1 Chapter 1: The Curse Part 1

IT is a well-known fact that supernatural beings don't exist. For example; vampires, werewolves, fairies, mermaids, demons, magic beasts, human beings with superpowers, and many more. Some say these things are just all made belief. Fictional characters are made by people to spice up a story. Stories told by mothers about big, scary monsters who come for naughty children or a guardian angel that protects us from evil.

Well, unbeknownst to the general public that these stories are true. They have been living amongst us for centuries; we just don't see them. They are not visible to the naked eye, but they are there. And a handful of humans know of them personally, or politically.

If there are bad people in the world, there are bound to be bad supernaturals who are more deadly and dangerous than human psychopaths. Of course, there is one organization that keeps these supernatural beings in check. This organization is called Hell Society. It was founded by both humans and the supernatural. They are devoted to keeping the balance between the peace of all races.

However, there is one person whose wish is to disrupt and destroy it. All because of a certain someone that person holds dear.

SPLASH

"Ughhhh! Dammit, that's hot!" exclaimed an annoyed Ren. That son of a.. whoever bumped into me is going to get it. He thought to himself as he searched for the person who made him spill his newly bought coffee on himself. It wasn't that hard to search for the culprit as it was very late in the evening. Ren saw a slim figure, with their long jet black hair tied up in a high ponytail, running away but before he could get their attention they were already too far away for them to hear him.

Disgruntled by the outcome, he cursed profusely in his head at the disappearing person. He dug around for his phone and called for his best friend. Throwing away the spilled coffee cup and getting inside his car as he drove off into the night.

Huff. Huff. After arriving at the steps of the house, Caly drank the remaining water in her bottle and then went inside. Entering she is immediately welcomed with a bucket full of water dumping on her head. The good thing about this is it's actually meant to be a prank. The bad thing is that it pranked the wrong person.

Rick, a guy at the same age as her with silver hair and black roots, slowly turned pale as he watched, from his position up the stairs overlooking the foyer, the bucket filled with ice-cold water dumped on his captain. From a third party's perspective, she seems calm and unfazed, but in the eyes of Rick, it tells a different story. Right now, he is staring at his captain's aura and to him, it is not a pretty sight to behold. Not now at least.

"Captain...." started Rick, "didn't see you there..." he laughed nervously. Not taking his eyes off his captain's glowing aura as he scratched his head. Her aura seems like white smoke coming from her and is enveloping her more and more with each passing second. Whereas, Rick began to cold sweat of the growing intensity.

"That...wasn't....meant to.... be for... you.." he slowly explained as the volume became quieter towards the end.

The white smoke began to condense turning into floating white daggers that began to form around Caly. Without thinking twice Rick quickly transformed into his cat form, a Bengal cat, and scurried away as fast as he can away from the dangerous glowing daggers that were chasing him. Caly watched the doomed cat scamper away. Her aura began to dissipate as she felt a presence coming towards her.

"Welcome back, Captain" she turned towards the new company coming from the direction of the kitchen on the right. A girl, with short pink hair and a fairly pale complexion, called Ellie and is eating an apple. "Towel?" the girl asked as she handed it over to her drenched captain.

"Thanks, Ellie" Caly wiped down the remaining droplets of water as she began to ascend the stairs stopping midway and turning back to Ellie. "Who's the buffoon his pranking this time?" she asked referring to Rick's earlier stunt.

"Con," Ellie answered as she took a bite from her apple once again, "for eating his last chocolate pudding cup."

"And it was delicious," answered a voice. Soon later, a figure started to materialize on the couch at the center of the receiving area in the foyer reading a book. A long platinum-haired man, with the tips of his hair colored with the colors of the rainbow, in his mid-twenties sat crossed leg as he flipped the page of his book casually.

Unfortunately, his unperturbed posture only made Caly's depleting annoyance come back ten-fold. Her eyes started to glow and using her powers she made the book float out of Con's hand and started to whack him on the head multiple times. Con tried to cover his head the best way he can to avoid the assaulting book. He stood up and started to run but the book followed wherever he went. Caly's eyes turned back to its human ice blue color when Con was long gone from her sight. She took a deep breath to calm herself down.

"Okay," Ellie suddenly voiced out making Caly's attention turned back to her, "Papa bear wanted me to tell you that we'll be moving out in a few hours."

Caly nodded, "Alright, I'll be ready by then" Ellie nodded as a response and left to throw away her finished apple.

A few hours later, the team has left the house after gathering the equipment they need for what is to come. Arriving at their destination, a very popular club called Beast. It is one of the very high-end clubs in the city but it is placed in a questionable location. The club is located just outside the city in the middle of nowhere. Although a few buildings are surrounding the club, most of those are already rundown or on the brink of collapsing. This also makes it stick out like a sore thumb as it is the only decent-looking building in the area. Despite that hiccup, it's a huge hit, especially with the young and super-rich.

Caly along with Ellie and Papa bear bypassed the line of people and headed straight for the entrance. As the rest of our team waited at the van on standby.

The bouncers guarding the entrance opened the doors as the group approached them. Ignoring the hateful comments of some people still waiting outside the club to be allowed in. The group strode in and what welcomed them was loud music blasting through the speakers, turning lights and lasers with different colors circling the walls of the club, people grinding each other on the dancefloor, a bar at the far right, the DJ booth smack dead at the center a few meters high up from the floor. Just then, a well-dressed guy approached them and whispered something into Papa bear's ear to follow him.

They were led up the stairs to the VIP area and up another flight of stairs to a conference room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the entire club. The guy who led them here walked towards the door on the other end of the room and went in. The group took a seat and waited. A few minutes later, the door on the opposite end opened and the guy from earlier came out along with the person they were supposed to meet, who is also the one that owns the club, followed by an entourage. The door behind them opened as well and four mean-looking guys came in. Scars and tattoos decorated their skin with bulging muscles.

"Target in sight!" Caly mind link to her teammates that aren't present in the room.

"Copy that, commencing phase two" Rick replied.

"Welcome!" shouted the man standing behind the chair at the other end of the long conference table with his hands spread out wide. His skin seems pale but if you look closely you can see a greyish tinge to it. His blonde hair lay flat and droop down his face. He wore a plain white suit with a pink undershirt, a gold band necklace adorned his neck and a single gold stud on his right ear.

The man standing before them is called Anderson Chu. He also calls himself "The Rat King" which is not that far off; as he is also the leader of a notorious gang called The Rodents. The gang is infamous for money laundering, selling drugs, prostitution, and smuggling across the country. The police have been after them for years, but so far the rodents had been able to evade the police time and time again.

"Welcome! It is an honor, NO a blessing, to have the renowned "Princess" here at my humble club." he declared as he slowly sat down at the chair opposite Papa bear. "So, to what do I owe the pleasure for your visit here, tonight?"

"We have received a complaint about one of your businesses," said Papa Bear as he leaned forward and placed his clasped hands on the table. If you weren't paying close attention you would have not noticed Anderson's eye twitch. Unfortunately, for him, Caly saw it as clear as day.

"And what pray tell would that be?" calmly asked Anderson as he hid his discomfort with a smile that goes from ear to ear. Whenever he does that his rat features can be clearly seen. "Can you also tell me who made the report? So, that I can apologize personally. It makes my heart hurt hearing that we have a displeased subordinate."

"Mr. Chu, it has come to our attention that you have breached the terms of the agreement that the Society has given to you. One of those things is kidnapping humans." proclaimed Papa bear as he released a little bit of his aura to show he was serious.

Anderson nervously coughed as he gestured to the guy, who led the group up to the conference room and whispered something in his ear. Shortly after that guy left through the door behind Papa bear, and then one of the mean-looking guys blocked the door after the man exited the room.

"I believe your sources have given you false information. As I have never done anything of the sort. I stick to my promises and that is my word. These type of accusations just hurts my poor little heart." he placed his palm to his chest and acts as if its in pain.

"Rat Demon Lord," Papa bear called out as he stared down at Anderson as more of his aura leaked out "You have five minutes to confess or we will drag you back to Hell Society by force."

Anderson Chu, The Rat King, also called as "Rat Demon Lord". That's another thing why Caly and her team are there tonight. The man in front of them as well as the people surrounding Caly and her group are all demons. They are crafty and deceitful creatures. They are not to be trusted in the first place. So, it still baffles Caly why the Society even allowed Anderson and his crew to roam the human realm freely.

You see, for a rat demon to retain human form it must feast upon the human liver regularly. That relates to one of the conditions of the Society to Anderson. They are allowed to live within the human realm as long as they only consume the liver of deceased humans only. Another is they must never in any way harm a human being. So, they are forbidden to kidnap or kill a human for their liver.

"Okay, you got me I cheat at poker. Sue me, but almost everyone does it. I don't think it's something to be the cause for jail time." Anderson joked but inside he is sweating bullets. Although, it doesn't show from the surface the three people in front of him can perfectly see how anxious he is getting in the situation.

A smoke-like figure that looks exactly like Anderson is floating above him. The only difference is that the figure is Anderson's half rat form. Long snout, pointy ears, and sharp nails. The smoke figure seems to be nibbling on its elongated nails quite angrily.

Just then the man from earlier arrived bursting through the door at the same time Con's mind links the three people. "Phase two: rescue the captives is complete."

"BAD NEWS BOSS!!" yelled the man as Anderson stared at him with wide scared eyes. Caly smirked at his expression getting excited for what is to come next.

Part 1 has ended.
