29 Chapter 28 – “Surprise”

Raiko's POV

The Next Day

I made a mistake…A grave mistake, and I don't think I'll be able to survive past today… I have told my mother I got accepted as a teacher at U.A.

"Oh, it doesn't seem so bad, why are you so depressed?"

That's because now, she's planning me a surprise party…Except I already know it, because I have eyes everywhere and that she's the exact opposite of subtle. But it doesn't matter, I have to act surprised or else she'll be mad, and I don't want that.

It's going to be torture…Meeting family members, putting a smile on my face, acting…-shudders-

I still appreciate the intention, though. I know she's very proud of me, so I'll act surprised and smile and do my best so that everyone has fun.

With that in mind, I returned home, as my mom had "suggested" that I spend the night at her place last night. It was an offer I couldn't refuse. Like, she wouldn't've taken no for an answer. Even though my home is technically the family mansion/castle, but my parents live in town, it's more practical for them.

When I opened the door and entered the house, there was a split second of silence before.

"SURPRISE" Twelve or so people shouted in chorus

I was pretty happy that I had inhuman reflexes right now because it gave me enough time to use Emotionnal Manipulation to make myself surprised, even though I obviously was not.

After the initial "surprise", I started to act like a normal person who just had been surprised by a party and my pleasantly surprised when I realized that my mom hadn't invited 150 people. There was only my parents, four grandparents, a great-grandmother, two uncles, two aunts, and Neito and his sister.

On that note, the party started, my mom starting to brag about me and my achievements. As for me, I said hello to everyone before going to talk to one of my grandmothers, Chiyo Shuzenji, who was also Recovery Girl and worked at U.A.

"Hi, Grandma Chiyo, I see you're as youthful as always. I just noticed that since I'm going to be a teacher at U.A. and that you also work there, we're going to be coworkers."

"Ah, you grew up so fast! I remember when you were just a baby….Time flew and now that baby is now my coworker…On real note, though, I'm happy that you'll be working at U.A., I'm certain that you'll like teaching obstinate kids with hero complexes… If you ever need something just ask me and I'll be happy to provide."

"Yeah, I'm certain that I'll love it…"

After talking with her for a bit, I moved on and, sometimes later, I found near Neito. My relationship with him was actually quite good now, it had started to improve once he had gotten rid of his arrogant attitude and small superiority complex and my initial dislike of him.

The starting point was when he decided to spar against each other and, no matter which combination of quirks he chose, I still beat his ass without using any quirks. After that it had taken a few more beatings to make his superiority complex disappear and now he wasn't arrogant anymore, at least when I was around. When I wasn't around, though, who knows?

Of the past few years, I had also helped him a couple of times with his training and quirk training, as well as a bit of quirk analysis amongst other things. I had actually forced him to learn hand-to-hand combat, and I realized that he was quite smart and sly, as well as a fast learner. Although I may have traumatized him a little during our more intense and more painful training sessions.

Since I was already nearby him, I decided to go talk to him.

"Hello, long time no see. It was what, two years ago the last time we saw each other? Maybe we should do a little spar to ensure you remember what I taught you, I wouldn't've wanted waste all the time I spent beat- no training you."

His face paled really quick and he shuddered a little bit before hurriedly replying to me.

"Don't worry, don't worry, I've continued to train and improve. A spar isn't necessary… Congratulations on becoming a teacher by the way. It's weird, like, we're the same age, but you're a head taller than me and already a teacher…

"Thank you. Are you still aiming for U.A.? Since I'm a teacher there now, I'll be present during the Entrance Exam. If you impress me, I won't request a spar to evaluate your skills. And don't expect any favouritism, although I'm pretty sure you already knew that." I replied to him, I still wanted to test him, I had high hopes. He'd better not disappoint me.

"Yes, I'll do my best."

"I hope"

After that conversation, the party continued for a couple of hours until everyone finally left. I must say, it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Still I needed one of my "special training" to blow off some steam.

My special training was the only way I could train now, since I was too powerful. Basically, I opened a warp gate leading to somewhere in the Pacific Ocean with no one in sight, used Limb Infestation to create a copy of myself and fought myself. The only problem with this training was that it consumed a lot of Life Energy, so I needed to eat a lot, like A LOT, after it and I couldn't to it too often.

And that's what I did. I warped myself on a small island in the middle of nowhere.

After I was sure that absolutely no one was near me, I created a copy of myself and we started to fight.

At first, it was hand-to-hand combat, and I was perfectly matched, since it was one of my extra train of thoughts who controlled the clone. It was quite a weird feeling, though, fighting against myself.

Then, once we were warmed up, we started to get serious and I sprouted arms from the ground and used them to grapple my opponent, before exploding them.

The explosion that followed obliterated a small part of the island, and I'm sure there would be one less island in the Pacific after tonight. I wasn't really affected by it, since I had a shock absorption quirk, but the same couldn't be said for my clone, who was nearly blasted apart, but managed to open a warp gate at the last minute.

We continued like this for a bit. However it was clear that I was winning, since I was near immune to explosions but my opponent wasn't.

At a certain point, my clone used one of my super moves, named Titanic Form, which basically overused Limb Infestation to create so many limbs on myself that I became a 50 metres tall monstrosity with too many legs and arms, eyes, nose, etc, sprouting on myself to count.

Honestly, this move was blasphemy, an abomination, but I do concede that it is overwhelmingly powerful. The only weakness it that it consumed an immeasurable amount of Life Energy to create and that it couldn't be maintained long as it was very unstable and that I would suffer from sensory overload. Still, I could sustain it for two or three minutes.

But since it was my clone, not me, who had used this move, all I had to do was to survive three minutes and I would be good, I would win. This was easier said than done.

So, the monstrosity started to attack me and I tried to fight it as best as I could. Of course, I could've fled, but this was training, it would break the point if I left.

The strategy mo clone chose was to try and break my shock absorption quirk my many, many repeated explosions, and so, it began to grapple me with multiple of its numerous arms before exploding them.

I did my best to destroy some of the arms, but mainly focused on dodging them and about being grappled, because even with Shock Absorbtion, it still wasn't pleasant to receive multiple explosions big enough to destroy mansions to the face, repeatedly.

Finally, I the three minutes were up, and, for its final move, my clone managed to grapple me and exploded the whole titan on me.

The whole 50 meters tall titan exploded on me.

Remember when I said that a finger could explode a very small house. How many fingers do you think is the titan?

The explosions was immense and I had to thank my quick reflexes, as I had activated Titanium Body and opened a warp gate to get out of here as soon as I had realized my opponent's intentions. If I had taken the brunt of the explosion, I'm pretty sure I would've been very severely injured.

To give you an idea of how powerful it was, we were fighting on an island. The island was approximately one square kilometer. The island didn't exist anymore. There was nothing where the island stood moments ago except an immense mushroom cloud and powerful waves. We weren't even fighting in the middle of the island.

I'm glad I dodged this one.
