*KNOCK KNOCK*
It was too early in the morning for someone to knock at her front door.
Then, Eira paused. The sound wasn't coming from the front door, but the door to her bedroom. If she remembered correctly, no one should be able to get into her home unless they broke him.
She slowly twisted the doorknob open while creating a knife out of ice in her other hand. In an instant, she quickly opened the door, and instinctively aimed the knife at neck level.
However, her wrist was grabbed before her knife could connect.
"Thankfully my muscle memory reacted in time." a familiar voice said.
Eira squinted her eyes, "Yu?! What are you doing in my house? I nearly pierced my knife into your neck."
"Don't worry, this isn't the first time that's happened. And did you forget?" Yu asked.
"About what?" Eira replied, her head tilted cutely with a confused expression.
Yu pulled out a set of keys and wiggled them in front of Eira's face.
"You gave me keys to your house three years ago before you left, who do you think was the one cleaning the house occasionally from time to time?"
"Ah, I remember now. Thank you, if it weren't for you, I'm sure the roof would've fallen over already." Eira said, her cheeks faintly pink. "Now go away, I'm gonna change."
Yu chuckled and left the girl alone to make breakfast for the two of them.
It's been almost a year since she visited this house, mostly because she didn't have time for it anymore. Nonetheless, the empty house filled a spot in her heart. The time she spent here with Eira who had no one was to be treasured.
By the time she finished making breakfast, Eira had already changed, and made herself look presentable.
"Pancakes, I hope you'll like it." Yu said.
Eira took a big bite out of it, "There's never a time where I didn't like your cooking."
Yu chuckled and turned the television on. Suddenly, something caught the attention of both of them.
"An incident in Hosu City involving the pro hero, Igenium. It was said that he has been injured beyond recovery by the Hero Killer, Stain." the reporter said.
"Is this the reason why he was in my backyard last night?" Eira questioned.
Yu dropped her fork, "WHAT? He was in your backyard last night?! Why didn't you call me immediately?"
"It was too sudden." Eira raised her hand in defense. "He was planning a sneak attack on me and said something along the lines of finishing his work."
"You didn't try to stop him?" Yu questioned.
"He already escaped before I was going to chase him down. There were many pro heroes along with you patrolling the area, I can't be blamed." Eira said.
Yu was about to say something when she had her phone rang and moved to the other room to take the call. A few minutes later, she came back with a bored expression on her face.
"What happened?" Eira asked.
"Apparently, we're doing internships, and I have to teach students about what it takes to be a hero. I also have to decide whether they qualify for it or not." Yu said.
Eira raised an eyebrow, "It sounds like a hassle for you, are you sure you're going to take this seriously, and not use this as a chance to pass time?"
Yu looked away from Eira and nervously laughed.
"Haha, of course not…"
"Whatever you say." Eira said. "And by the way, I'm choosing you for the internship program."
"Huh? Why? Aren't you already a pro hero?" Yu asked.
"Technically I'm still a second year student, I haven't officially graduated from the school yet. What do you say? Do I have the qualifications for it?" Eira asked with a smile.
But behind that smile had a different meaning, something like a threat.
"N-needless to say, you don't even have to ask." Yu said. "If you're ready, let's go to my office."
"..."
Eira watched as the labeled number twenty-three pro hero, Mt. Lady, lay down on the sofa eating snacks, and reading a newspaper while her intern was vacuuming the floor.
"I didn't sign up for this…" Eira heard him mutter.
Minoru Mineta, a student of Class 1-A, with a unique quirk relating to growing and throwing sticky balls.
Eira smiled to herself, he probably thought there was something else, but he didn't know about Yu as much as her. She glanced at Takeyama who was lazing around, this was just her usual behavior.
"Hey, aren't you the pro hero, Zero?" Mineta asked.
"Yes, yes I am." Eira replied.
"Are you here for an internship as well?"
"Yes, I am."
"Is this what she usually does as a pro hero?"
In the corner of her eye, she saw Takeyama tense up.
Eira smirked, "Unfortunately, yes, she is like this most of the time. I've been trying to tell the staff of the school about her behavior, but they don't seem to listen to me. Why don't you tell them? Class 1-A seems to hold a lot of significance currently."
"Alright, I'll just do that or change internships." Mineta said before leaving the room.
Once he was out the door, Takeyama instantly got up from her sofa, and tackled Eira onto the floor.
She pinched Eira's cheeks, "Are you trying to get me in trouble?"
Eira grinned, "Maybe it's about time to start changing your behavior and take your job as a pro hero seriously, yeah?"
"So what do you want me to do?" Takeyama said with a straight face. It sounded more like a statement than a question.
"Let's go patrol the city, the sun is starting to set, and you killed a lot of time when it could be used productively." Eira said.
Yu pulled herself off of Eira and headed out the door with Eira following behind her.
"Isn't it nice? Just walking around the city is pretty nice isn't it? Just the two of us enjoying the outdoors, quite peaceful isn't it?" Eira said.
"What about this is peaceful to you?" Takeyama mumbled with a bit of an attitude.
Eira didn't mind, "After three years of nonstop fighting and improving myself. This is the most peaceful I've been in a long time, of course, part of the reason being that you're here with me."
Takeyama was left speechless and felt a comfortable warmth enveloping her entire body as well as her cheeks.
"What are you doing just standing there?" Eira asked as she held out her hand. "Come on, let's continue this special moment between us."
Takeyama couldn't help but smile and took Eira's hand in hers.
"You're right, let's enjoy this…date."
"This is a date?"
"..."
"Hahaha, isn't this romantic? A girl born to freeze was warmed up by a certain older girl. Unknowingly, that certain older girl's behavior was very naughty, using her beauty to seduce people into getting what she wants."
"Hey…where are you going with this?"
"Yet she decided to change for the better because of her deep care for a certain cold beauty."
"You think you're pretty? Where did you get all this confidence from?"
Eira chuckled and stopped before facing Yu.
"I think I'm pretty, I see it in your eyes that you think I am as well. But how could I…" Eira trailed off, reaching out her hand to tuck Yu's hair behind her ears. "...compare myself to a beauty like yourself?"
"I-"
Before Yu could finish her sentence, the emergency ringtone rang on both of their phones.
"Emergency! Nomus have entered the city! Secure all perimeters and get to your positions! Pro heroes!"
