2 Chapter 2

Axel laid on his bed as he stared at the ceiling. The day's events played inside his head. He kept replaying the robber's reason for why he robbed the store on repeat. He got up as he searched online for recent villain attacks in broad daylight.

He watched numerous recent videos up to 6 months back and found the one he seemed the most obvious was where the man's daughter got hurt. It was a fight between a hero and a villain that happened a month ago.

' The dude was toying with the villain and acting to get more views from people. He wanted an audience to gain popularity. Ended up hurting a civilian in the process. His face got worried as he immediately stopped the villain. However, the daughter is still in the hospital. '

Axel knew there would be people who wanted to be a hero to gain popularity so they could earn lots of money as they raised in ranks. He didn't care that they do that but what's the point of civilians get hurt.

He pondered the idea as he looked at more videos where heroes ended up making the situation worse for popularity only to save the day and get popular.

' Come to think of it. What's the meaning of saving someone? '

Axel looked at the ceiling. Was saving someone only related to falling buildings, villain attacks, and such? After all, the person who tried robbing the store was doing it because of a hero.

Axel shook his head of such thoughts for the time being and went to sleep.

Once Mina walked home, she was smothered by her parents as they asked if she was alright from the villain attack. Mina tried to hold it and tell them she was fine but she couldn't hold it in as she cried on her parent's shoulders. It was a scary experience for her.

After some talking, she was feeling much better than before as she went to her room. She kept thinking about what happened. She didn't know how to stop them at all. If they decide to hurt anyone in the store she would either help out by luck or put everyone in a much worse position.

' I need to train from now on. I'll get stronger and become a great hero. '

Kirishima stared at himself in the mirror after he walked up to his room. He stared at himself as the events replayed in his head. He didn't do anything. He was too scared to even try to help anyone.

He even hid behind his friend because of it. He then watched his other friend took care of the villains easily.

' What am I even doing? I just stand behind them and cower in fear. I'm not even a man as I hid behind my friend for protection. '

Kirishima was disappointed in himself. He just stood there in fright. He relied on his friends to protect him. He looked at himself in the mirror and sighed as he remembered how Axel defeated those guys without a trace of fear.

' He was more of a man than me. I can't stand being like this. No more. I won't cower in fear anymore. I'll train myself to the bone and become a hero. I won't fall behind. '

He stood up and went to the bathroom. Taking out a bottle of red hair dye, he dyed his hair red.

Once he was finished, he smiled at the mirror before going to bed for school the next day.

" So why did you dye your hair red? " Axel asked as he looked at Kirishima while walking towards the school.

" After the incident yesterday, I don't want to be the same coward I was. I will become a hero and will a man from now on. " Kirishima said resolutely to Axel.

" Okay. " Axel said with a blank face.

"That's all you got to say! " Kirishima yelled towards Axel.

" Yo Axel! " they heard from the familiar voice of Mina who ran over to them.

She caught up to them and looked at both of them, stopping at Kirishima. She grinned as she slapped his back.

" Finally, you change your hair. Red suits you. " Mina said. Kirishima grinned as he gave Mina a thumbs up.

" Thanks, Mina. " Kirishima said. Mina said it was fine as she knew that Kirishima would have changed after yesterday.

She looked at Axel who was just staring at them with his regular expression. He didn't even look phased from yesterday.

' I have a lot of catching up to do, ' Mina thought.

" I'm going to apply for UA. What about you guys? " Mina asked excitedly.

" Same. I'm also going to UA. " Kirishima said while grinning.

They then looked at Axel who looked back.

" I'm going to UA. " Axel said.

Mina and Kirishima cheered as they neared their school. They made a promise for all of them to enter UA.

Axel knew though that this decision of entering UA was only because he didn't want to be separated from his only friends. At the same time though, a question came up inside his mind.

What does it mean to save others?

Months passed by as Kirishima, Mina and Axel trained for the UA entrance exam. Kirishima managed to get a gym membership and trained there most of the time to gain muscles.

Mina and Axel joined him sometimes at the gym to work out. They practiced their works together as they advised each other. Mostly Axel as both of them asked him for advice on their quirks.

During the months, Axel looked at the computer for long periods of time. His question kept coming up as he tried to find an answer.

He didn't focus on saving people physically but also mentally. He knew that humans can do some crazy stuff when they experience something and get flooded by emotions. Like rage or sadness.

However, he still didn't find an answer. The answer had been bugging him for months and yet after everything he couldn't find an answer that satisfied him.

He then turned to his application for UA. It was then his motivation to become a hero began. If he couldn't get an answer from watching other people, he thought he would find an answer by experiencing what the world throws at him.

Perhaps after being a hero, his question could finally have an answer.
