3 3. Mission Triggered

Shun froze and slowly backed away from his smiling reflection.

"What the--"

The reflection suddenly raised his hands in surrender, "Wait wait, don't go! Sorry I didn't mean to startle you. It's just it's been a while since I saw another human,"

The voice of the reflection sounded exactly like Shun making him feel slightly uncomfortable. He saw the expression on the soul in the mirror and his tense shoulders relaxed after realising he meant no harm.

"You....are a soul right?" Shun questioned remaining in his position.

"I prefer the term spirit. My name is Isshiki," The spirit smiled.

[Ding! Triggered hidden mission!]

Eh? Shun blinked at the sudden message in surprise because he didn't expect to start a new mission right after finishing one.

[Mission - Isshiki (Lingering Spirit). Help Isshiki fulfil his last earthly wish to employ him as an immediate subordinate.

Time Limit - 5 days

Penalty for failure - Loss of possible loyal subordinate]

"Um, sir? Is something wrong?" Isshiki asked seeing Shun had not responded and was standing as if in a daze.

Shun shook his head and looked at Isshiki with a curious gaze making the spirit fidget in the mirror.

"S-Sir?"

"Isshiki right? How...did you end up here if you don't mind me asking?" asked the haunted house boss.

The reflection blinked and scratched the back of his head. "Do you mean how I ended up in the mirror or how I died?"

"Both...?"

Isshiki pursed his lips and frowned, "Well, since you're technically my boss and you seem like a trustworthy guy, I'll tell you. I used to be part of a moving company and my partner and I were delivering this mirror to a customer in town. Unfortunately, some driver on the road lost control of the vehicle and ended up swerving on to the sidewalk where I was. The next thing I remember is waking up inside the mirror with no way out."

"How long ago was this?"

"Should be around two years ago I believe,"

Shun rubbed his chin in contemplation. It was quite an unfortunate incident considering this guy was innocently doing his job before getting rammed out of nowhere. Shun could somewhat sympathise with him as Shun died in a similar manner. He watched as the reflection sheepishly twiddled his thumbs wondering why his boss kept staring at him.

Seeing no reason to beat around the bush any longer, Shun asked him directly;

"What was your last wish before you died? The reason you stayed a lingering spirit is because you still had attachments to earth correct?"

Isshiki looked up in surprise, "My last wish? I'm not sure. My life was pretty content so I can't think of anything,"

"There must be something, something you desperately desired before your death," urged Shun. He could really use a loyal employee and this Isshiki dude was the perfect candidate.

"Well...now that I think of it, there was one thing," Isshiki tapped his chin.

Shun walked closer, "What is it?"

Isshiki laughed and rubbed his head, "It was kind of stupid but I really wanted to meet the one and only R-rated hero, Midnight."

.....

Eh?

"U-Um, sorry but did you say the hero Midnight? A-As in the tall, dark-haired, R-18, woman?" Shun stammered.

Isshiki gave him a weird look.

"What other R-18 hero is there? Though, maybe Mt. Lady could pass for R-rated," Isshiki was in his own world not noticing his boss's expression.

Shun just stood staring at the mirror in utter confusion. What is this guy talking about? Aren't they just characters in an anime? How the hell am I supposed to fulfil that wish?

[Ding! Host has not yet worked it out yet]

Shun looked at the system interface with a confused expression. 'What are you talking about?'

[The world that host currently resides in is the fictional world of 'My Hero Academia']

"EHHH?!"

-----

Moments after the startling discovery, the haunted house boss dug out his cellphone provided by the system and began searching up news articles. To no one's surprise, the top headlines were mostly about the number one hero All Might with other heroes like Endeavor and Hawks taking up the other articles.

"So I really am in a fictional world." Shun muttered. He wasn't sure what to make of that because one part of him was excited while the other side was dreading having to deal with villains.

"Considering this is still the start of the actual plot-line, the League of Villains has yet to fully form meaning, there's a chance to stop them before they become too powerful." Normally, Shun wouldn't really bother with such things but seeing as he had watched bits and pieces of the anime, he understood the danger that the League posed.

'At first, they were just small fry but they grew into a powerful threat to the point of overturning the entire Hero Society. If things become like that, civilians such as myself will suffer the effects of those unwarranted changes.'

[Ding! You have triggered MAIN MISSION!!

Mission - Change the future

Time limit - 3 years

Penalty for Failure - Death]

Shun's face twitched.

"I should've known the system would do this, but nevertheless, it was something I was planning to do anyway. For now, I need to complete Isshiki's wish."

Shun had already toured the entire scenario and was now in the reception booth looking through news reports and articles on his computer. He was contemplating on how to get Midnight to meet Isshiki without seeming suspicious.

"Geez, this mission feels harder than the mirror one," huffed Shun. "Shall I just barge into U.A and look for her?"

He thought back to his conversation with Isshiki regarding why he wanted to meet Midnight of all heroes.

---Flashback---

"It's not what you think!" Isshiki waved his hands erratically. "Midnight saved my sister a long time ago so I was forever grateful to her and came to be a fan of her. I respect her as a hero,"

---End---

Unfortunately, Isshiki's sister is dead so Shun couldn't contact her. He was planning on somehow using her to get to Midnight. It might sound cold-hearted but it was a logical solution to him.

*Tap Tap*

His fingers tapped on the keys looking up all the important information of this world.

'It's unfortunate I didn't watch the whole anime and read the manga. I might've had a better chance at settling down here but I'll just have to rely on what I do know and go from there.'

"Damn, if you were going to transmigrate into another world, couldn't you have picked a more peaceful place?" He asked no one in particular.

Suddenly, his stomach grumbled and it was then that he realised it was already morning and he hadn't eaten for twelve hours.

"I can't think on an empty stomach and there's no food in the fridge. I'll just grab something to eat from the convenience store," Shun left the reception booth and went downstairs to his room. There was some cash in his wallet - thankfully - and the system had told him his credit card could work here.

After gathering his things, he grabbed a jacket and tousled his messy hair before finally leaving.
