3 Late night breeze

"The older I get, the more that I see. My parents aren't heroes. They're just like me. And loving is hard, it don't always work. You just try your best not to get hurt." The faintest sound of 'older' played in my ears as it gradually got louder.

My eyes squinted open and a white ceiling is what I was welcomed to. I squinted my eyes at the brightness in the room. "If this is heaven get me a bus to hell." I groaned closing my eyes as I sat up. "Ah your awake!" Someone said. My eyes stayed closed. "And you're a stranger." I slowly opened my eyes as they got used to the light. I was in a hospital bed. I jumped as images flashed in my mind. "Hey do you still not feel good? Your pale." He states and I look at the origin of the voice. It was a blond boy with striking green eyes. I scoffed. "Let me guess your names Adrien?" I said as I looked down at my arms. Wires and needles wrapped around my arms and I bit my lip as I took them off.

"Uh yeah. How'd you know?" I grunted removing that damn hospital tape. "A lucky guess." I hopped off the bed and grabbed the clothes that was folded neatly on a table. I slip in my sweat pants and throw my hoodie over the hospital gown before taking off the gown.

"I don't think you should be doing that. You have to stay and get better." He follows me around the room as I grab my stuff. "Look man I just want to go home. Really, I really do. And I would never say that unless I meant it so please just leave me alone.- " Now young lady is that anyway to speak to a profesional model? I know I didn't raise you to be like that." A voice coming from the door of the hospital said. "Ah Mr. Manuel." Adrien said from behind me. My eyes furrowed as I looked at the wall in from of me quizzically.

I turned to see who it was and my mood got even worse. "Good afternoon Adrien."

I glared at my step dad. "Well that's cause you didn't raise me." I growled, stuffing my wallet back in my bag and glaring at him. "Where's mom." It had sounded more like a statement then a question but it still needed an answer. "She went to work of course. It's a Tuesday." He said. I raised an eyebrow. "But we're in Paris. Not the states anymore." I was dumbfounded. "Yeah of course were in Paris. Are you sure you're ok, Y/n?" His eyebrows furrowed and so did mine.

"Umm yeah I just need to get home. Now. Did you eat? I'll make food. Then check my homework. Then I'll take a shower and maybe play outside...Yeah that's what I'll do." I mumbled to myself walking away from the hospital room and going all the way down stairs leaving the building. I sat on a bench right outside of the hospital.

I cris-crossed my legs and stared at the concrete floor. Mom works in Paris. I was stuck in a room. Got out through a window. A woman showed up and told me to stay. And Cat Noir exists. I'll have to work on this when I get home.

Will comes out of the hospital doors and I hop onto my feet. "Can we stop at a crafts store before we go home?" I ask politely. He seemed surprised but slowly nodded. "Sure kid." He was in one of his good moods. I could tell.

10:00pm

We had gotten home after getting my stuff then stopping at the grocery store. I finished putting everything away and making dinner. But my plate sat cold on the desk as it sat there while I showered and changed into a pair of basketball shorts and a hoodie. I tied my short hair into a bun above my head as I wrote down everything I knew of my life.

The corona virus

Kobe Bryant

Wildfires

Living in the US

Mom and will working in the US

online school

Elections

BLM

Chadwick Boseman

But now there's a Cat Noir and Adrien. A weird lady saying riddles and mom working in Paris. Mine and Wills relationship didn't change at all. And I don't know but apparently I live here. I look around my room as I drew a sketch of it.

I finished writing all my information down. Grabbing strips of tape I ripped them off with my teeth and hung paper after paper, drawing after drawing of what I understood. When I was done I stood back. I sighed.

Nothing made sense.

I knew the facts but they didn't connect at all. If I don't know why I'm here I can't leave. But I don't know if being here will be so bad. Will it?

I sighed again. "I need to get out of here." I mumbled grabbing the same bag and putting my phone wallet and the keys Will had given me. When I looked back at the exact same door I had slammed into yesterday, it was a clean slick door. I could open and close it with ease. Why it didn't open or why it had metal encased in it last night was a mystery to me.

I opened it quietly and grabbed a snack and water bottle from the fridge. I glanced at the living room downstairs and saw Will passed out on the couch, beer bottles scattered on the floor and around him. I look back at my room and enter it.

Opening the window I stare down at the distance from the cement below. The same floor I could've died on. 'But you didn't.' The stupid voice in me said. 'But you could.' The logical one said. "Shut up you're always so boring." I told the logical side as I slipped out the window dejavú hitting me like a rock.

I made it to the fire escape and I ran up the stairs, flight after flight. Making it to the roof I noticed how close the buildings were to one another. "I could jump them." I said to myself looking down at the drops. "If I die I die an idiot." I mumble stepping back and sprinting forward. I make it to the other building and I let out a breath.

"I did it!" I giggled and stood up again. I ran and jumped over roofs as fast as I could my bag bouncing against my legs. I've never felt so free. Usually when I snuck out I'd be discovered and the entire time I'm out I'd be worried about what would happen. But this time I had no worries. I just wanted to keep running.

Eventually I make it to the end of the block where there were no where else to go but back. But instead of making my way back home I sat down. My feet dangled off the edge as I took off my bag from my back. I took a bite of a sandwich I made. And looked around me. The night was as dark as could be with tv screens on buildings being the only light aside from street lights. I looked at the one right in front of me. It was an advertisement for the Agreste fashion line. I raise an eyebrow at it.

"It's your fault isn't it. Your the boy she was talking about. Your why I'm here. Stupid Goldilocks." I grumbles taking another bite of my sandwich as I continued to stare at the screen. I take out my phone and go to my music.

Billie Eilish's party favor played softly from the phones speaker. I hummed along to the tune as my legs and head swung to the rhythm. "And I hate to do this to you on your birthday." My voice came out soft barely above a whisper. It was the only voice I had that sounded decent to the ears.

"Happy birthday by the way."

I open my phone again and search up corona virus. But the only thing that came up was the beer corona. I tsked and turned off my phone holding it in my hands as my hands clasped each other over my legs that dangled over the edge.

"It's not you it's me and all that other bullshit. You know that's bull shit, don't you babe? I'm not your party favor." I sang the last verse as the song ended and another played.

The chill of the early October breeze made its way up my sleeves leaving goosebumps in its leave. "What if I never make it home? This is total bullshit." My mind rethought my conversation with Will.

~~~
"Hey Will." I said looking at him from the passenger seat of our car. He glanced at me before returning his gaze to the road. "Hmm?" We made a turn. "What happened? How did we come to Paris? I remember everything but I don't remember coming to Paris. I guess it was from the medication or something." I played with the thread on my torn jeans.
"Well your mom got a better job here in Paris so we moved here last month. But we haven't had the time to enroll you in school yet. That's mostly all that's happened." He turned on his blinker as we sat at a red light. I nodded. "Ok. Thank you."
~~~

"Why are you sneaking out again? And didn't you like pass out the last time you did?" Like the night before, the same voice startled me. My entire body jumped and came back down into the roof but my phone wasn't so lucky.

My phone slowly went forward as it fell and I immediately reached an arm out to catch it but lost my balance and like my phone went over the edge. In 0.00001 seconds I caught my phone with one hand as the other held onto the edge of the roof. "You dumbass! What's with you and throwing me off buildings?!" I exclaim as I pull my other arm with my phone to clasp onto the edge of the roof. "Well technically I didn't throw you off you just don't have the best reactions." He protested pouting.

"Well most people aren't on roofs at night smart ass." I grumble pulling my self onto the roof. I slid onto the floor. "Which is exactly why I'm wondering why you are here." He leaned against a chimney, crossing his arms. "I needed a breather. Yesterday... wasn't a typical Monday." I brushed off my lap getting rid of dirt but a sting in my hand made me hiss.

I look at it with the light available from the night. "Ahhhhh!!! Why am I not bleeding!! Why am I not cut! What the hell!" I stare at my hand as no damage was done to it but I felt the sting of a slice on my skin. "Umm isn't that a good thing? Why? Does your hand hurt?" He says but instead I glance at the ground below. I pucker my lips as I look at the ground below.

"Worth a try." I mumble and hop over the edge in a quick movement. "Hey!" I stare at the floor as it closer my curiosity at it's peak. A huge pain on my back, stomach and legs made itself present as it hit the ground but the ground didn't come any closer. I looked at my stomach, lifting my hoodie and like I guessed everything was in one piece and it was just the pain that bothered me.

"Are you okay?!" He looks over my leg inspecting every inch. "I'm fine it just hurts a little bit." I take my leg back and shake it so the pain fades. He wacked my head and my head went straight up staring at the boy dumbfounded. "Are you insane?! You could have died! How did you not even get a scratch! I saw you leg hit the ground!" He exclaims and I shrug.

"That's what I'm trying to find out."
