Chapter 5 - Noble Heart basement

Noble Heart was a bakery passed by generation to generation of his family. Once founded by his grandfather after the end of WWII, Noble Heart become of the most iconic Bakery of all England and even some countries of Europe knew about it. Even the employees were from a long heritage. All the employees were from the same battalion as his grandpa. Once Madd Father acquired the bakery, the employees of the former crew retired and have given the place for their sons and daughters. Now, after Madd father died, the employees started to run the bakery by themselves. All of them swear an oath to Madd as his guardians and help him in need. We can easily say that they were Madd's servants.

The reason why they didn't help Madd when he was in the streets, its because he wanted to be alone and he said so.

Once Madd arrived from the bank, he called all employees from the bakery for a reunion.

Maddoxx had a serious expression in his face. Eight people were in staring at Madd, all of them were as serious as Madd, they probably already knew about this meeting reason.

"In the basement, there is a door..." started Madd slowly. "Any of you know what is behind that door?"

Madd looked at every single one of them. His voice was requiring a true answer, and no one would want to stay between Maddoxx and that door.

"...."

All employees were silent. All of them were looking at each other trying to decide what should be the next step. Madd was waiting patiently for their decision. He knew that at least one of them was keeping secret of what's behind that door. But he wasn't expecting that all of them were accomplices.

In unison, all of them stared at Maddoxx and they extended their hands towards him.

"We don't think you are ready for this." Said Oscar, the manager of the bakery. "But you have the right to know about it, and we don't rule over your life."

"It's up to you decide what way you want to follow." Said Roger, the baker.

The extended hands opened and 8 keys just like the key Madd got from his uncle were revealed.

"So... all of you knew this whole time." Anger was exhaling from Madd.

"Yeah. And even now, we don't fully agree with this. It's just that we can't hide anymore." Other employee said.

Madd got all the keys from their hands and walked forward to the basement. When he was leaving the room a voice called him.

"Maddoxx, once you get down there you must know that we will leave this place and never come back." Said Oscar

"So it's a goodbye? " Asked Madd.

"No, this is the end of everything. We only take care of you since your father died because we have pity for you. Don't take us as bad guys or something. We simply don't give a shit for you"

It was already noon when Jessica arrived in the bakery. She left the bank and went straight to meet Madd, just like they said before. There was a huge crowd in the bakery, a lot of people talking and arguing, pushing the crowd out here way, she managed to cross over the entrance. But something was odd, the employees were absent. Worried about Maddoxx she rushed to the basement, where Madd would probably be. She already knew the way, because Madd already showed the bakery to her once.

Just after climbing down the stairs, Jessica could see Madd in sitting on the floor with a strange expression.

"Hey Jessica, you've finally come." Said Madd with an empty smile.

"Is everything alright? Where are the employees? There is a lot of people in the bakery waiting for someone." Jessica worried voice reached Madd ears as sweet as sugar. Even if he tried to be mad or angry at her, he couldn't. She was his whole world.

"Don't worry about it. They made their own decision. Who am I to judge them?" Madd mood was getting better. He had enough time to reflect on the facts that took place in the morning, yet he decided to don't give a shit about them. He didn't need old employees, he could find new ones. If that didn't work he wasn't worried, he was rich after all.

Oh shit, I forgot to ask uncle Jeff about the money transfer. Need to call him after finishing this matter. thought Madd.

Jessica was looking at Maddoxx for a long time. She could clearly see that he was thinking about something, and she didn't have the intention to interrupt his thoughts. She actually enjoyed watching Maddoxx different expressions and faces while thinking.

Noticing that he finished his own thoughts, Jessica happily asked " Are you ready? I'm am dead curious about what is inside"

Madd face was showing an intriguing expression " Are you coming with me Jess?"

"Of course, I will be always at your side. But this doesn't matter now. Just hurry and open that f*cking door" Jessica was like a child in a candy shop or some toy store. She wanted to see the secrets behind that door even more than Maddoxx.

While smiling at her, Maddoxx inserted the key on the lock and opened the door.
