13 Awakening&Testing

Just kidding lol, you really thought I would end things with a cliffhanger like that?

So naive~

"By the way… Congratulations on getting a quirk. I guess you could say in a way it was a blessing in disguise to get shot."

She said with a smile not explaining it any further before once again closing the door.

"It actually awakened?

Stunned, he immediately sat up on the bed pressing down the mild discomfort caused by the wound, a neat thing he could do now that meditation had leveled up, and called up his quirk panel.

'What the… it's awakened but it has no name? Ah right quirks in general don't really have a name right off the owner names the quirk when registering it. But what is my quirk exactly? Hmm if Makima noticed…'

Briefly pausing as Academic recalled about the general 4 categories of quirks, emitter Quirks, mutation Quirks, transformation Quirks and accumulation-type Quirks.

For starters Thaumiel crossed out his quirk being of the emitter type since it showed while he was still unconscious, for the same reason an accumulation-type could be crossed out.

"And since mutation quirks are most of the types from birth then the quirk should most likely be of the transformation type… but what exactly is it?"

Stopping to briefly consider the possible clues an answer that could possibly be the solution soon came to mind, if the quirk manifested when he was in danger… then would it be related to his wound?

Turning his eyes toward his bandaged shoulder he hesitated for a couple seconds before reaching for the bandages and slightly pulling it aside.

Although his medicine talent was not too leveled he could somewhat tell his wound seemed to not be too serious and undoing the bandages probably wouldn't cause too much harm.

As he peeled off layer by layer eventually getting to the paper stick like layer glued on top the very carefully peeled it off to show a tad bit of the wound.

To his surprise though he didn't even need to see the wound to find an abnormality as the entire area surrounding the wound had a strange fish skin life texture covering it.

briefly feeling it Thaumiel shuddered due to how sensitive the skin was and took back his finger.

"My quirk is… a small patch of weird fish skin? No wait… I shouldn't have been out for too long yet the wound looks to have already closed up, there aren't even stitches on it… a small patch of weird fish skin with a regeneration factor?"

Slightly confused, Thaumiel straightened out his thoughts and tried to focus.

"If my quirk is transformation type I should be able to do the transformation…"

Moving his talent points to Meditation as to increase the passive buff of mental control to the mass he briefly focused intensifying the nwo passive meditation effect to clear his focus and do a small introspective search for any new sensation.

In a manner much similar to when looking for his new perk Thaumiel once again found another and very different type of 'metaphysical' muscle that didn't really belong to any parts of his body.

Focusing on this 'muscle' he flexed it trying to activate the transformation.

Yet the muscle seemed a bit unresponsive.

With a few more tries Thaumiel reached a conclusion he was perhaps sending the wrong stimulus to this muscle.

Unlike Ubermensch that was a turn on and turn of type of power, the quirk he had awakened seemed to require a different type of stimulus to activate.

"Since the part that's already activated resembles an Axolotl's skin then maybe I need to stimulate the muscle with a certain type of fish or animal in mind?"

With this idea he once again got to it, this time sending the quirk an stimulus while having an Axolotl in mind.

This time he felt some response from the quirk, it almost seemed to be exciting, yet this response lasted for a short while before it once again relaxed to the previous state.

"Was that not it? No, there was some response but it seemed to still be lacking… Ah!"

Once again reviewing the situation of the area where the quirk was already activated Thaumiel considered he also not only needed to give an animal type but also a location for the transformation to occur.

Feeling confident he put the test to mind stimulating the quirk while simultaneously having the Axelots image in mind and picturing his left arm.

This time the quirk fully responded as he felt a familiar type of switch in response from the muscle and looking toward his left arm a weird tingling and uncomfortable feeling took place, which he suppressed and focused on the arm changes itself.

From the tip of his fingers till the half of his forearm his skin whitened another degree changing a bit in texture. On the outer parts of his forearm he also grew pink collared gills and last but not least his fingers changed as the nails shifted as well assuming a weird claw-like consistency.

"This is… looks a bit weird yet cute at the same time, so this is my quirk? Shifting parts of my body into animal parts… Am I a nerfed Beast Boy?"

Curiously feeling the sensation of his claw-like hand Thaumiel relaxed the quirk's mental muscle after a bit which prompted the transformation to be undone returning his hand to the original human-like state.

"Thankfully meditation can suppress the shifting discomfort, turning back is even more painful than turning on. But what to call this quirk… for now let's call it Monster Mimicry, I'll figure out a name for it when it's time to register it."

And like that almost immediately after he mentally named his quirk, his Talent panel popped up by itself showcasing a few changes.

"Damn!"

Thaumiel couldn't help but curse out loud once he saw the related talent pop up.

He wasn't surprised because such a talent popped out though.

But because his qualification in it were so fucking high right of the bat.

'This talent's initial amount is already more than some talents made by the fusion of other talents… Am I a genius or something when it comes to training quirks?'

He thought unconsciously ignoring Academic's reminder that values around 35 to 50 were the normal amount of talent points people usually have.

'But to think All Talents named this talent so specifically… couldn't you just name it as Quirk Training talent? Ah but thinking about it, there are various types of quirks and even quirks of the same type work extremely different, if it was really just quirk development would that mean I would be a super level trainer? Able to make a super effective training plan for any quirk in existence?'

Picturing the sight of himself sitting on a throne while numerous super strong superheroes personally trained and loyal to him called him teacher and paid him their respects Thaumiel could only find the mental image tempting.

'Ah it's not too bad… but forget it. Anyway I only got a single quirk to actually train not like I'm suffering a loss anyway, I also got the teaching talent so I should be able to train other people and their quirks to some extent too…'

In any case Thaumiel didn't immediately get to transferring a lot of points and training his quirk, anyway right now he was still healing from his wound and there was no hurry to improve since Makiam's problem was solved.

"Life sure is sweet when you aren't being chased by death hum~"

...

Thaumiel's stay in the hospital was relatively short.

In his past life a person that suffered from a gunshot wound, even if it was a low caliber one at an extremely sensitive area like the shoulder, would most probably spend quite a few weeks in the hospital and take months to heal while still having the chance of carrying some permanent damage.

In this world though, where technology was leaps and bounds ahead and some doctors had quirks that seem straight out like out RPG magic spells when it comes to healing, a full 6 weeks was almost enough for him to fully recover from the wound without any after effect damage.

Of course, the main contributor to such a result was none other than his quirk.

As he gradually got a bit more experienced with his quirk, and with lots of talents adding a pretty powerful passive buff of near never ending stamina when it comes to using his quirk, Thaumiel was able to keep an almost 24/7 local transformation of an axolotl on the wounded area.

Which according to the animals own characteristics, boosted immensely his normal human regenerative capacities.

After all, Axolotls are hands down nature's most immortal vertebrates, being able to heal limbs, cartilage, bones, organs like heart or stomach, and even parts of their brains in surprisingly short periods of time.

Sure the healing effect was dwarfed a lot when put in his human self but it still beats normal human healing process by an untold number of times.

To make things even sweeter, the healing and occasional training with his quirk to make him more acquainted with the new power elevated his level quite a bit.

Mostly an advantage of the stupid amount of TP he now had.

Which elevated a casual testing every now and then to make him capable of nearing mastering all basic to fairly advanced applications of his quirk.

Of course the most important thing is that levelings the Beast Mimicry development talent proficiency he also got to know more clearly about the limitations and defects of his power.

For starters his transformations were only partial, he could not turn full animal like beast boy.

That also wasn't something due to the lack of practice too it was also a 'limit' of his quirk.

Another limitation is he could only manifest transformation on a couple of his body parts and for now was not able yet to perform some chimera-like transformations.

This though, was due to lack of proficiency, which he should be able to overcome with some more serious training.

Third is he could only turn into animals and it wasn't possible to become dinosaurs or monsters from rpg games he remembered from his previous life.

Because he needed a somewhat rough idea of the biology of the creature he wanted to manifest he couldn't turn into a beast he had never seen or studied neither into a fictional or fantastic beast.

Last but not least, although he can transform his body parts and manifest various animal-like features they aren't properly scaled in power to his human self.

Putting simply... scientifically speaking a normal rabbit was around 20 cm and could jump from 4 to 5 times its height.

If he manifested rabbit legs although he could significantly improve his jumping power he would barely be able to reach 3 times his height.

Same with other animals.

This sucked quite a bit.

After all, the majority of the animals with some of the most awesome biological features of nature, were usually small sized animals or even insect sized.

Which immensely dwarfed their key features when he manifested.

Still even with all defects Thaumiel wasn't too worried about, after all he had All Talents!

Even if his second quirk had lots of weaknesses and limitations as long as he kept gridding he could eventually surpass those limitations and keep getting stronger!

'Just be patient Thau, just be patient... one day the might of Godzilla shall shine on this world of anime Muahahaha!'

If he could keep it leveling to the level of beast boy though remained a question, after all although simple looking beast boy's powers from dc were connected to one of the universe fundamental forces much like speed force, the green, and etc.

Still Thaumiel was rather confident, what he was mostly worried about now though was about registering his quirk...

By law all japanese citizens unless under extraordinary circumstances were required to have their quirks registered as soon as awakened.

Thaumiel himself wasn't against or bothered by it, but the thing is what should he register as his quirk?

Usually a person only has one quirk and thus they register that, he however had two, and one of them was an all powerful mysterious type of quirk that was never seen before seemingly involving the very concept of talent and could even only be classified like normal quirks when you streach the categories a LOT.

Obviously he couldn't register it, if he didn't do so and later on kept showing more and more 'outrageous' behaviors as his talents kept increasing in amount and proficiency beyound human possible standards it was only natural he would eventually attract someone's attention.

Giving up his situation and stopping pursuing to level his talents was also not an option, especially now he had cleared the obstacle called Makima and his quirk had even evolved.

'How can I use my second quirk to also hide the special effects caused by my first quirk...?'

The problem was greatly troubling him as the moment he would come up with some somewhat feasible solution his brian would promptly create 2 or 3 more scenarios where things backfire.

The time for him to consider was also coming to an end with him being officially released from the hospital tomorrow as Makima would then take him to a registering center first thing.

After all she was a civil worker and the laws were more strictly applied to her compared to normal individuals.

Finally with some additional research a small plan formed into his mind which boosted the most likely chance of working out and the least likely chance of later on exposing him in a rather unwanted manner.

'My only worry though is whenever I can guide the doctor's line of thought during the appraisal so things turn out the way I want it…'

Hello readers,

So in this chapter I began to delve on the mc's second Quirk and being completely honest I am once again faced with the reality I suck at naming and simply can't find a satisfying name for the second quirk.

So what name should Mc have for his second quirk?

Please do give this author some ideas, because I've already fried my brain from thinking yet nothing quite satisfactory has come up.
