New Identity, New Life.

Mystic Falls, 10th Century A.D.

In these times before any industrialization, and even before the discovery of the word, "modern", man struggled to survive against nature.

In the land that would later be known as America, many lived as savage vagabonds. The small groups were always on the move, while bigger ones set up small encampments while preparing to invade others.

Permanent settlements like the one in Mystic Falls were very rare.

In this village, the houses and huts were built using the wood from the trees of the surrounding forest, and people's main source of sustenance was livestock, and the hunting.

The moon was nearly out of sight and the sun was about to rise.

In one of the roughly built wooden houses of this village, three children slept peacefully in a room. Two boys and a girl.

Suddenly, "AAH.! HAH.! huh.! huh.! huh.!", one of the boys woke up with a start and sat up straight.

He started huffing and taking deep rough breaths while sweating heavily. It seemed like he had just woken up from a really bad dream.

This was Raylan. Just now, his soul entered this body and assimilated this boy's soul.

After taking a few deep breaths and calming down, Raylan looked around and observed his current situation.

Raylan realised that the boy must had been sleeping in his room when he took over. And looking at the two other children who were still asleep beside him, they appeared to be his siblings.

Raylan then looked around the room. It reminded him of a roughly built wooden cabin. The room was small, and separated from the other rooms by beast-skin that was hung on the doorway, instead of a proper door.

Raylan stood up and looked around. He observed everything carefully. It seemed like he had reincarnated before the middle ages. It would make his life slightly more difficult, but it had its advantages too.

Just as Raylan opened the beast-skin curtain and was about to go out, he felt a sudden headache coming on and immediately lost his sense of balance. Then fell down on the floor, unconscious.

It didn't take long for Raylan to wake up, just a few minutes and his eyes were open. But in fact, for Raylan, hours had already passed.

He slowly stood up as he thought, "So the original family huh.! I'm in a world where the TV shows, 'The Vampire Diaries', 'The Originals', and 'The Legacies', are real.!".

Just now, Raylan had received the memories of the original owner of this body.

"I remember watching these shows with Liz and Sher. We loved them.! But to think that I would one day be living inside such fantasies.!?", Raylan then closed his eyes and relished in the memories of the past.

After a while, he opened his eyes and spoke, "There's so much I still don't know.! So much left to discover. There are infinite wonders in uncountable faces of reality. I wish to see more.".

Then he remembered his experience in Hell. The sheer weakest and utter helplessness he felt at that moment.

Standing before those beasts and demons, he felt like a speck of dust before the neverending sandstorm. The pressure he felt by their presence alone was constantly forcing him to his knees.

At that moment, he felt like he didn't matter, like his existence had no significance.

Raylan subconsciously clenched his fists. He vowed never to be weak again, and spoke, "I will use all the resources I can, to be the strongest I can be, and then I'll surpass that limit.".

Then he turned his gaze to Niklaus and Rebekah, the two still sleeping children.

"However, I will make sure to enjoy my life to the fullest. There's no point in living forever if I don't even know how to truly appreciate the beauty of life.", he continued with a relaxed smile.

With the gifts that he asked for, Raylan could become the strongest existence in any world. In fact Odin's knowledge alone could help him achieve that. That one wish made him self sufficient.

Odin had created his own personal runes, he was a genius in all fields of magic, he knew the formula from 'The Tablet of Life and Time', and he had witnessed the creation of several godly artifacts.

Asgard was a place where technology and magic were the same thing, so having Odin's knowledge was akin to having the knowledge of an entire civilization.

With these gifts, Raylan didn't have to live his life on the edge or become unreasonably paranoid about every little thing. All the tricks and plans of his enemies against him would become meaningless in front of his absolute power.

Raylan had countless thoughts going through his head as he went out of the house. He needed some fresh air.

Then he heard a repeating sound, "Haah.!", "Haah.!", "Haah.!", "Haah.!". A middle aged man with long blonde hairs was repeatedly swinging his sword in the air.

As Raylan came out, the man turned his head around and seemed slightly surprised to see him there, but quickly adjusted and spoke, "Boy, grab a wooden stick and warm up.! We're going on a hunting trip soon.", then he continued his morning workout.

Raylan was slightly surprised. He was distracted from his thoughts. But a distraction was what he needed, so he did as the man asked. Some workout wouldn't hurt. He needed to adjust to his new body.

Raylan knew this man from the TV show. He was Mikael, the father of Kol Mikaelson, original owner of his new body.

Mikael was an orthodox viking. He was a prideful man who worked hard to feed his family. At the same time, he hoped for his children to be more responsible, and wished to mold them in his image.

This part of him only intensified after he thought that he had lost his firstborn, Freya, to the plague.

Raylan was not nearly as strict as Mikael was to his children, but he could relate. He knew that if he decided to stay back with the Original Family, then the two of them would get along well.

After some workout, Raylan and Mikael got ready to go hunting.

Just as they were heading out, a middle aged blonde woman came out of the house carrying a basket, and walked towards Mikael while simultaneously glancing at Raylan.

She handed it to Mikael, and asked, "Mikael.! What is Kol doing here.?".

Mikael replied to her, "Wife.! Kol is going hunting with me. Go prepare, and wake up our irresponsible children.".

This woman was Esther, mother of Kol Mikaelson, the original owner of this new body of his.

Raylan's impression of Esther was not good. She appeared to be a selfish woman who could betray anyone for the sake of her own happiness and still shamelessly tell the person that she had done it for their own good.

But Raylan knew better than to judge people based on his knowledge from the TV show. He knew that he could only take his future knowledge as a reference at best.

Esther seemed confused at Mikael's reply, so she asked again, "Mikael.! Kol hasn't even had his tenth birthday yet. Are you sure he's ready for hunting.?".

"Yes.! He woke up early today and did some workout with me. He's starting to get responsible.", Mikael spoke and seemed slightly annoyed. He hated having to explain himself.

Esther then looked towards Raylan, but before she could ask anything, he interrupted, "Mother.! I wish to go out for hunting. I'm ready.", his tone was a little awkward while calling her 'mother', but no one noticed.

Esther seemed really surprised, but still replied, "Alright then. I'll go inside. You two be careful.".

She nodded at Mikael and walked back inside, but not before glancing at Raylan one last time with a look of pity in her eyes.

She probably thought that he was just being a boy who wanted to impress his father. So he was either going to loose his innocence today, or get punished by Mikael.

But she didn't know that 'Kol' she knew no longer existed, and Raylan never had any innocence to begin with.

Raylan was an orphan in his previous life. His only family were, Elizabeth and Sharon. He never had anyone to call, 'father, or 'mother'. So he was a little awkward around these people.

But the hunting trip went well nonetheless. Raylan even managed to nail a rabbit with an arrow, and put a deer out of its misery. Mikael seemed proud.

Anyway, after catching a deer and four rabbits, they went back home in the afternoon.

Esther prepared the meal in the kitchen while Rebekah helped.

After eating, Niklaus, Elijah, Henry and Rebekah went out to play, Finn went with Esther to study magic, and Mikael went out for something.

Raylan however, just stayed behind in his room that he shared with Niklaus and Rebekah.

He had things to think about, so he refused to go out, and they didn't mind either. They probably thought that he was punished by Mikael and needed some time alone. After all, the other children saw hunting as some traumatic experience.

In his room, Raylan was really wondering what he should do with his new life. Should he stay with the Original Family, or go his own way.?

Going away would be the most idiotic thing to do. Not only would he be leaving the comfort of a safe home to struggle to survive in the wilds, but if someone found him wandering alone, he would either be caught and killed, if lucky, or caught and sold, which was so much worse in this era.

Raylan wasn't naïve enough to believe that he would be able to survive outside on his own with the body of a ten year old. This world was filled with countless dangers. All kinds of magical creatures and evil witches roamed outside.

If he stayed, then survival wasn't an issue. He could learn hunting with Mikael, and had the right environment plus all the resources necessary to learn magic.

The problem was that he still thought of himself as 'Raylan', which he knew was wrong.

'Raylan Givens' was an orphan who moved around a lot from foster home to foster home as a kid, but he never lost focus of his goal and stayed diligent in his studies.

He went to a nice law-school on scholarship and started his career there, eventually meeting his wife during one of the cases. Got married, had a daughter, eventually retired, and died with a smile on his face.

Raylan knew that his life as 'Raylan Givens' was over, so still thinking of himself as 'Raylan' was an insult to the life he lived.

He needed to move on with his new life and accept his new identity. He needed to live this new life to the fullest. And he needed to stop living in the past and look ahead at the countless beautiful, exciting experiences that awaited him.

"From now on, I am no longer 'Raylan Givens', but 'Kol Mikaelson'. This is my new identity, and with it, the new life filled with endless adventures.", Raylan, no, now Kol, spoke with determination in his voice and excitement clearly visible in his eyes.

|[Author : From now on, I will be referring to him as 'Kol', instead of 'Raylan'.]|

To those people who think that MC's wishes are too overpowered for this world.-- You guys obviously haven't watched, 'The Legacies'.

Anyway, if he had asked for some stupid wishes, it would not only be out of character, but completely kill the mood. The same way nerfing him would.

So stop assuming things and just read the damn thing.

I'm a lazy person, so every word I write is meant to give important information, not to increase the word count. Don't just skip through most of the chapters.
