2 Still A Hatchling

-Four years old-

Ayato was, for once, curious. Currently, he was looking at the moving truck right next to their house.

Some workers were moving stuff inside the two-story building while a man with brown hair directed them, probably the new neighbor.

Hm. This was quite the development... nothing much changed for him but the potential was there.

"Ayato, what are you doing?"

The four-year-old turned toward his mother and pointed at the house next to theirs.

"New neighbors."

She chuckled and looked outside the window with interest, watching all the furniture being moved.

"You think there will be someone your age to make friends with?"

He resisted the urge to roll his eyes, he didn't want to make friends with children "His own age", it was stupid to make friends with someone who couldn't understand you.

"We should welcome them after they finish settling in, but for now, it's time to eat."

___

Ayato was not a very interactive person unless it was with his family. It showed with this foreign girl. she was from America, meaning their neighbors were from America, and was it just him, or was different color hair normal in this world?

The crimson-haired girl sitting next to him was almost as quiet as himself.

He suspected that she didn't know Japanese, but her name was Japanese.

Yukimori Rin. Her parents were apparently Japanese that moved to America but now they're back... As their neighbors.

Great.

"Rin still has to learn Japanese, she has been speaking English all of her life so it will take time to adjust."

...Well that was neat.

He didn't need to put himself out there if there was no need.

"You wanna play?"

The cute voice that suddenly asked the question in English was coming from his right, gaining his attention in the form of a raised eyebrow.

"Rin, dear, he doesn't-"

"Yeah, sure."

The silence in the room was telling.

"Ayato, when did you learn English?"

Now, what would he answer to that question?...

He shrugged.

"Meh, here and there in my free time."

"Free time?"

"Free time."

-Ayato, 5 years old-

A black-haired kid is enjoying his alone time in his room.

"Ayato! How can you be so boring? why do you sleep all day?"

...Correction, he was enjoying his alone time.

"Hey, I watch anime... and draw."

He knew it wasn't much, she knew too but decided to not point it out.

"Yeah, you can draw but you never do anything, do you even have friends besides me?"

Ayato could only sigh, this girl was a handful.

"The kids are afraid of my horns and eyes. Besides, they are kids."

This time, Rin wasn't kind enough to ignore the obvious.

"You're a kid too."

...He sighed again, and a single reptilian eye opened to stare at the redhead.

She didn't flinch, knowing that her friend wouldn't hurt her, not to mention that he was too lazy to do it, she was his only friend.

"Thank you for summing that up, Rin."

She pouted at him, it wasn't very effective.

"Mou, Ayato! Come on, let's go outside!"

Ayato sighed, knowing what was about to happen, it was inevitable, he had to go with her or she would annoy him even further.

Ever since his quirk emerged, Rin wanted to play more and more, the reason?

His Dragon form was cute.

His eye twitched at the memory but he couldn't deny it, his dragon for was cute... For now!

His body was strong, he had regeneration, and he could make Tail and Wings grow out of his back. Basically, he was a dragon.

He could also take on a half-dragon form, making scales grow on his body giving him protection and more strength.

And he was pushing his quirk to his limit every time he could, Training had to be done in secret because "A five-year-old can't strain their body".

His body got stronger the more he trained, inherited the trait from his grandfather.

Contrary to popular belief, he couldn't breathe fire, Thanks to his mother, who didn't use her quirk much, he had control over air.

Meaning, he was an anomaly, weird, an enigma.

His quirk was a mutation, transformation, and emitter all at the same time.

He didn't complain, he just won the genetic lottery or it was the privilege of reincarnation, he honestly did not care.

"... Want to play pokemon?"

"That's a single-player game."

"How about... Conquest?"

"That game is boring."

Jeez, what a picky brat.

She looked down in what would normally look like sadness but he found out early that it was contemplation.

"How about we play sink the ship?"

...Did she mean sea battle? the game where you sink ships to win?

"Yeah sure, I don't see why not."

Her smile could have made adults listen to her every request and it was slowly developing into what would be considered a lethal weapon.

Hmm, maybe if she aimed it at the villains, she could have fixed the criminal problem...

Thoughts for later.

-Ayato, 6 years old-

"Why are you crying?"

Rin flinched at the question that came from behind her, when she turned back, Ayato raised an eyebrow at her, she still had some tears in the corner of her bloodshot eyes.

"T-the girls were mean."

...Bruh!

Ayato looked up from his only friend and across the playground where three girls were playing with their quirks.

One could control her hair, which was useless.

The second one could make harts every time she snapped her fingers, which was also useless.

And the last one... She could do... Something with her hair, the first and the last one were sisters so a similar quirk made sense.

"What did they say?"

She sniffled and said nothing.

"They said that your quirk was scary, didn't they?"

Honestly, Kids are the harshest beings in this world, they have no sense of what's mean or what's not, they just say how they feel.

Rin's "Scary" Quirk was Shadow control. She could give shadows physical form and command them to her will.

It was useful for menial tasks, fighting, carrying more stuff, and a few more things.

Sitting down next to her, Ayato rummaged through his small backpack taking out two juice boxes, apples, her favorite.

Without a word, he passed one box to the which he quietly took and started sipping his own.

The world was harsh, even for kids... and Kids were assholes.
