Gender

In an omegaverse, on top of male, female, intersex, etc. humans are also assigned a secondary gender. Thankfully, gender dysphoria has not been observed in regard to secondary genders Even if there were, there is no way to truly transition from one secondary gender to another. But transitioning from your birth-assigned primary gender does not effect your secondary gender.

The three secondary genders are alpha, beta, and omega. These are further divided into dominant, submissive, and neutral. The guide will go into more detail about each secondary gender later, but in a broad sense, the more dominant a secondary gender, the closer it is to true alpha, and the more submissive, the closer it is to true omega.

Alphas as a whole take up about 18.3% of the population. Omegas take up 11.7%, and betas take up the majority of the population with 70%. Theoretically. In actuality it would be slightly different, just as primary genders aren't always 50/50. The genes responsible for secondary genders are more complicated than the genes responsible for primary genders. Like genes such as height or skin tone, many different genes combine into a sort of scale with true alpha at one end and true omega at the other with most people falling somewhere in-between. Any sub-class can have small amounts of each gene. The combination of what the parents pass down determines the secondary gender of the child. It is far more likely for a parent to pass down genes from the gender they present as than the one that determines their sub-class or isn't presented at all.

I'm not going to go into the details of the math behind it, because it took an embarrassingly long amount of time to work it out myself, but if you're interested enough to know, I'll make another auxiliary chapter to explain if I get enough comments requesting it.

Within society, many people discriminate based on secondary gender. Technically speaking, it is against the law to do so in work and school, but often, that doesn't stop people from doing it anyway.
