Some would think that death was a sweet release, finally being able to escape the pain and torment of life. But for me, it was the mistake that brought an even greater misery.
Hiding only a dozen feet away, I sat amid the horripilation, watching as a man killed his companion over the last few scraps of food. This new world had forced society to the very edges of their humanity. Acting as the driving force that caused them to become evil and violent, all for the sake of survival.
Life had evolved to become the very monsters we were told hid under our beds as children. In every dark corner was an evil more terrible than the last. The greatest of them was the very thing that hunted me, trying to correct its mistake.
