Chapter 4 - Jeff, Veronica and a tough decision

"Wow. That was intense." It was Madd who break the silence.

Jessica did a single nod while cleaning her tears, she was blushed and her hands were trembling a lot. That night was almost 2 years ago yet her feelings were strong as ever.

Since Jessica met Maddoxx that night her life improved a lot. She could get a job in a great bank, she could move to a better apartment ( even though it was rented ), and she could pay all her debts.

"Let's go babe, " Said Madd while offering his hand to her get up "we still go to VIP room right?"

*hmm* nodded Jessica.

The VIP room was actually a whole underground floor. This floor was composed of one room and one office, both adjacent to the safe. The room was a VIP meeting room, with a large conference table with multiples chairs. The whole floor was well secured with surveillance cameras, elite trained guards, fireproof systems and other mechanisms to ensure the integrity from both the safe and VIP's. The office was actually the personal room of Mr. Jeff Golden, the owner of the great bank company.

"Sir, excuse me. " A gorgeous woman said while knocking the door.

"Come in Veronica." Said Mr.Golden.

"Sir, both Maddoxx and Jessica are here as you wished. Should I introduce them to you?" Veronica was a tall blonde woman. She was tall and extremely elegant. Wearing high heels and a black mini-skirt, she was perfectly dressed for doing secretary work. (-͡°-͜ʖ-͡°)

"Haha, no need Veronica, I already know both. But you can dismiss Jessica. I want a private talk with Maddoxx." Stated Mr.Golden.

Veronica bowed and left the room.

"Sir Maddoxx, Mr.Golden is ready to talk with you. Jessica, you are dismissed. Thank you for bringing Sir Maddoxx here." Veronica cold voice didn't leave space for denying or arguing. She was cold and punctual.

Maddoxx simple nodded and followed her to the office. Veronica opened the door for him and close it afterward.

"Mr.Golden, here is Maddoxx. Should I bring some cof–"

"Leave us" Mr.Golden response was simple yet full of authority.

"As you wish" Jessica said while leaving.

Both stared at each other for five minutes.

"Uncle Jeff" Maddoxx was the one who decided to broke the silence.

"Madd" Jeff voice was strong and steady.

"Its been a long time since..." said Madd

"We've met." completed Jeff

"Since...." Madd swallowed dry

"Your mother...funeral" Said Jeff gently

"Uncle, I never thanked you before for giving Jessica a better job than the waitress one. But please keep it a secret." Thanked Madd while snapping out of from the silence and 'that' topic.

"At least I could help you in something. You never asked my help before." Said Jeff. After a few moments reflecting about the next phrase, he continued "Even when you were in the streets"

"Jessica already was with me that time." Said Madd honestly. "And I didn't want anything from you. Even now."

"Hahaha" Laughed Jeff. "Cold as ever."

"But for the first time, you are wrong. You WANT something from me" Jeff smile was full of disdain and malicious.

Jeff's hand opened a drawer and took a metallic object from it.

"No.....this.... can't be...." Madd was in shock

In Jeffs' hand was a key. A key which Madd was looking for a long time.

"Hahahahha. What happened my dear nephew? You look like you've seen a ghost." Jeff was enjoying the moment. While Madd was desperate.

That key was the border between him and his father's secrets. But now Jeff was with the key. How? When? These questions were overflowing Maddoxx head.

"Don't worry Madd. Your father gave the key to me. And I am willing to give it to you" Jeff broke Madd thoughts.

"But the question is: are you ready for what is beyond that door? Can you handle this? Or you will be like last time after your mother died and go live in the streets trying to run away from everything? Jeff's voice was full of anger and hatred.

He took the key and slapped against the table making a huge noise.

" Here is the key. But you must know, once you touch that key, you can't run anymore."

Jeff walked away from the room, letting Madd alone. It was just him and the key.
