7 Knight protects the Queen

The boy then realized that he fell into her trap and widened his eyes. "That.. That.." he stuttered but nothing came out of his mouth.

Looking at his dumbfounded expression, Shao Rong chuckled and ruffled his head. Who can resist such cuteness? He looked in tears but tried his best to control himself.

He was bullied.

That is the only thought running in his little head.

"It's Okay. I forgive you," Shao Rong spoke with a smile.

'Who asked for her forgiveness?' the boy pouted.

"It is your fault that you took a long time to change your hand gesture. You should say sorry, not forgive me. Hmph," the boy pouted harder while his cheeks bulged showing a tint of red on his cheeks.

Looking at his adorable face, Shao Rong decided to finally give in and sat down on her knees, "Okay, sorry. I am sorry. Is that fine?' She smiled brightly at the kid.

Looking at the bright smile, the little kid blushed hard and to cover his flushed face, he turned his head away from her.

"Yeah. Good," he spoke softly still without showing his face.

"Please allow me to join your team, boss" she asked the boy with a smile.

She did not ask his name and instead used the word Boss to address him which she thought suited him.

He turned to look at her and her beautiful face along with her bright smile made his little heart flutter. He did not know the meaning of the flutter but he was excited.

A new feeling just embraced him which made him feel like he took a step forwrd towards his adulthood.

A meek voice could be heard from him, "O..Okay."

The boy even forgot the issue that she is not a kid, which was what the fight began with. The other kids never minded her to play with them to begin with. They just followed their captain when protesting and that is that.

Once their captain allowed her, all their restrictions against Shao Rong were broken and everyone continued playing with the sand.

Shao Rong sat next to the captain and started chatting while helping him, "What are you building?"

"A castle."

"For whom?"

"For my Queen."

"Oh, so you are her King?" Shao Rong raised an eyebrow in amusement.

"No. I am her Knight."

Shao Rong was stunned for a second before speaking, "Why are you not the King?"

"Because a King has many concubines, but a knight protects his only Queen," the kid spoke, patting his chest to show that he was proud to be a knight.

The expression on his face and the words he spoke were on a different level for his age which stunned Shao Rong.

'Are you sure you are a five year old kid?'

She couldn't dare ask the question, for she doesn't want to hurt his pride regarding his age.

You should never ask about their age from women and prideful kids. Women don't want people to treat them older while the prideful kids don't want people to treat them younger.

From the interaction she just had with him, she is clear that he is too prideful to call himself a younger kid.

He is definitely a kid that doesn't show his cute side to gain what he needs, instead he is the type who negotiates to get them. He is too mature for his age.

Shao Rong chuckled to herself and ruffled his hair for which he blushed profusely.

After a while, she went to a nearby stall to buy a ball and started playing catch ball with all the kids who stood in a circle.

The sounds of laughing and giggling and shouting of little kids filled the area. The harmonious view made everyone's heart peaceful and relaxing.

While playing, the ball suddenly missed their created ring and went forward and hit someone's head. Shao Rong left to fetch the ball from the stranger.

The two men seem to be discussing something when the ball hit the back of the head of one of them. He was too engrossed in his conversation to notice his surroundings, that he caught the ball and searched the area to the source with a glare.

As Shao Rong approached him, she caught his glare which displayed danger. It's not his anger but his aura that shouted danger. He is clearly from a different background.

"I'm sorry about the ball. Can I get it back?" Shao Rong softened her voice to speak to the man.

"The fuck I'd give you back. Can a sorry clear everything?" He glared at her and looked at her from top to bottom and showed a disdain, "You girls just think that being cute is all it takes to handle a man. You make me sick."

"Then just get sick and give me my ball back," she retorted. She is never the one to take the words lying down.

Her words enraged him even further and he took a step forward to grab her neck but something soft caught his legs to move.

He looked down to see a bunch of kids glaring back at him.

He blinked his eyes to check the image in front of his eyes. From where did a bunch of monkeys attack the beach?

The kids slowly pushed Shao Rong to the back and stood in front of her creating a mini wall between her and the man.

The leader-boy spread his hands to block the man from entering their 'zone'.

He glared viciously at the man and spoke dangerously, "Didn't she say Sorry to you? How can a man like you bully a girl like her?"

Shao Rong blinked twice. Aren't these the words she spoke earlier to him?

Her heart warmed up and smiled at the little boy's back. She suddenly felt like a queen protected by the knight who is leading an army to shield her.

It is not just Shao Rong who has that thought. All the people who witnessed the scene had the same running in their heads.

'Looks like he is not all bark and no bite.'
