3 Chapter 3: Home

After a couple more days, I finally went home. I didn't watch TV, eat, drink, or do anything. No one did. We tried to have fun, but nothing was funny. It was like we lost our sense of humor. I just sat in my room all day, not moving at all. My dad walked around in these purple slipper socks all day every day. My mom is pretty quiet too. No one talks to each other. We don't even look at each other. Millie's door was still open, no one dared close it. You could see everything in her room from the hallway. I remember walking past her room and just glancing in, but, I didn't see anything. None of her stuff was in there, just her bed, dresser, tv, all of the heavy furniture was still there. Her awards that she won wasn't there, her posters were gone, her clothes. Everything was gone. Even her camera that she got not long ago was gone, her teddy bear was gone. I raced out of her room.

"MOM?! MOM?!" I called for my mom, knowing she must've had something to do with this. I paused outside of the kitchen. My mom and dad were sitting at the kitchen table with a construction worker. I listened in on their conversation. They were talking about covering up Millie's room, making it just look like a wall. I didn't like this, covering up her room. I looked out the window, there was her stuff, in boxes, outside in front of our house. I snuck out the front door and one by one picked up Millie's boxes and put them in my room. Once I was finished, I closed my bedroom door and looked through all her stuff. Her camera, her phone, her awards, and... Her teddy bear. I picked up the teddy bear. It wasn't a small teddy bear either. I walked over to my bed and layed on it, hugging the teddy tight. It smelled like flowers, roses, probably. For the first time in a long time, I fell asleep.
