The night sky flashed by, stars shimmering brilliantly, a mesmerizing city in the distance illuminated the winding dark roads. Still bustling with life at the dead of night.

"Didn't we come too abruptly?" Lee loosened his collar, shifting his eyes from the quirk report in his hands,  vacantly staring out of the passenger side window.

Johnson played with his phone as he leaned back into the headrest, "The Mattias family requested you to come as soon as possible. But if you're feeling nervous, I can call ahead and tell them to delay the meeting." He smirked.

He flicked through the report again, skimming the pages.

"It's all just a bit jumbled. " He mumbled, "Aside from the physical aspects, the quirk isn't well documented."

"Last I checked with them, mental and emotional benchmark checkups were listed." Johnson side eyed Lee with a raised brow.

Lee sighed, peering down at his palm, he clenched his fist, "Just because the boy's a bit quick witted, doesn't mean he fully understands his situation."

Johnson flipped his phone close, turning towards the man he had worked for all those years ago. Faint respect lingered in his gaze, he recalled the glory days.

His ears perked up, "Is there a different metric you'd want to measure?"

Lee nodded, "The tests are guidelines at best. There's no real way to test the boy's maturity and resolve."

"Maturity? Shouldn't his emotional awareness clear that aspect?" Johnson questioned.

"Understanding what the emotions are and how to develop them, is not equivalent to controlling them."

"Even if the boy seems well put together, in the end, he might just be someone really good at holding it in." A faint melancholic whisper echoed in his thoughts, time raced back as a glimpse of his past flashed in his mind.

"Sometimes, it's better to let go."

Johnson slowly nodded, vaguely understanding the dilemma,

The two sat in peaceful silence as the car came to a smooth stop, a massive mansion gate blocking their entry.

Mechanical whirring resounded, gears shifted as the door slid open. The driver parked at the front door, gesturing that they had arrived.

"Thanks" Johnson gently close the door as he got out, waving to the driver.

"Their house looks quite spacious." Lee chimed in, walking to the door.

"This one's just a guest house, for you." Johnson shook his head as he tossed him a key.

Lee looked astounded as he glanced around, nodding, "huh, money's nice after all"

He inserted the key to the door as it clicked open. A clean albeit empty mansion greeting the two.

"Make your self at home, we're leaving to the main house in five." Johnson swiftly scuttled away to grab a change of clothes.

Whereas Lee simply stood at the door, uneasy at the prospect of a huge place for himself alone.

Shrugging his shoulders, Lee hung his jacket at the door, It wasn't long before Johnson had fetched a set of pristine formal suits, quickly handing one to him.

He didn't complain, picking a room and changing into the new set. The rest of the journey was on foot, as the two paced towards the main house.

They were promptly welcomed by the staff, and led towards meeting place.

A spacious room, decorated with several paintings, two sets of couches in the center, a table placed between them, the room heated by a cozy modern fireplace.

The Mattias family, Lucas, Diana and Felix sat across the table. Lee and Johnson took their seats. Felix stole a few glances at the formers missing arm, a brief exchange of greetings were in place before Lucas dove straight to business.

"I've heard a lot, but how exactly will the training help my son?" He asked for the specifics.

Lee appreciated the direct question, beating around the bush wasn't his style.

"Quirks are awkward, like an extra limb we can never get rid off. At first, they seem quite frail and weak, often displaying odd effects. Yet as we grow, the quirks grow with us."

The family was drawn to his words as he explained his understanding of quirks.

Felix particularly entranced by him. He thought to himself, 'Is this a hero?' Staring at him, the missing left arm irked him in some way, it rubbed his curiosity.

"This growth involves many negative factors. Physical and mental strain that can eventually drain a child before they control it properly. It's a valid concern, especially for quirks that can be dangerous."

"Felix has been following a strict training regime, shouldn't that account for growth?" Lucas inquired.

Lee nodded, "The training accounts for his growth, but not the quirk's itself. Typically, quirks aren't trained until pre pubescent age. However, your son needs to control his quirk fast."

Felix felt a strange aura, faintly pulsating around the retired hero. From the looks of it, it wasn't anything the others could see.

"The nature of his quirk is predominantly a simple boost in all metrics. Hence, the only way to train such a quirk, is to use it effectively and push yourself to the limits."

Diana shot him a glare, "Is it necessary to involve martial arts? I've heard quirks being improved through other forms of mental training."

Immediately sympathizing with the mothers concern, Lee interjected, "The type of training depends on the quirk. As of now, your son's mutant quirk is no mental feat that he must concentrate to control."

Diana frowned, it was evident that she was hesitant to approve Felix practicing martial arts.

"Rather, the only way to reign in the quirk, is to use it and integrate it in one's daily life. Triggering fight and flight responses to allow it to grow. Sparring and other basics are the only tools capable of ingraining that ability in your son's mind." Lee insisted.

Lucas wished to further question the retired hero, but he felt a slight tug on his arm.

Felix glanced at his father. Not wanting to continue this so called interrogation any longer. He would rather skip to the training part directly.

"I understand, Dr.Lindsworth and I fully trust your ability. I hope you can lend us your experiences , to help our son." Lucas bowed slightly.

Lee nodded deeply, his eyes lingering at Felix. The entire meeting he was looking to evaluate the boy.

Was he quick and rushed to the point? Or perhaps he was more timid in nature. Neither could fully describe Felix in his opinion. Despite being quiet, the boy's eyes held that spark of curiosity.

An eagerness and hunger he couldn't explain.

Felix and him locked eyes, sharing a glance. The retired hero knew, that the boy was not as simple as his parents might deem.
