3 Vampire?

Blood, it is the source of all life... Except plants.

And vampires are those who survive upon that blood. In many novels, they are portrated as blood-thristy, crazed monsters.

Just fighting one is hazardous and deadly.

Now, there's a kid in class 1-D with such a disastrous power.

'This quest is definitely a death sentence.'

Is what I would have thought if I didn't have my first mission.

That quest was really amazing.

Who could ever forget a hero who has died fighting the greatest evil one-on-one?

And if by some luck or Hachimon Tonkou, AFO ends up dying together, it would be incredible.

'Kukukuku, my death will be LEGENDARY!!'

Anyway, I had to clear up my mind as I soon reached class 1-D.

There was a subtle presence of someone inside the classroom. Though I had no quirk that gave me the ability to sense presences, my [Senses] were almost twice that of an average human adult.

"Should I knock or not?"

Another's privacy should always be respected.

But as an adult, except for my own privacy, I didn't care about anybody else's personal life.

- Woosh!

In a swift movement, the door to the class was opened up. It showed some eagerness to see the secret of the 'demon' within.

....

Sadly, there was no 'demon' inside.

Silence seemed to suffocate the entire atmosphere as the two kids were staring at each other.

'This girl.... She seems familiar.....'

Inside the huge classroom, there was a single female student. Despair painted her previously ecstatic face as stared at the 'intruder'.

There lay a dead bird in her arms, which was almost drained of blood. Its body was covered in bite marks while the girl's lips had blood all over them.

Gulping down the blood, she raised the tension.

Some of the blood was spoiling her dirty blood hair, falling down to her shoulders. Her golden eyes were dilated to show her shock.

Her face could easily be in the top 10 of the 'Beauties of the School' list if it was ever made.

"Um...."

For some reason, it felt like I was doing something wrong.

"Please continue."

I gave her the 'thumbs-up' and closed the door.

'That was strange....'

Was she that starved?

I obviously didn't care about humans so it made even less sense to care about animals. Once again, the only thing that interested me was eternal rest.

- Thud!

A loud noise came from the room as she was rummaging inside.

'Ah~ Is she embarrassed? Don't worry, kid, I have eaten eel before. It wasn't that good but the feeling is the same.'

Was it youthful mistake to try new things? I should have just stuck to chicken.

Soon, the girl inside would realize that too...

'Wait, was she drinking the blood? Then maybe she would like that? I wonder if the taste of blood differs from animal to animal?'

The last time I tasted blood was when I got hit by a truck to complete the quest. It was too salty for my taste.

***

Inside the class 1-D.

'Oh, no, no, no, no. What should I do!? Someone saw me!!'

Toga Himiko was panicking as she hurriedly started to pack her bag and clean up the surroundings.

'Will he spread some rumors about me!!? No! Please no! I want to be normal! I want to a 'good' human too!!'

In her despair, she didn't notice that the boy was still outside the class.

"Argh!"

Groaning in confusion, she paced around the class, erasing traces of blood.

'I should just act dumb! No, that won't work! Why can't I just act normal for once!!'

Berating herself, she picked up her bag, wanting to dash after the boy who saw her.

She needed to hide her secret at all costs.

Her parents had already warned her not to do anything bad. To be a good human.

'Should-should I erase him to keep the secret?'

Toga shook her head as that wasn't normal. Hurting others to keep herself safe wasn't nice.

Unbeknownst to Masato, his lifelong wish was so close to being granted.

"I should at least talk with him once!"

As she hurried towards the door, she glanced over the dead body of the bird.

She didn't kill the bird and only found it on the ground, hurt and dying because of a predator. Although she felt compassion for it, she couldn't do anything for the bird either.

It was the law of nature. The weak get eaten.

As the bird was dying, she decided to care for it in her own way. Show it his own blood. Maybe it would rest easy, knowing that its blood was so pretty. Somehow, she wanted to help the bird. Showing that she was similar to it, having the same blood that it carried so she drank the spilled blood.

They were actually connected by the crimson liquid, becoming similar to each other.

She felt.... Alive for once. Not bound by people who didn't understand her. Nor by the rules which seemed hypocritical to her.

Many people ate meat. But once you kill it and drink its blood, you become a monster? That was incomprehensible to the young girl.

Sadly, the bird died a few moments after she drank the leaking blood. Ending their short friendship, leaving her alone again.

'I really need to catch that boy and beg him to keep it a secret!'

With that thought, Himiko dashed out the room.

"Wah!"

Only to see the boy waiting for her.

She glanced at the nearby window, checking her reflection for any traces of 'evidence'.

'Everything seems fine.'

"Umm..."

Deciding to speak with the boy, she opened her mouth but no sound came from it. How exactly was she supposed to handle such a situation?

"T-that...."

"I like chocomint ice-cream."

Before she could speak anything, Masato expressed his thoughts with his usual bored tone, trying to break the ice.

"Huh?"

Baffled, Himiko made a strange squeak.

"I was just telling you about my strange tastes. People call me a heretic for that too."

'Though I get what you're trying to say.... But are you really comparing drinking the blood of another animal with 'Chocomint'?'

Himiko had never seen a boy like him. Most of them would be scared while the others would be disgusted if they knew. And a chosen few would try to explain it to her why it was wrong to drink blood.

Maybe it was wrong to drink blood in a normal world. But the world had already changed a long time ago. When the quirks appeared. Common sense became nothing but a simple chain of reason trying to bind everyone.

"That...."

"I won't tell anybody about your tastes so don't tell anybody about mine either..... Especially to that rich smartass."

"Who?"

Masato whispered the last words but Himiko still caught on.

"Nobody."

Shaking his head, Masato decided to remain an enigma.

'Wait.... How do I make friends again?'

After a decent amount of time, Masato finally realized the problem.

His past life seemed so far away while his only friend in this life was God-gifted and not earned.

'If I remember it correctly, I should beat one up and then fix them up?'

Reminiscing about Kaito who had become a friend, that statement seemed oddly true and enticing.

Just as Masato was about to crack his knuckles and start his 'plan', he was interrupted.

"Um, I-I, My name is Himiko Toga."

'Right~ I could introduce myself too.'

A light bulb clicked over his head as he forgot the name the girl just gave him.

"Anzai Masato. Nice to meet you, Kid 2."

And~ Himiko's name was designated as 'Kid 2'.

"Kid 2?"

"Umu."

The assent to her new name bedazzled Himiko. She had a new nickname, given to her by a boy she just met.

"Anyway, take good care of me from now on, Kid 2."

Masato bowed his head, giving Himiko the perfect chance to 'silence' him forever.

Unfortunately, she was just too shocked to take it. If she had a chance, she would really want to see the inside of his brain.

"You-"

"Hmm?"

"Will you really not tell anyone about it?"

Himiko gathered up her courage to ask that.

"More like, I don't have anyone to tell. Introvert."

Pointing to himself, Masato gave out an objective name for his condition.

"Ah~"

Though it pissed him off when Himiko understood it easily, he didn't do anything else. Did he really look that introverted? Or did he seem strange enough for others to steer clear of him?

Soon, the two of them started to walk out of school.

In silence, side by side, without a single word... Awkward couldn't describe the atmosphere between them.

"By the way, was the taste of the blood good?"

"Hie!"

Trembling, Himiko seemed to find that question too crude. They weren't even close enough for her to try and drink his blood, after all.

".... I like working out till I puke blood."

Seemingly intuitive of her state, he changed the conversation but his inexperience showed itself distinctively.

".... Are you sure that's good?"

'Isn't working out till you puke blood bad?'

Himiko seemed concerned about her new 'acquantance'.

"Well, I like to train my body and that's all that matters."

"Um...."

As she heard those words, a pang of envy rose up in her heat.

Why couldn't she be more like him? Even if she was a socially-awkward, dumb muscle-head, it was thousands of times better than being a freak who loved blood.

She really wanted to be more like others, normal. In a sense, she was normal. Waiting for other's approval.

A desire started to rise again within her. The desire to drink the blood of this strange boy and get an understanding of his state.

"You have something to ask?"

Sensing the hesitation on her face, Masato threw out that question.

".... Don't you find.... me strange?"

She decided to test the waters. This question would tell whether she actually should drink his blood or not?
