18 Chapter 17: Arc Reactor Mk. 1

Time quickly passed and the entrance exam of UA was almost there.

David left a few months ago as he has work back in I-island.

But Melissa stayed and she was their contact with him.

"I... I think we did it!" Izumi raised her safety goggles as a circular object glowed blue in front of them.

"Bloody hell, we really did." Momo was in awe at their creation.

"How's the output of it!?" Melissa asked and Izumi quickly checked.

"15 gigajoules a second... It's a sucess! The ideal is 30, but we got 50%!" Izumi cheered with them and the girls hugged each other.

"Hell yeah!" Melissa screamed in happiness and they jumped around in joy.

"But what now?" Momo asked and their parade got ruined.

"Yeah... We still need to make the suit..." Izumi's face fell.

"Hey, at least we did it. You can stay in the general studies section of UA first before you can transfer due to the sports festival." Momo tried to cheer her up.

"N-no... I want to stay with you guys." Izumi frowned heavily.

"I'll consult dad with this first." Melissa thought that David could help them with designing it.

Melissa then received an email from David after she sent him a message.

"O-oh! Ohhh!" Melissa read it and she beamed at them.

"What? What is it?" The two looked at her with hope.

"Dad designed repulsors for us to use! He designed it in his spare time! And we just have to hook it to the arc reactor!" Melissa cheered and they were all smiles once again.

"Quick let's make it and start tests with it!" Momo urged them on.

The trio of nerds then made the repulsors. It was a gauntlet made of an alloy of titanium and steel that Momo formed with her quirk.

"Your quirk is as awesome as ever Momo!" The two nodded at her and Momo blushed.

She was like a better 3d printer. "Okay! Let's start with the electronics and then hook it to the power supply!" Melissa shouted and they nodded.

Momo created the needed materials. Izumi who was the most knowledgeable about the arc reactor made the wiring for the power supply.

And Melissa was the one who triple checked everything unless they want to end up dead.

They worked on it fervently and the day of the exam arrived.

"You three worked hard." Alex gave them some vitajuice and they perked right up.

"Made it just in time too." Izumi smiled as she teared up, looking at the gauntlets that connected to a chest plate.

"I'll call this, the arc reactor mk.1." Izumi planted it on the chest plate and it glowed, powering up the repulsors.

"Damn. That's so cool." Alex was a bit jealous. Who doesn't want to fire lasers on demand?

"We'll be twins on the exam!" Melissa got excited as she planted another arc reactor on another pair of repulsors.

"You girls will be making waves in the exam." Alex ruffled their hairs.

"How about you Momo? You don't want one? You were a tremendous help to us." Izumi asked her.

"No, I have my own way of fighting." Momo grinned as she couldn't wait to show everyone how she will fight for real.

"Atta girl, you girls make me proud." Alex smiled at them and they beamed at him.

"Hey! How about me!?" Mina asked him with a raised brow.

"Well, let's just say that metals don't stand a chance against you now." Alex gave her a thumbs up and she giggled.

"Heck yeah! I burned myself a lot with my acid to get that strong!" Mina grinned.

"Hmph, silly extras. I'll be at the top of the exam!" Katsuki screeched.

"Oh! Let's show everyone our manliness!" Kirishima was excited. His hardness can now supplement One for All at 50%.

He was a real juggernaut if he wanted to. Throwing around punches that can topple buildings if he wished to do so.

"I'll be at the top." Alex grinned as he of course didn't skip out on his training.

"Yeah, you're a monster." Ochaco agreed as the others nodded except Katsuki.

Though she was quiet, not really denying it. And that's as good as it'll get.

"Good luck out there zygotes. You make me proud." Allmight grinned at them and their hearts swelled.

"Did you bring your lunch? How about pencils? Erasers?" Inko was fussing.

"Mom, don't worry. I will win this for you. And for Alex who supported me all the way." Izumi blushed.

"That's the spirit! Plus ultra!" Yagi shouted and they raised their hands in the air.

"PLUS ULTRA!" Everyone screamed as they clenched their butts.

"Weirdos, plus ultra I guess." Rumi shrugged as she followed their lead.

They were transported with Momo's limo and she wished them good luck. "I am already guaranteed a slot due to a recommendation, good luck everyone."

"Go! Katsuki! Alex! If you win, you'll be a lucky guy tonight!" Mitsuki cheered Alex and Katsuki on.

Alex's face twitched while Katsuki glared at Alex.

"Tch, I hope you fucking bomb the entrance exam." Katsuki clicked her tongue.

"She'll console me anyways." Alex shrugged and Katsuki bristled because she thought that was really possible.

"Stop fighting you two." Momo huffed at them. "Huh!? Shut up you nerd!" Katsuki was as rough as ever.

They then went to the auditorium and a guy with fake ass blonde hair entered the stage with smoke and confetti.

"Can I hear a hey!" He shouted and everybody was silent.

"You're at UA! Show me your excitement!" He yelled again and you could hear the deafening silence.

"Tough crowd..." He didn't let it get him down though.

"That's present mic, he can produce loud sounds with his voice." Izumi whispered to Alex.

"Hey you, why are you whispering over there? This is a prestigious event where we must listen!" A damned four-eyes scolded them.

Izumi was about to apologize, but Alex put a hand over her mouth and she froze. Blushing like a tomato.

"Present mic? Well, he's enthusiastic at least." Alex shrugged as he ignored the buff nerd.

"Now! Before you boys and gals go take the written exams, we will have the practicals first! Spice things up you know? Read the pamphlet we gave you." The teacher ordered.

"We gain villain points by destroying robots huh? Hey, teach. Isn't this exam really unfair for very useful quirks that aren't destructive?" Alex asked him.

Present mic suddenly stilled and he was whispering to himself.

"Uhh, hey principal Nezu... That kid has a point. Aizawa's quirk is exactly like that." Hizashi suddenly realized he was right.

"Continue, we have hidden parameters that will test them for UA. If they don't realize it, boot them out." Hizashi received his directives.

"Tough luck then kid, cuz that's the standards of the school." Hizashi shrugged and Alex sighed.

"I guess this shitty school is being managed by a crappy principal. Heroes aren't born, they're made." Alex rolled his eyes.

Hizashi was gobsmacked by that and the buff nerd beside them gave him the stink eye.

"Uhhh, so there are three types of robots that will be released in replica cities. Each one has a corresponding score." Hizashi explained.

"Sensei! The pamphlet says there are four. I am starting to agree with him. If this is the standard of UA, even forgetting about the pamphlet. Then it seems like its reputation is not deserved." The nerd complained like a Karen.

"You, examiner number 104. Iida, Tenya? I was about to get to that." Hizashi sighed.

"Oh, sorry for that. Please continue." The nerd blushed and Alex's group rolled their eyes.

"The 0 pointer. It's a bot that will not give you any points. Rather, you will get a deduction! So don't get in its way, or your chances might just go down the drain." Hizashi warned them.

"Then... Give it your all! Plus ultra!" Hizashi raised his hand and the students roared.

Everybody went to the zones they were in and Alex was with the nerd; Iida.

"Are you planning on sabotaging me? Staring is rude." He said to Alex and he rolled his eyes.

"Damn, karens are everywhere it seems. Shut up four-eyes, I'm evaluating the other competitors." Alex snorted.

"This is an entrance exam not a com-" Iida was about to yap again, surely he has a doctorate on yappology.

"Shhh, this is one. I'll show you." Alex shushed him as he caressed his face, making Iida shut up.

"Go!" Hizashi who was the one proctoring their exam shouted and the students were frozen.

Alex immediately flapped his green, spiky wings. Flying in the skies as his enhanced vision locked on to robots.

He then unleashed hell on them, spewing fireballs like a maniac.

Streets burst into flame and he was already racking up points like crazy.

"What are you waiting for? There's no countdowns in real life!" Hizashi grinned as the others ran like their life depended on it.

Meanwhile, Alex was destroying every robot he can see. Sniping them with his fireballs.

"Heh, this is easy." Alex wondered how the others were doing and he saw explosions at the other replica city.

And at that particular place, Katsuki had a cold expression on her face.

Thanks to Alex and Rumi's training, she has learned something that is extremely important in battles.

And that is to be as ruthless, cold, and calculating as possible or die.

Her arms began to release explosions. She then jumped and small bursts of explosions on her hands and feet accelerated her at breakneck speeds.

With a cold glint in her eyes, she crashed right in front of a 3 pointer which is as large as a small house.

A concentrated explosion went straight through its chest like a lance.

Katsuki then spun, using her explosives to maneuver herself.

Like a rocket, her heel released explosions. Accelerating her kick with unbelievable speed.

When her leg made contact with the robot's head. It released another explosion that shattered its metal head.

"I'll kill all of you robot bastards." She whispered, hunting down anything robotic.

Her focus as sharp as a razor, Katsuki outmaneuvered everyone while still being extremely combat capable.

At another replica city, Melissa and Izumi were standing back to back.

They were playing target practice with the robots, shooting down everything they saw with their repulsors.

"Hahaha! That's it, come!" Izumi was having a blast and Melissa whacked her on the head.

"Don't get too arrogant, you're getting too excited." Melissa deadpanned at her.

"Ow... Sorry." Izumi felt power. And it made her a little too drunk in it.

Momo was a mobile artillery, creating cannons on her shoulders and arms. Shooting robots down with prejudice.

One even shot rockets at her, but she dropped the cannons and made fists of pure metal.

"No you don't." Momo blocked them with it and she pummeled them to the ground.

"It's time for tea, let's end this quickly." Momo spawned a belt filled with 30mm HE rounds and a GAU-8 avenger.

She planted it on the ground and started blasting. Turning robots into swiss cheese.

Ochaco was carrying steel beams and she was using them as massive clubs or javelins.

"Phew! Good thing I learned from Alex. Or I wouldn't know that mass doesn't disappear with 0 gravity." Ochaco wiped some sweat on her brow.

She would slam robots with her weapons before returning their mass. Or throwing them at breakneck speeds.

And like celestial objects, they accelerate incredibly quickly. And as they say, physics is a bitch.

The steel beams she threw still had inertia and Newton's 3rd law of motion hit the robots right on the face.

As they've learned, her quirk isn't actually just zero gravity or making things weightless.

It defies the laws of physics and changes their mass as well.

And Ochaco can control it as she wishes. Unlike if she wants to cancel the weightlessness by putting her finger pads together.

"Time to be a man! Uogh!" Kirishima meanwhile, was crumpling robots left and right with One for All.

And as expected of being a mini Allmight, he was destroying them left and right with a punch.

"Melt for me~?" Mina was hosing down robots left and right, her caustic acid increased in strength a lot due to training.

And they melted into puddles of goop after a solid minute.

"Ugh, I need to be like the Alien! My acid isn't strong enough." Mina pouted.

After some time, a huge robot appeared. Destroying buildings on its way.

"Hmm?" Alex heard cries of help and he saw a black haired girl under some rubble.

She was trying to kick it away with her leg that wasn't trapped and she had a strong and developed quad. But she won't make it in time.

"Shit, is UA really full of idiots or something?" Alex transformed fully into a rathian and he dropped on the ground with a heavy thud.

He was now 4 meters tall and 17 meters in length.

Roaring, he started charging at the robot and he flapped his wings.

Backflipping, his clubbed tail smashed the robot right on the chest, making it topple to the ground.

He wasn't done though, he fired numerous fireballs at it until it exploded. Sending flames everywhere.

Alex looked at the fallen girl and his golden eyes with slit pupils made her freeze.

"Uhhh, hello? Kero." She didn't know what to say.
