell backward. Surprised, I got up quickly, and before I could get to my feet, I received a strong jet of water in my chest that knocked me back a few feet away.

Falling to the ground, I felt pain in my waist, and I rolled a few meters. When I finally stopped rolling, I tried to get up, but I started coughing hard, the pain in my chest was huge.

Sitting on the ground, I put my hand on my chest, then massaged my waist, and sighed.

"I really don't have any luck."
