Chapter 7: End of a hectic night

Third person POV

It has been some 45 minutes since Minerva managed to rescue the children, she contacted the authorities and the heroes and police showed up and they took the children to be escorted back to their parents at the banquet hall and the three mortally wounded villains/terrorist. There was still another military vehicle which got away but as cold as it was Minerva didn't care just as long as her kid was safe. Minerva could have gone home with straight home with Chimwemwe but two problems arose: first Suiw also refused to leave the two Caçars' side and flinched and struggled on another against any other person, the second was she was going to be charged with vigilantism.

'What a night.'  Minerva sigh as she rode the police car with the night just ended in a troublesome manner. She looked at the two children one her left the other on her right. "Chicky, are you feeling, okay?" She asked him and he looked up to her and she saw he was shaken by the events.

"Um Fine Auntie I-I can get through this." His voice shocks a little and she just rubbed the top head and she knew he was more mature than children his age so he wasn't lying but that doesn't mean she can't worry about his mentality.

"Suiw?" She turned her attention towards the girl who had her head who just rested her head on her lap looked up towards with tears in her eyes.

"I just want my mommy and daddy." The little girl cried.

"Don't worry we'll get to them soon." Minerva said rubbing her head as well not knowing what else to do to comfort her.

Chimwemwe was currently in deep thought at what just happened. He wondered who those guys really were, where did they plan to take them, what plan they had with them.

'Did they plan to hold us hostage for ransom I mean there were children of wealthy and powerful kids there. Or did they want to forcefully recruit us I mean child soldiering was a still a problem in my old world maybe that's the case now!' He thought about how dark things could have gone if his aunt didn't save them.

They got back to the hotel were there a huge gathering of people mostly the press and the children who got picked up by other officers already reunited with there parents. The some who didn't get there children back had looks of despair while the others who had children but didn't bring them were silently glad of their decision.

"SUIW!" Jemima ran to her daughter and Suiw did the same jumping into her mother's arms and they embraced each other in a tight hug. Mutale was not there as him and his coworkers were busy trying to deal with damage control. The Aunt and Nephew duo watch the reunion silently and decided to leave and let them have their moment but suddenly Jemima wrapped her hands, Minerva. "Thank you so much you saved her!" She whispered in gratitude.

"U-um no problem, Jemima." Minerva said a little awkwardly as she patted the woman's back.

"I-Is there anything I can do to repay you."  Before Minerva could deny she remembered that she was caught in the act performing and act of vigilantism and even though their will definitely be a cover story that the heroes were the ones who saved the children it didn't mean the law still won't get off her ass.

"Well, you could get the police to let me off the hook of what I did today." She said sneakily to Jemima elbowing her a little.

"Are you asking me to use my and my husband's connections to get you a get out free card."

"Oh, come on I saved your daughter's life plus you offered." Minerva didn't really want to deal with the clusterfuck that was this country's confusing legal workings.

"Well, we'll see what we can do." Jemima said it wasn't really going to be much of a problem.

"Bye Mrs. Sosala. Later Suiw." Chimwemwe said his goodbyes which the two returned. He was walking by his aunt's side than looking than they got to the car and honestly, he was surprised the neither the police or heroes stopped them for questioning. They just made the either they were too busy to remember or Mrs. Sosala worked fast.

"Hey Auntie." He called out to her getting her attention. "Who where the guys who really?"

"They were villains Chicky." She said the half-truth not really wanting to explain the complex topic of terrorism to her four-year-old nephew.

"They had stuff with looked to be from the army auntie they weren't normal villains."

"Chimwemwe you're still a kid you don't really need to know about this kind of stuff."

"That bad huh."

"Yeah, but you were right Chimwemwe they weren't normal villains but like I said your just a kid I don't care how smart or mature you are for your age there just some topics which are too complicated for you now so just take my word for it."

"Okay." Chimwemwe said he thought that they must either must have been some crime syndicate, mercenaries or a terrorist group. 'I really need to read more in the countries background.' He thought as there might be more to Nyasaland he had yet to know

In a base somewhere in the south of Nyasaland

"How did the mission go A man asked. It was the same man from the projection from the banquet. He was currently sitting in an office desk and tv screen behind him in. He was currently facing on a man in military gear.

"Well sir we ran into complications." He said getting the captain to raise a brow asking him to elaborate. "Well, the one of the vehicles carrying the children had gotten to our bases but the other one was not successful."

"How did that happen we were certain that there was no hero with a remotely related speed quirk at that event."

"We're not sure sir."

The captain of the base didn't really know what to think sure the plan might not have been something of a master class but it was good enough for a good victory. Tamper with the list of heroes who attend should guard the event, get some of their men to bring up the idea to open up a room where kids are kept busy if they were brought, hire villains and get some of their men to dress as fake guards, hold the kid's hostage to hold the heroes and few actual guards in submission and finally cause ruckus on the road to prevent chases.

"Thank you for the report you may leave now." The captain dismissed the man to which he saluted and left the room.

"That's disappointing too here." A deep voice said from the screen getting both men to turn pale. On the screen it showed a large man shadowy figure.

"GENERAL SIR!!" The captain saluted him with tremendous respect.

"I just heard of the operation I put you in charge of wasn't didn't go as planned captain."  This got the captain to look down in shame.

"I deeply apologies for my incompetence general we lost one vehicle containing the children."

"As disappointed as I am it really doesn't take away too much in our objective so your mistake is excused." He spoke.

"Thank you, sir."

"Hm keep up the good work in managing the southern base captain and make sure those children a kept carefully under surveillance and reeducated."

"Yes sir!" With that the screen went black.

The captain sat back on his desk thinking of the play they just made. Sure, they weren't that big in numbers so he understands the general's play to kidnap children as potential future members OF Kujitenga but why announce their presence when they're still a little short. The general might have some unorthodox plays but he trusts the man's judgement as he saved the whole cause from extinction especially from the three families and Takhar
