She Obviously Did Not Like Him

Did Zhan Yunge leave the room? How could Nangong Xuan not have known? He was briefly worried before he quickly calmed down.

He channeled the energy from his throat, heart, and navel to detect where she was. Out of the seven chakras, the throat, heart, and navel energy fields were related to movement. The higher the cultivation base, the further his detection could go.

Nangong Xuan channeled his energy straight at the ice orchid tree. Sure enough, he could detect her there. He instantly felt relieved. What was she doing at the ice orchid tree? When did she go?

He sat on the couch looking at the mountain top. From this position, he could get a clear view of the massive ice orchid tree along with its luxuriant crown.

Zhan Yunshu did not see his sister after he entered the compound. He thought she might be in the bedroom, but the moment he entered, all he saw was Nangong Xuan sitting on the couch wearing his inner robe. Even though Zhan Yunshu had seen this countless times, he could not help raising an eyebrow in displeasure.

"Where is Yunge?" He could already see that his little sister was not in her room.

"She is at the ice orchid tree." Nangong Xuan got up from the couch and put on his beige robes elegantly.

"She already spent the entire afternoon at the ice orchid tree yesterday and today, she went over first thing in the morning. Sounds to me like she doesn't enjoy your presence," said Zhan Yunshu in disdain.

Nangong Xuan's motions paused briefly while he was dressing. Then, he continued dressing, pulled his long dark hair from under his robes, and headed out.

As he walked, he asked, "Why do you say that?"

Zhan Yunshu followed behind him. "Isn't it obvious? Anyone with eyes can tell."

Wan Yu had already prepared some water so that Nangong Xuan could wash up. He said to Wan Yu, "Send breakfast to the ice orchid tree."

"Yes, Your Highness." Wan Yu left the room with the basin of water.

"What do you mean by obvious? Has Yunge ever put up with anything against her will?" Nangong Xuan gave way to Zhan Yunshu politely before leaving the room.

"My sister has never put up with anything all her life." Zhan Yunge instantly caught Nangong Xuan's drift. Nangong Xuan was implying that Zhan Yunge would have ignored him completely if she genuinely did not like him.

Everyone in the Zhan family felt puzzled. All these years, Zhan Yunge had given Nangong Xuan a lukewarm attitude. Based on her personality, if she did not like Nangong Xuan, she would never have allowed him to stay in her compound. However, she did not seem like she was in love with Nangong Xuan.

Was everyone wrong about them?

Nangong Xuan stopped talking and Zhan Yunshu also stopped teasing him. The two of them left the compound one after another and headed up the mountain side by side.

When they got to the mountaintop, they did not see anyone lying on the tree roots even though it was her usual spot. The two of them looked up the tree in unison.

Nangong Xuan jumped gently and got onto the two-meter high roots of the tree effortlessly. He walked over to the tree and raised his head to look up. He could see Zhan Yunge lying on the flowers languidly with her eyes closed, seeming as though she was sleeping. Her black robes looked particularly striking in the sea of blue flowers.

Nangong Xuan raised his head and looked at Zhan Yunge while Zhan Yunshu looked at Nangong Xuan. Zhan Yunshu felt puzzled when Nangong Xuan had no intention of leaving. Was Nangong Xuan able to smell the scent without any side effects?

Wan Yu had reached the top of the mountain with the maids. They had arrived with the food along with a table and chairs. She saw Nangong Xuan looking at the tree and asked softly, "Your Highness, where should we set the table?"

Nangong Xuan veered his eyes away from Zhan Yunge and pointed to a place near the roots of the ice orchid tree. Wan Yu promptly told the maids to set up the table and chairs and placed the food on the table.

Wan Yu had only prepared two chairs and two sets of cutlery. She knew Zhan Yunshu could only spend less than 15 minutes near the ice orchid tree before suffering from any side effects.

Nangong Xuan shouted, "Yunge, come on down to eat."

Zhan Yunge opened her eyes and looked down the tree. She could see Nangong Xuan looking at her with his beautiful eyes, but she did not dare to look at him closely. She was worried she might fall in love with him.

She sat up and jumped down the ice orchid tree nimbly. Nangong Xuan reached out his hand to carry her. "How did you know I was able to catch you?"

Zhan Yunge was caught by surprise. When she noticed Zhan Yunshu standing nearby, she realized Nangong Xuan was helping her cover up the fact that she had awakened her souls and chakras. She recalled what her mother said about keeping a low profile, even if she could cultivate, so she decided to keep it from her older brother for now.

She climbed out of his arms calmly. "Hi, Big Bro."

"Why did you come here so early in the morning?" Zhan Yunshu was always very gentle towards his little sister.

"I came because I missed the smell of ice orchids." Zhan Yunge glanced at the table full of food. She jumped off the ice orchid tree root without using any spirit energy.

Nangong Xuan jumped down the tree behind her and the two of them sat down at the table. Zhan Yunshu rubbed his nose. The scent of the ice orchids was starting to feel unbearable, so he said, "I have already passed my gift to Wan Yu. You can take a look at it when you get back to your compound."

"Okay. Thanks." Zhan Yunge instantly smiled brightly at her older brother.

Zhan Yunshu smiled. "Go on and eat your breakfast. The wind is strong here, so you don't want your food to get cold."

"Uh huh." Zhan Yunge picked up her chopsticks and started eating breakfast.

Zhan Yunshu looked at Nangong Xuan as he picked up food for Zhan Yunge. He was certain of it now. Nangong Xuan was unafraid of the ice orchid scent.

Zhan Yunshu turned to go down the mountain slowly. He could not help feeling even more puzzled. He was a descendant of the Zhan family, but even he was unable to stand the smell of the ice orchids. It was fine if his little sister was able to stand in close proximity to the tree. After all, she was the only girl in the family for a millennium. He could still understand it if she was the one who had the ability to stand close to it but he simply did not understand why Nangong Xuan could do the same.

"Big Bro," said Zhan Yunge suddenly.

"Yes?" Zhan Yunshu halted in his steps and turned to look at her.

"I like the fabric and color of your robes." The color of his outfit was the same as the color of the ice orchids.

Zhan Yunshu glanced at his robes and instantly smiled. "I can't believe you want to wear something other than black. I will get people to make you more robes in the same color. I will make sure they work quickly so that you can bring them to the capital."

"You are the best." Zhan Yunge beamed even more brightly.

Zhan Yunshu smiled indulgently before turning to go down the mountain.

Nangong Xuan said nothing. When she said she liked Zhan Yunshu's blue robes, he felt puzzled.

Zhan Yunge had genuinely worked up an appetite, so she ate breakfast quickly. Nangong Xuan ate slowly as usual without asking her any questions just yet.

After she had put down her chopsticks, Nangong Xuan finally asked, "What time did you get here?"

"Before it was daybreak." Zhan Yunge smiled with her eyes looking bright. She was clearly in a good mood.

"Why?"

"I just wanted to." Zhan Yunge blinked her eyes.

A sea of ice orchid trees had appeared in her life soul and looked simply grand, but she did not want to tell him about it.

After she had activated her souls and chakras last night, she started cultivating immediately. Before it was daybreak, she saw the spirit in her life soul suddenly fly up and ice orchid trees appeared behind it. They looked just like the ice orchid tree on Mount Qingnan, except there were so many ice orchid trees that she lost count. She thought she was hallucinating at first. She had never encountered such a thing in all her lifetimes.

Zhan Yunge stopped cultivating. She confirmed she was not dreaming and she had genuinely activated her souls and chakras. She went to check on her life soul and noticed the sea of ice orchids was still there. It was not a hallucination but what was it doing there?

She suddenly wanted to go to the ice orchid tree very badly. The moment the thought passed her mind, she suddenly appeared standing in front of the ice orchid tree on Mount Qingnan.

Since the sky was still dark, she was unable to see clearly. She had grown up with the ice orchid tree and slept on it all the time. Even with her eyes closed, she knew exactly where she was.

What was going on? Why did she suddenly end up here after having a fleeting thought about coming over?

Zhan Yunge was unable to wrap her mind around it. She wondered if she had acquired an unknown special skill after she had activated her souls and chakras. Perhaps she was able to teleport at will.
