8 Chapter 7

Chu Xuan reached the entrance of the rumoured ruin in a short time and mixed in the large amount of cultivators gathered in the place.

He could sense that most of the people in the crowd had the cultivation of atleast middle levels of the profound realm with a many peak profound realm experts as well as heaven realm experts from the large clans and the royal dynasty. There were even the old monsters of the large sects in the forefront along with the royal advisors of the dynasty mostly discussing the amount of people who could be taken as well as well as the distribution of benefits that would be acquired from the ruin.

He decided to go in the ruin alone once the large sects had already entered as he could feel something in the ruin that was summoning him to get it.

He didn't know when the ruin was going to open so he decided to ask the old person next to him.

"Senior can you tell me when the ruin is going to open?"

"Oh, the sects are saying that there are still approximately 2 hours left for the ruin to open, there seems to be a requirement of being heaven realm to enter the main ruin itself but there are many smaller area that cultivators of profound realm can enter."

"Thank you senior"

Chu Xuan decided to enter the ruin by concealing his looks and entering as a heaven realm cultivator since the pull he could feel was coming from the main ruin so he decided to wait for the main ruin to open.

2 hours later the gate to the ruin opened with a loud noise and the cultivators of the sects and the royal dynasty entered the ruin. There were some peak profound realm cultivators who decided to take a chance to follow them by covering themselves with spiritual energy to block any attack from the ruin.

Just as the profound realm cultivators passed the barrier they were exterminated so thoroughly that not even a drop of blood remained to show that they had existed.

Chu Xuan narrowed his eyes as he looked t the scene since he could tell that the scene he saw was that just as the profound realm cultivators entered the barrier the space warped and and sword cuts were formed from the spatial energy and completely eradicated every single trace of the intruders.

"It seems that the owner of this ruin was a space attribute cultivator, how lucky. Is this the so called lucky chances that people find as they travel, I didn't think I could find one so soon."

Chu Xuan wore a robe and put on a blank white mask which covered his features and the holes for his eyes showed a dark abyss that would consume anyone who dared to stare at it for too long. Combined with his hair he had a very intimidating stature for anyone he looked at him straight.

He went to the entrance of the ruin where the profound realm cultivators of the large sects were waiting and directly entered the ruin. No one from the sects dared to stop him as he had his heaven realm on full display daring anyone who dared to stop him. Everyone seemed to get the message and didn't dare to stop him.

As he entered the gate he felt himself being transported to a different part of the ruin and once he opened his eyes he could see that he had landed in a passage which was dark but had a source of light at the end, thus he started walking towards the light he could see.

Just as he reached the end a voice seemed to resound in the arena he seemed to have found himself in,

"Defeat 20 puppets of cultivation 2 ranks below you to advance to the next stage of the trial"

Just as the voice ended 20 puppets with the cultivation of 1st level of the heaven emerged from the gates on the sides and started to attack Chu Xuan in tandem.

Chu Xuan unsheathed the sword he kept at his waist and got into his stance, he covered his sword in his spiritual energy and used his fastest speed to dash at the puppets, time seemed to stop at this moment as many flashes of black were seen after Chu Xuan seemed to pass through the puppets without doing any damage. As Chu Xuan sheathed his sword time seemed to flow again and all the puppets fell down in small pieces. Chu Xuan continued towards the gate that opened as the puppets were destroyed towards the next trial.

There was a passage just like the first after the gate and Chu Xuan crossed it toward the light he could see in the distance. As he was walking he started to recover the energy he had spent since he didn't know how many more trials would be there. As he hadn't spent much energy he recovered quickly.

Once he reached the opening he could see a similar arena in front of him but it contained 30 puppets instead of 20.

The voice appeared just as before.

" Defeat 30 puppets with a cultivation 1 level below to advance to the next stage of trial "

The result was the same as last time with Chu Xuan needing a bit more time and energy than before to complete the trial.

As he waited for the gate to open, he heard a second announcement

"Defeat a puppet with cultivation 3 levels above you'd to advance to the final round of the trial"

As he prepared for the puppet to emerge, he felt a sense of danger he hadn't felt before since entering the ruin and hurriedly dived to the left from where he was standing. That turned to be a wise decision as the moment he dodged the place he was standing in was destroyed by the slash of a sword energy that came out of nowhere.

Chu Xuan sent his spirit energy to look for the puppet that had attacked him and found it to be in the corner of the arena as it was moving towards him . Chu Xuan readied himself as he realised that it would be a tough fight and he didn't want to use his divine body just yet. It was his trump card for the final trial.

Chu Xuan and the puppet clashes continuously in a fast paced battle of the sword , the puppet seemed to know a sword art which used spatial energy to increase the range of his movements with the sword and make slashes from impossible angles, it took every ounce of his concentration to keep himself from being killed and he wondered if there was such a strong sword art in the ancestral martial lower realm since the book he had read didn't have any such arts till Chu Feng had reached the hundred refinements ordinary realm and even then it was a skill obtained by the sects which had connections with the upper realms or the children of an expert or younger members of clan who had come to roam the lower realms to advance their cultivation in a safer environment.

Finally the puppet was destroyed when it's energy core was destroyed by Chu Xuan.

The door to the final stage opened and he went in the door. Just as he entered the door Chu Xuan could feel a force trying to invade his mind , it seemed to be an illusion formation which made the person trapped in it to experience the most ideal life he desired and if the trapped person didn't break through formation in time he/she would be drained of life force and be turned to dust.

The energy trying to invade Chu Xuan was destroyed the moment in entered his mind due to the pressure of the void energy which made his defences and he broke the illusion almost instantly.

"Such an illusion would definitely be the hardest trial for any other cultivator who would reach here but it is almost child's play for me who had stayed in the void for hundreds of years." Chu Xuan scoffed as he continued to the end of the passage.

There was a room at the end of the passage which contained a pedestal that contained a book and a sword which was glowing with a black colour. Chu Xuan realised that the pill he felt was coming from the sword and extended his hand towards the sword. The sword seemed to shoot from the pedestal and into his hand and he felt his cultivation increase by 2 levels instantly due to the weapon submitting itself to him completely. He was fairly surprised as he didn't think that a weapon would accept absolute submission of its own accord .

He inspected the weapon and realised that it was a sealed incomplete immortal armament and currently it only had the strength of an imperial armament. Even then Chu Xuan wouldn't be able to use its full power and would only be able to unleash the power of a royal armament from it.

Finally Chu Xuan decided to look at the book and saw that it was an taboo martial skill called Hundred Thousand Cuts and when mastered fully could display the might of an immortal taboo martial skill.

It had levels that corresponded to each lower level taboo skill.

The first level of One Cut could display the might of a mortal taboo martial skill and needed one to be peak heaven rank at least to practise the skill.

The Ten cuts had the might of an earthen taboo martial skill and needed a peak martial lord cultivation and so on.....

The sword he had found was specially forged to perform the Hundred thousand cuts skill and was in the form of a katana though it was a bit shorter than his own.

Just as he was contemplating on the benefits he had received the ruin started shaking and seemed to started destroying itself which brought Chu Xuan back to reality and he started to flee from the ruin. He activated his concealment the moment he left the ruin and escaped as fast as he could go so that no one could find him because even if he was confident in defeating one or two peak heaven ranks at a time he wouldn't be able to do anything if all of them joined forces to kill him for the treasures he had obtained.

He reached the city and entered the inn he was staying in and decided to sleep after the adventure he had.
