27 Chapter 26 – Great Teacher Knockout

Knockout's POV

Flashback – Some Weeks Ago

I was doing my daily patrol and information gathering when I heard a loud sound, like a sound explosion going off in the distance.

Intrigued, I just detached one of my fingers and sent it to see what had happened. I saw a teen dressed in a weird costume shooting sound waves at what I presumed where robbers. She reminded me a lot of when I had just started as a Vigilante, except it was clear that she was "self-taught" and a beginner, she had no mentor like I had Knuckle Duster.

Also, she really reminded me of something… And thanks to my photographic memory it didn't take long before I remembered her, she was the little girl I had saved from a beating a couple of years ago, except she wasn't a little girl anymore. I remember I had told her that if she wanted to become a hero, she would have to train a lot, and it was clear that she had followed my advice these past years, as she had trained her quirk to an admirable level.

Still, she wasn't ready to be a Vigilante, she was too naïve and innocent, she would be caught or killed very quickly, I could see that very easily, and I wasn't going to let that happen, because it was kinda my fault if she became one, and I was curious how far she could go with a little bit of guidance and I needed experience in teaching since I was going to be a teacher.

There were just too many upsides beside the obvious "help her survive" in teaching the little girl how to be a Vigilante.

So that's what I did, I opened a warp gate a couple of meters in front of her and walked through it.

When she saw me appear, I swear I could see stars in her eyes, she was definitely one of my top fans.

I also got a good look at her, she had pretty green eyes and flowing silver hair that reached her lower back, and stood at average height, 5'2". She was overall quite beautiful and she would certainly become a popular hero, if she ever chose two become one, as she had both the looks and an extremely powerful quirk.

She was wearing some workout clothes that exposed no skin, cloves, some kind of armoured boots and a mask that was strangely similar to mine. It wouldn't protect her from anything, but at least it was all black, good for stealth and it wasn't the skintight crap that most heroes are wearing and she was concealing her appearance to an extent, so she wasn't stupid, she lacks resources and overeager.

Still, she needed a better costume, it was undeniable.

A quick Quirk Vision told me that it she was really the girl with the sound quirk.

Sound Control (7134): Allows user to control sound with hand movements

Seeing that she was too "surprised" by my sudden appearance to do anything, really, I spoke first.

"Hello, I heard a loud sound and I came to see what happened, but it seems that you were the cause. Are you the girl I saved a couple of years ago, the one with a sound quirk?"

Seeing that she was still unresponsive I waved at her and asked:

"Hello? Are you okay?"

I swear I could see her blush through her mask and she quickly answered me, in a ridiculously high-pitched voice.

"Yes, yes… You are Knockout right? I'm your biggest fan, can I please have an autograph?"

I was quite rare that I was asked autographs, but it did happen sometimes, so I obliged and I signed another copy of her mask that she took from who knows where.

"Thank you…"she muttered in thanks, clearly embarrassed by her earlier behaviour by very happy with my autograph.

It really didn't bother me, to give autographs and I was finding her behaviour quite funny, but it wasn't the reason I had chosen to speak to her, so I talked again:

"You are a Vigilante now? Since when?

"Well, I started training immediately after you saved me, but this one of my first time doing Vigilante things."

"Why are you a Vigilante? Don't you want to be a hero? Heroes are paid and are getting recognition for their work, but Vigilantes are not." I continued with my questions, leading our conversation to where I could make her realize that was she was doing right now was pretty stupid, but I didn't want to be too brutal, she had no teacher after all.

"Well, I want to be a hero, but I'm too young… But I'll enter U.A. this year! I wanted to save people but I couldn't yet, so… And I wanted to be like you…" She murmured the last part, clearly flustered, but I wasn't surprised by her reason. At least she had good intentions.

"But you won't be able to become a hero if they catch you as a Vigilante, no? No hero school will accept you if you have Vigilantism on your file, especially right now, because of me. And, give how you're doing right now, it won't take them a lot of effort to find you. What you're doing could ruin your future if you get caught," I warned her, with a stern tone.

"What do you want me to do? Stop being a Viglante? I… What should I do? She answered me, troubled by what I was implying, she was lost now that her idol was possibly telling her to stop her dream.

"Nah, just do like me, don't get caught!" I said, this time with a light smirk on my lips.

"What? How?"

I think I was frying her brain.

"Follow me, I'll teach you how to Vigilante 101", I said, gesturing her toward a warp gate that I had just opened.

She just stood there, lost, for a couple of seconds without moving a muscle. I think I had short-circuited her, the shock must've been too much. Maybe she wasn't trusting me, the situation was quite creepy, I man asking a teen to follow him through a warp gate leading somewhere the teen didn't know.

"Don't worry, the warp gate leads to a training ground of mine, it won't bite you", I reassured her, joking a bit in the process.

She finally regained control of herself and followed me, walking through the warp gate. Yeah, she was way too trusting and also naïve. I would have to change that otherwise she wouldn't last long.

And it was like this that I got my first student.

For the next few weeks taught her myself, or used one of my clones, that I made with a mix Limb investation and Bone Manipulation and that was controlled by an extra thought process to teach her. Yeah, I could do that, and it was very useful, it was basically a version of myself with most of my quirks, but that was missing a few.

In fact, clones could use all of my quirks except Quirk Vision, Infinite Stomach and Strength Gathering and a few other ones. Well, there were still "gathering" energy for the stockpile but only my main body could use it to make itself stronger, so the clones couldn't really be used for Vigilante work but were excellent to teach.

Well, I call them clones but they were more similar to puppets, as I was just using my quirks, but instead of creating only a limb, I created an entire body, but it was extremely tiring on the quirk. It was a good way to train my stamina, though, and a good way to empty my wallet by buying too much food to eat, creating and maintaining the puppets consumed a lot of Life Energy, so I had to eat a lot to replenish it.

Back on topic, I had taught the girl, whose name was Kyotaka Honowa, a lot about stealth, how to conceal one's identity, acting, etc. Subjects that would help her not be caught by the police or heroes. Fortunately, I was a master at concealing my identity.

And since she wanted to be a hero, she needed to completely separate herself from her Vigilante persona, because otherwise they would realize pretty quickly that she was a Vigilante. That meant that she needed to have a different personality and a seemingly different quirk. What I had suggested her was to only use soundwaves/shockwaves when she was a Viglante and when she would be a hero, use the full extent of her quirk, so that it would seem like two similar, different quirks.

It was really fortunate for her that I had found her while she was still unknown as a Vigilante, otherwise it could've been very precarious for her, it would've been way simpler to deduce her real identity.

The fact that I had focused on teaching her how to conceal her identity didn't mean that I had forgotten everything else, I had still trained her in hand-to-hand combat, as it was a universal skill that was almost certain to be often useful. Also, I had trained her in quirk analysis, as it could and would save your life and last, but not least, quirk training.

Her quirk was a masterpiece, that's all I have to say. It only had two things that could possibly qualify as a weakness, and it was that it didn't give her anything defensive and if an opponent was faster than the speed of sound, she was screwed.

But the only example of people that could go faster than the speed of sound were All Might, Hawk, Edgeshot, and me if I gave my all. As for the lack of defence, well, most quirks didn't do anything in this aspect, so costumes and learning how to dodge could solve this problem. I had just given her to address of the guy who had done my Vigilante costume, the same guy that Giran had recommended to me all those years ago.

I also learned something myself, Kyotaka was really smart, borderline genius. She had already analyzed her quirk a lot and figured out a lot of ways to use it, she had researched sound a lot, so I did not have a lot to teach her in that aspect.

Overall, she was a fast learner, and tt became evident that all the training paid off, and rather quickly, in a span of a few weeks, Kyotaka had changed from naïve and inexperienced to confident and a more realist person.

And that's how I spent weeks bullying, no training my first ever student.
