"Still! Can you believe the akuma happened right in our school? I got to film everything!"
"Alya, I don't know how much longer I can bear your talk about akuma villains. You've been talking about them since Stoneheart. They should be normal by now! But every time there is one, you act like humans have found aliens on mars!" I complained.
"Like I love you and all, but I am not sacrificing my hearing for this friendship."
Marinette giggled when she saw Alya give a small pout. "Alya, what she means is that less talking and more planning for the unveiling ceremony."
The student of Françoise Dupont High School were instructed to plan the unveiling of a statue of Ladybug and Chat Noir that was craved by one of the school's students, Theo, I think. The show never stated that he went to the same school as the main characters, so I was surprised the first time I saw him here.
"Okay...But-!"
"Yes, I know. Congrats on your first one million views, Alya."
********
The statue unveiling is today, and even the mayor has attended. Probably forced- I mean convinced by his angelic daughter, Chloe.
I heard she was trying to impress everyone and get someone to be her new slave- I mean best friend after Sabrina left her. Gosh, I keep stumbling up my words today.
Anyways, I was standing next to Alya, waiting for the reveal. My friend, as always, had her phone out to film everything for her Ladyblog.
On my other side was the one and only Chat Noir, making pick-up lines at me every so often.
Now the only hero that hasn't arrived is Ladybug. Marinette had already left over ten, minutes ago, so where is she?
Theo, the sculptor of the statue, was pacing around it worriedly. I would too of I put my blood, sweat and tears into something for someone just for that certain someone not to come and see it.
"Perhaps the ceremony should commence, it might bring Ladybug here faster," suggested the impatient mayor. Like father like daughter.
"Please, just one minute more, Mayor Bourgeois. She's going to come, I can feel it."
"Fine, one minute. Let's hope your feeling is correct."
Hurry up, Ladybug.
********
"Unveil the sculpture!"
One minute was given and it's up now. Poor Theo. I'm going to have a talk with Marinette once I see her.
While the crowd cheered for Theo and his amazing sculpture, Chat Noir had a small complaint.
"This statue is amazing! One thing is slightly off though, I'm actually way taller than Ladybug," he said.
Theo didn't hear him. "Ladybug didn't show up...I failed my goal, I wanted to show my gratitude towards her for saving Paris..."
"Wow," I said. "That's deep. You have a crush on her or something?"
Theo's head turned into a strawberry "What? Of course not!"
"Yeah, sure. But regardless, even if Ladybug didn't come, I'm sure she'll see your sculptor and be impressed," I said, attempting to comfort him. "I mean you even got Chat Noir's annoying face on point!"
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean, Silver?"
"Silver? Isn't your name Yin?" Asked Theo.
"You know my name?"
"Yeah, I've seen you on the news before. You're almost always in akuma fights and you help Ladybug and Chat Noir defeat the villains, right?"
I blushed. Well, I think I blushed, because there was that weird feeling again.
"I guess...?"
"Girl, we have got to work on your self-esteem!" Said Alya, putting her arm around my shoulder.
"Yeah! You're amazing, Sliver! You'd make a great superhero!" Added Chat Noir.
If I wasn't blushing just now, I definitely was now.
"I just help out sometimes...Chat and Ladybug are the ones who actually save the city."
"Maybe I should make a statue of you sometimes, helper," laughed Theo. Hey, he's laughing! I'm good at this!
"Glad to see you're in good spirits again!"
Theo gave a sad smile. "I gues. Still wish Ladybug would show up."
"Hey, buddy," said Chat leaning on his shoulder. "Ladybug's a busy girl. Us superheroes can only be close to other superheroes. Maybe you shouldn't get your hopes up."
Chat. What. The. Hell. Are. You. Doing.
Theo excused himself, stomping off.
"What was that?" I asked, poking Chat accusingly.
"I was trying to comfort him?"
I stared at Chat for a few seconds. "What."
"Um...do I need to improve?"
********
"-which is why it's my favorite painting!"
I politely clapped my hands for Nathaniel. I call him Nath now. He and I are in the Louvre Museum. I was helping him with an art project of his.
"Did I do well?"
"I wouldn't have clapped if you didn't!"
Nath sighed. "Thanks, Yin."
Suddenly, there was a bunch of commotion behind us.
"Hey, is that Chat Noir?"
"Whoa, it's really him!"
I turned around, it really was Chat! Wait...No, that's copycat!
"Don't mind me!" He said, crossing over a barrier put in front of a painting. "Just stealing this painting!"
"Hey, you! Stop right there!" I called out.
Murmurs passed through the crowd. Probably asking who this weird girl being disrespectful to Paris's hero is.
"Why Sliver, can't even call me by my name?" Said Copycat, making the murmurs of the crowd even louder.
"Don't call me that, you fraud!" The crowd gasps. "I know you're not Chat! You're Theo, aren't you? You've been akumatised!"
"Sliver, accusing me of being a criminal?" He asked, acting innocent. God, I want to slap him!
"Are you deaf? Besides, by stealing that painting in broad daylight you've made yourself known as a criminal all on your own! And sure, Chat Noir's a dork, but he's not an idiot."
"Fine, you've caught me, but so have I," he lifted me and tossed me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. "Now let's see if you, Chat Noir, can catch me!"
"Hey, let Yin go!" Cried Nath. Thank bud, but I don't think that's going to do anything.
He ran out of the museum with the painting he stole and me on his shoulder. I'm so mad.
********
"Why are you doing this?" I demanded as Theo chained me up.
"That stupid alley cat thinks he's so great just vecause his a superhero. Well I'll show him and Ladybug that he isn't all that!"
"What does that have to do with me?"
Theo raised an eyebrow at me. "It's abivious that dirty feline adores you. Kidnapping you infront of so many cameras is sure to lure him here!"
Just as Copycat finished his sentence, the real Chat Noir and Ladybug burst in the studio Theo was keeping me in.
"Release her you copycat!"
The two cats went in to a cat fight.
"Stop! Which one of you is the real Chat?" Asked Ladybug.
"I am!" Both cats said at once.
"Stop that! No you stop that!"
"Both of you, stop!" I shouted.
I took a good look at both of them. "Dang, praise Hawkmoth for me will ya, Copycat? He copied Chat's face well."
Neither of them moved.
"Well, it was worth the try. But just so you know, I mean it. Anyways, what are your thoughts on camembert?"
"I love it!" Said one Chat.
"That's Copycat!" I pointed to the one that spoke.
"Are you sure?" Asked Ladybug.
"Very."
"Okay..."
For the rest of the fight, I just dropped in once in a while to tell Ladybug who the real Chat is.
Almost ten minutes later, Theo's akuma was captured and all was well.
Ladybug apologized for not attending the statue unveiling. I'm getting more details on that later.
Meanwhile Chat and I had a little moment.
"Please promise me you'll try not to get involved with akumas anymore? It's too dangerous!"
"I try, can't promise though!" I gave him a peck on the cheek.
I quickly turned away and headed home, hoping I was smooth. I would hang around to see if Chat's face became red but I couldn't risk him seeing my face which was definitely beet red.
