Symbol of Peace?

UA-1 Dorms, Common Area

In the living room of the common area, inside the UA dorms, a group of students could be seen hanging around the sofa.

Some of them were watching the T.V, while a few were busy looking at their phones.

All of them seemed to be acquaintances based on their laid-back attitude with one another, but the awkward atmosphere left them at a loss with what to do.

According to their homeroom teacher, their classmate, Katsuki Bakugo should be back by now.

They were given a two-week break while their classmate was recuperating in the hospital. A few days earlier, their homeroom teacher visited them each and asked their parents for permission to live inside the dorms.

They were quite excited at the prospect of living alongside their peers, but once they managed to arrive there and saw that they were missing someone, they all felt awkward.

It was supposed to be a touching reunion after surviving a life-threatening ordeal together, only for it to turn into a pity party.

Their classmate, Katsuki Bakugo was supposed to meet with them two days before, but when they arrived there, he didn't make an appearance.

When their president called him a few minutes later, it turned out that his legs weren't healed yet. That's why they figured he needed help to move.

They made a decision that the closest to him will escort him to the dorms so they had asked his childhood friend(?), Izuku Midoriya to accompany him.

They were surprised when he refused adamantly with a fearful expression and said that his classmate, Eijiro Kirishima should be the one to do it because he was closer to Bakugo.

Eijiro Kirishima also refused. He stated that he was ashamed of facing Bakugo because he wasn't manly enough to save him.

Thus, the responsibility was passed on to someone who didn't want to do it but did it anyway because she was told that her Quirk might be useful.

That girl was Ochako Uraraka. Now known as little birdie.

When she returned, she looked a little paler and lost. But she told them that Bakugo was called to the principal's office.

And so they waited.

Two days later, not a single sign of Bakugo was seen.

"Say, don't you think Bakugo might be lost?" Ashido Mina, a pink-skinned girl with horns asked her classmates.

"...That... I think you're right..." Tenya Ida agreed somewhat. He was still a little upset that Bakugo lied to him, telling him that he can't walk even though Uraraka said he was perfectly fine when she met him.

"Hey, guys." Denki Kaminari, a boy with a black streak in his yellow hair called out while looking at the T.V. "Did you watch him fighting that Villain?"

"..."

All of them immediately stopped what they were doing. They glanced at each other and saw the uncomfortable looks they each had.

Each one of them saw that battle. At first, they were afraid that All Might and the other heroes would be too late and Bakugo might already be in danger.

But when they say All Might, they all sighed in relief. After all, he was the Symbol of Peace. He wouldn't lose no matter what.

But then... when they saw his true appearance. A skinny old man that spews blood every now and then, they despaired. Is their teacher going to lose? Just like that? They all thought.

Alas, their concerns were unfounded. Because the moment they heard the familiar cry, a mop of blonde hair descends into the fray.

After that, well, they were too shocked to even react properly.

How could Bakugo move like that?

Questions like this filled their minds as they say Bakugo perform a series of actions that he hasn't shown so far.

He moves like a martial artist, but not at the same time.

Was he always that powerful?

They wondered if he was holding back against them. If he had that many destructive capabilities, then it wouldn't even be a stretch to say he was just showing them the tip of the iceberg.

And at the climax, each one of them, their hearts trembled once they saw the TRUE Katsuki Bakugo.

Drenched in crimson blood, his muscles glistened with sweat and untold power. His scarlet eyes gleamed in the darkness as he gave off the feeling of a cold merciless killer.

Flashes of Orange was all they could see before All For One and Bakugo flew all over the place, leaving destruction in their wake.

Patches of land were torn and flipped over, smoke and dust rose as their fists shook the ground. Even when the camera was high above the sky, they could hear the shockwaves simultaneously passing through.

If All Might's fight could be described, it would be overpowering and plain.

After all, he only punches forward without any fancy moves, just from sheer force alone, he could subdue his enemies with ease.

As for Bkaugo's fight?

It was exhilarating!

They all dreamed to fight like that. Where everyone in the world cheered for them. Displaying their hard work in front of the masses.

He, a student was willing to risk his life to save his teacher.

What about them?

They could only watch in awe and envy as Bakugo beat the shit out of All For One live.

Literally.

As they were reminiscing about what happened a few weeks ago, a meek voice interrupted their daydreaming.

"I-I think Kacchan didn't mean to do that..." Izuku Midoriya, Bakugo's childhood friend(?) said all of a sudden.

Glancing at each other, and at Midoriya's pale face, they all choose to ignore that subject for now and focused on more important matters.

"So, where do you think is he now? Surely after he was called to the principal's office, he should be back by now right?" Momo Yaoyorozu stated. She was still a little concerned and quite confused at her fellow classmate.

She visited him first, along with the others who tried to rescue him at the hospital. She was also ashamed at facing Bakugo because of his state. Luckily they had Recovery Girl to heal him or he could've been a cripple for life.

What she was confused about is that why did Bakugo call her master and cry all of a sudden?

Bakugo never reacted like that even when they first met so she wondered what had happened to him.

"Maybe he got lost?" Mina replied.

"Hm, yeah I guess Bakugo could get lost too huh?" Kirishima also thought that Bakugo might've been lost and decided to go home.

"If he was lost, then Aizawa-sensei should've brought him back by now?" Toru Hagakure replied.

She was right. If he got lost, their homeroom teacher should've picked him up again and tell him where the dorm is. It was already late in the afternoon, so he should've been here in the morning.

"Hey, I think I know where he is." Kaminari hastily said. He pointed at the T.V where Bakugo was standing.

They all turned their heads and stared at the T.V. screen. They could see Bakugo standing on a pedestal. What they found strange was his clothing. Usually, Bakugo wouldn't wear his tie and only left his blazer open but now he wore it.

Unlike their red ties, his was pitch black. With an opened blazer and slick back hair, he gave off the feeling of a confident but terrifying person. His crimson eyes gave a playful glint as he eyed the cameras one by one.

"Why is he on the news again?" Minoru Mineta, a waste of air complained.

"Shhh, be quiet." Mina covered Mineta's mouth and gestured for him to be quiet and keep watching.

[Good morning citizens of Japan. My name is Katsuki Bakugo, a student of UA High School.]

Despite his good morning and polite words, his voice was calm and cold.

"This must've been filmed in the morning." Yaoyorozu guessed.

"Yeah, but why is he on the news again?" Mineta complained again. This time, Mina covered her palms with acid to burn him slightly.

"Ah!"

They all ignored him and watched the T.V screen intently.

[I am here to apologize for the villain's attack a few weeks ago. On that note, I am also here to make a statement.]

"Statement?" They all wondered aloud.

[A few weeks ago... our school was attacked.] Bakugo paused. He stared at the cameras as if he was staring at them. [Some of my fellow classmates were injured, and some of the heroes that were assigned to protect us were also injured.]

[The League of Villains.] He scowled.

They all wondered where he was going with this. This was the first time they saw Bakugo talk so much. Usually, he would just yell die and curse them.

[A group of individuals who are targetting the future heroes. Me specifically.]

"Huh?" They all had their mouths agape.

"W-what!?" Midiroya stood from his seat. Shock was written all over his face.

"What is he saying? Weren't they targetting all of us?" Kaminari wondered aloud.

They all stared at each other before Yaoyoruzo spoke. "I think he's taking the blame for himself."

"What...?"

"We aren't the only students in UA high you know." She glanced at them. "Some of the parents from different courses have been complaining about the safety of their children. UA said that they don't need to worry about it, but they still blamed us and some of the teachers."

It was only natural. After all, they weren't the only students that study in UA high, but they were the only students that got targeted twice. What would happen if the League of Villains targeted a non-heroic course?

"By taking all the blame, they won't be able to complain against UA or us. He's basically telling them to complain against him instead." Yaoyorozu closed her eyes. She felt grateful but a little frustrated at her classmate's selfishness.

[I'm the reason why our special training was attacked. Therefore, I could only come upfront and apologize.]

He bowed.

[I apologize.]

They were shocked. 'That' Bakugo was apologizing? What happened to him to have his personality suddenly changed like that? Is he even the Bakugo they knew?

[I apologize for being weak.]

Alas, he wasn't finished yet.

[I apologize for implicating hundreds, if not thousands of people because of my weakness.]

Arrogant.

[If I wasn't weak, then I wouldn't have been kidnapped. If I could've taken them down, then people wouldn't have died.]

Katsuki Bakugo was an arrogant person. Everyone knew of it. He was the type of person who would hide his fear in his arrogance.

[Therefore I apologize.]

He was an insecure person. They knew he had problems communicating so they brushed off his insults.

[But... I will not apologize for killing that villain.]

They flinched.

His voice was chilling. Just from hearing it, they felt goosebumps on their skin.

[Ever since the dawn of Quirks, he has run rampant in our society.]

The Katsuki Bakugo they knew weren't this confident.

[Villains call him... the Symbol of Evil.]

The Katsuki Bakugo they knew weren't this straightforward.

[He ruled the underworld, kidnapping kids with powerful Quirks and stealing them.]

The Katsuki Baklugo they knew weren't this cold.

They questioned themselves if they really knew Katsuki Bakugo.

They disregarded him as a child who has an inferiority complex. A normal bully of sorts.

[Just like me. If I didn't defend myself, he could have stolen my Quirk.]

Now, they were wondering if they knew who Katsuki Bakugo really is.

[Now?]

The Bakugo in their eyes changed.

Clap!

Their eyes opened.

[Puff! He's gone.]

What appeared was the face of a demon. His red-blood eyes peered into their eyes, not a single shred of guilt could be seen in them. There was only certainty, and madness.

[I saved you.]

His voice was bordering on contempt

[You should be thanking me!]

His voice sounded angry but his playful smile was etched on his face.

"Hey... are you sure this is Bakugo?" Mineta didn't complain this time. This time, it sounded as if he was questioning himself.

[I know, I know. I know you all are really grateful to me. After all, I saved thousands if not millions of people dying in the future.]

At this point, Bakugo's voice grew colder and colder.

[So... since I'm a hero, I'll give you all a break.]

[I forgive you.]

His cold voice suddenly became warm.

[After all... now that you lost your Symbol of peace, you would need a new one right?]

He swept his hair back, revealing the tired look in his eyes.

[Blast.]

"Blast?" They all wondered aloud.

[You may call me blast in the future.]

With a devilish smile, Bakugo winked at the camera.

The girls who were watching all gulp subconsciously. Their hearts skipped a beat as he strode confidently towards the exit.

[I'll be your Symbol of Peace.]

They all stared at the screen in a daze. Watching Bakugo drop a bombshell and leave so casually.

All of them were shocked, but the one who was shocked the most was Izuku Midoriya.

'S-Symbol of Peace?'

------

In a luxurious office filled with All Might figurines, All Might sat in his seat with eyes opened wide.

He knew Bakugo would start a press conference, so he opened his T.V and watched it intently.

He couldn't be with him because of his news of retiring. If he appeared there with Bakugo, then instead of listening to his student, they would ask him questions instead.

A sigh escaped his lips as he thought about the future.

"Hopefully, Midoriya could catch up to him..."

After watching Bakugo's 'Statement', he felt afraid.

He, who is the Symbol of Peace was afraid.

It wasn't the Bakugo he was expecting.

He was expecting an awkward apology from Bakugo and for Nezu to fix his image.

He didn't expect Bakugo to suddenly provoke the media like that.

There was a chance that Bakugo might be ostracized and be forced out of the Hero industry. Just hearing his student suddenly say that he didn't feel guilty at killing a villain. At that point, All Might's non-existent stomach dropped.

He remembered it vividly.

At the end of the battle, he and Bakugo fist-bumped each other.

Golden Lightning manifested from his fist onto Bakugo's.

He was shocked, but it soon subsided when he saw Bakugo pass out.

He was worried about it ever since he returned to his house, but he hasn't found anything strange yet.

Midoriya still had One for All.

He could still transform, but he couldn't use it anymore.

It would be disturbing if Bakugo suddenly turned into a villain.

If what he saw wasn't his imagination, then he couldn't fathom how powerful Bakugo would be.

But... his worries were for nothing.

A soft smile formed on his lips as he remembered Bakugo's parting words.

[I'll be your Symbol of Peace.]

Looking at his back, he remembered how it was bloodied and littered with scars when they were fighting together. That feeling of reassurance. That confident smirk.

"Symbol of Peace, huh..."
